PURGE combines written word and visual art to immerse you in catharsis — from identifying your wound to making amends with it, PURGE is the cleanse you’ve been longing for. As the author takes you through their reclamation of rage, you’re guided on how to do the same for yourself. With pages that include instructions on how to use art as tool to work through trauma, sections for journal entries/notes and an introduction to shadow work, this book is a transformative manual on how to use your pain as a means for rebirth — a reinvention for the artist and the defiant, a shedding unlike any other.
Jean-Marie Bub (she/her) is an artist, author, survivor and activist living in Harlem who is dedicated to raising hell with her truth. On both paper and canvas, she puts emphasis on reclaiming one's body after experiencing abuse and sexual trauma. Her work is aimed to legitimize women's anger, while holding space for survivors to uncover the feelings that become buried in rushed healing processes. She examines the guttural pain of womanhood, trauma, relationships and loss.
Very raw and real emotions. Definitely a source of information, inspiration and reality. This book can definitely help you feel less alone but also gives you strength and reassurance to heal yourself and become powerful.
