Dreams and Other Deceptions

“That’s all I have left of him - dreams and other deceptions. All we were is all we’ll ever be.”

Hermione Granger can’t remember the last time she dreamt —sleep came as a black abyss, an empty space between waking moments… not unlike her memory. There are so many months missing from the last two years of her life. She had made peace with those blank spaces, told they were the result of the trauma and torture from the war. So, when she wakes up from something that feels more memory than dream, something her mind would have never concocted on its own, she dives headfirst into the mystery of sixth year. Determined to illuminate the black spots in her timeline she can’t recall, Hermione finds herself caught up in nightmares from years past that are more than they appear.

The more she remembers, the more she discovers that at the center of all her forgotten memories is Draco Malfoy – war criminal pending trial for his crimes as a Death Eater.

Will navigating her past bring her closure or more unrest?”

Wasn’t a fave, wanted more present day mixed with the past. Also would have been interesting to have them interact in the present before she got her memories back to build tension.

45 chapters / 268k words /

Hogwarts 6th year / post war / memory loss / secret relationship / romance / smut / good draco / spy draco

About the story:
The war is won but Hermione suffers from severe memory loss. Only with the help of a specialized mind healer is Hermione able to uncover the secrets behind her memory loss and what a certain pale haired wizard has to do with it.

My Thoughts:
This was a interesting memory loss idea. To uncover slowly the relationship Hermione had with Draco through her sessions was original and captivating.
The relationship between Draco and Hermione was still very sweet and passionate.

This story is for you if you like book reimagining/fix with good Dracos and a pinch of obliviations

this was one of the best dramione fantiction that i’ve ever read! it was so well written… it’s was literally impossible not believe and feel how genuine their love was, how they would die and fight for each other… THE QUOTES 🤯🤧 i really don’t know what to say… i’m mesmerized, i don’t know how to live my life now that is over, top 5 on my fanfics for sure!

5⭐️+💗

I was hooked till halfway. The premise of lost memories and them less than gradually coming back was reminiscent of the GOAT Manacled, but then it slowed down and the memories and retelling of original story wasn't that convincing to me and I've struggled to finish it. Loved the last 3 chapters though.

This is up there with Isolation. Has everything I love in a Dramione fanfiction: secret relationship, bad-ass Hermione Granger, and memory loss. A LOT of information to digest but once again shows that Dramione not being canon was lazy writing and Draco deserved a REAL redemption arc.

Loved this fix. The timelines were confusing at first but once I got sucked in, there was no looking back. I’d say this is probably a new favorite

Okay, this fic had a really strong start but suuuuuch a lull in the middle that made you drag your feet to the end. I was thrown at first with how the chapters were set up, going back and forth in time as Hermione tries to recall what happened between her and Draco before she wound up in St. Mungo's, but once I got the consistent jumps in time it became easier to get through. I really liked the idea of her having a relationship with him at Hogwarts, but the way it was set up and executed felt so out of character for them both. I seriously doubt Draco would've ever been with her during school, and there's no way Hermione could pull a secret relationship hidden from Harry and Ron. I wasn't a fan of it, and the middle became so repetitive for me I found myself struggling to get through. The ending was a redemption point, but I'm unsure if this was worth a reread for me.

1 star- DNF'd
2 star- read through but didn't enjoy a minute of it or didn't like it enough
3 star- enjoyed reading
4 star- fell out of my seat, definitely re-read
5 star- a spectacular work that wrecked my very being and for that fact, may never want to touch again

”i wish i could see myself te way you do.” the idea of this book was really interesting, but the execution was lacking and predictable.
