She's the maid of honor, he's the father of the bride.
Thanks to a snowstorm on the east coast, I'm the only member of my best friend's wedding party to actually arrive in Vegas as planned. But she has a plan... her father is going to pick me up at the airport, and we'll take care of the last minute wedding details together. Not in the plan? Sizzling chemistry with an older, off-limits man, and him talking me into sharing his suite.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Not if the father of the bride claims you as his own.
Chloe Maine has written other books before, but none of them as purely id-driven as Before He Was Her Headmaster. She delights in the fantasy of bending big men to the craven desires of supposedly innocent women. When she’s not writing, she’s probably reading. She lives in Canada with her own big man, raising the babies they made together.
Father of the Bride is the story of 42 year old single father Daniel who's been knocked for a six. He never expected to feel desire for his daughter's best friend when he bumped into her a few months prior. Now in Las Vegas together, there's no space to deny his feelings.
In this moment, she’s a beautiful young woman I’ve just met, and all our history fades away. I want to know everything about her. I want to make her fall in love with me.
Lusting after your besties father is harmless. Especially when 20 year old Rosie knows that nothing will come of it. Well that's until she finds sharing a hotel suite with Daniel and sneaking in time away with him. It's like the age gap and circumstances are all background noise...
The hand on the back of my neck squeezes hard, and the other curves around to find my breasts. “Fuck, Rosie.”
Yes, I want to say. He should fuck Rosie. He should fuck her here in a public pool before he thinks twice about it.
This story was cute, low on the drama, had a hint of daddy kink and perfect with a cuppa. It didn't set my world on fire but picturing the hottie on the cover the entire time certainly left me pleased.
I think it's time for me to take a break from age-gap, daddy kink romances. The ones I've read by Chloe Maine recently all seem to be carbon copies of each other with little depth and overdone sex scenes. If you enjoy the daddy kink trope then you will probably enjoy these stories, but I've decided they're not for me--except for BHWHH which I enjoyed.

I'm a simple, immoral, twisted, emotionally deviant girl.
I read:

Yes, Daddy, breed me.

And I'm generally a happy camper.
Just leave the "let's wait until you're ready"/"break it to people gently"/"finish school"/"I'm on the pill" rl vibes out of my fantasy erotica, yes? 🥰

The audio is amazing. Pure delicious smut from Jill and Adam and I LOVED it.

Genre/Tropes: Age Gap, Character-Driven, Novella POV: 1st, Dual Standalone within Conception Ridge World STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 —————— I swear Chloe outdoes herself with each book she writes. There is NOTHING better than age gap, smutty, intensely romantic shorter novels that all end in an HEA.
My guilty pleasure. My secret obsession.
Daniel was an amazing MMC. Absolutely crazy about his daughter’s best friend but he holds back. Rosie was so sweet and a bit naive but I adored her quirky personality and inner freak. A 20+ year age gap, the taboo tension of best friend’s father, and a Vegas weekend.
When Mel, the bride and the rest of the marriage party are stranded on the East Coast because of a storm, it’s up to Rosie and Daniel to make the final touches on the wedding. Their chemistry was palpable and so freaking sexy. Good lawd, Daniel’s dirty mouth about ruined me. And I was giggling at how direct Rosie was with him and how Daniel reacted to it all. That man wanted to breed his dirty girl.
The steam, y’all. Good grief. Once again, the daddy kink is superb. 🤌🏻 Add in the fact that Daniel is Mel’s daddy and he practically watched Rosie grow up? 🥵 (and no, he didn’t lust after her before she was 20)
I love the Conception Ridge world. The books are short but emotional. Chloe packs so many feels into a condensed story that also tops the charts in steam. I dunno how she does it, but I’ll be a devoted fan forever.
I'm being unnecessarily indecisive abt what book I want to read atm, so in the meantime, I'm just binging some Chloe Maine books 😭.
I didn't really enjoy this one as much as I thought as I would- it was a lot tamer than I was expecting, and I wasn't a huge fan of their dynamic- but I still liked parts of it.
This entire book is literally him sexualizing her and how young and newly legal she is. Also everything else is boring and the author uses the weirdest terms during any sexual scenes
Coming March 8! This one was such a joy to write. Here's a secret exclusive snippet:
We go to a farm-to-table restaurant in the next hotel over, and we’re seated at a community table after Rosie expresses delight at the concept to the hostess. Any protest I might have over sharing her with a table of strangers ends when we’re seated next to each other. The first thing Rosie does is lean in and whisper how good the menu looks. I take a long, shuddering inhale of her sweet scent and agree that I’m ravenous. Which she takes literally. “How hungry are you?” Jesus, she’s going to be the best kind of death for me. I slide my arm over the back of her chair. My fingers graze her far shoulder and her breath hitches. Her gaze doesn’t waver, though. If anything, the way she’s looking at me deepens, gets warmer. “Starving,” I admit. “I didn’t realize just how much.” “We should fix that.” A slow blink. “Their flatbreads sound amazing.” Food isn’t what I need. But it’s all that’s on offer. I squeeze her shoulder and turn to the menu. We take our time and order a few rounds of small plates and two refills of iced tea for Rosie before getting a group text message from Mel. “They’ve landed,” Rosie says, and I want to imagine that she sounds as bittersweet as I feel. Which is ridiculous because we should both be relieved the East Coast guests have finally arrived, and the party can begin. But when she twists around to look for the waiter, and her hand briefly falls to my thigh, all I want is to hit the pause button on our time. To freeze us in this moment while I figure out how to tell her how much I want to be what she needs. To show her I can be that adventure she craves. There’s no way to do that without ruining my daughter’s wedding, though, so I swallow it down and accept that I’ve run out of time.
If you are looking for a spicy best friend father’s relationship, age gap book that pushes boundaries… then this book is for you.
I picked this book up because I needed age gap recs for a TikTok video, and I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. Arriving before the wedding party in a Vegas wedding Rosie, the maid of honor and Daniel the father of the bride must help with the finishing touches. From the moment he picks her up from the airport it’s evident we are in for a ride and the author does not disappoint.
My first book by this author and definitely not my last. Great spice level, amazing writing style and compelling storyline.
I have enjoyed all of Chloe’s books so far. Her writing is smooth and character development is believable. The 🌶 level is high and fun to read! She writes age gap romance better than most in my opinion. Perfect combo of sweet and spicy, taboo and touching! Can’t wait for the next book by this author!
Romance trope: age gap; best friend's dad Length: 155 pages
Plot: Rosie has had a crush on her best friend's dad, Daniel, for quite a while now. But he's always seen her as just a kid - until now. Now they're thrust together to help with his daughter's wedding and in those close quarters, they both come to a realization: the bride isn't the only one in the wedding party who's in love.
Commentary: This one hit just the right spot for me. Daniel had never looked at Rosie until that night at the bar, and then I think he felt guilty at how much he cared about what happened to her. But he made up for that. Actually, I think Rosie's reaction to that night shows how young she really is; those hurt feelings are in large part a function of her youth. But he made up for it and really defended Rosie, even when his daughter seemed mad (even though there was a slight problem with that conversation - which was happily fixed without delay). If I can just say - her friend (Daniel's daughter) is a bit of a spoiled brat. The wedding was ridiculous and over the top and everyone was rushing around to give her everything she wanted, no matter how silly or inconvenient. And I get it - it's your wedding day and you want everything to be perfect. But settle down! Just because you have money doesn't mean you need to spend it all at once. Someone needed to rein her in. Honestly, I like wedding stories where the bride is like "hey, let's just elope and call it a day." It's not that I'm in favor of eloping but I'm definitely not in favor of the over-the-top wedding scene either.

One of the best spicy novellas I've read by far. Father of the Bride is a taboo, age gap romance tinged with a sweet budding romance between the two. Right from the start, I could tell there was great chemistry between the two and it was proven even more when they finally let themselves free (both figuratively and physically 🙈) I recommend it if you're looking for a book to get you out of your reading slump!
Lots of hotness. The H is insatiable and he acts more like her age then his. Dang once he starts he can’t stop. The interactions between H and h are freaking panty soaking. Wow!
The story is good and they are complicated to say the least. I don’t think my friend would be so accepting as hers.
Good little sexy read for sure. Received a copy from the author, but I would have read it anyway if I hadn’t.
LOVE! Such a great story. Love that Rosie is perfectly capable of caring for herself but Daniel wants to be the one to do it. Their chemistry is off the charts explosive!
~Rosie has always had a thing for her friends dad. She never thought she would be in Vegas with him alone. Daniel is now realizing how grown up his daughters friend is. How’s he supposed to keep his hands to himself when she shows interest?!~
Too insta-lovey for me. I didn’t believe the passion, the romance, and I definitely didn’t buy the never-ending love that was plopped in around the halfway mark. It would’ve been better if this had been an insta-lust, based on their lust only with eventual hints to the possibility of love but since this takes place over a few days I find it hard to buy that they fell in love. Yes they knew one another beforehand but not in a capacity enough to warrant Daniel declaring that he knew he wanted to marry her. Bah. Just far too much in too little time for me and the sex was quite awkward too. Too… I don’t know how to say it. Cringey. Awkward. Like too many kinks were being pushed into too little space without any of them being fleshed out. It just felt quite awkward overall. It was an okay read, but it could’ve been so much better.
In hindsight sight, maybe binging this series wasn’t the best idea. For one, I’m starting to get daddy fatigue, and second, it’s too easy to compare the stories - and I enjoyed the first two far more than the second two in this series. It’s not that I didn’t like the story, but it did take me three nights to read this novella, which is very telling for me.
At the crux of what didn’t work for me the last two books is that we’re expected to assume there is a familiarity between the hero and heroine since they’ve known each other for so long. But that’s just left something feeling empty.
Do I expect a fully developed plot and character development with these types of stories (especially if they are novellas)? No. But I didn’t feel short changed in the first two books in this series, so I know this author is capable of making me feel more…
I picked this up on a chance. I love a quick and dirty novella. This did not disappoint at all! Daniel and Rosie were everything I want in an age gap romance. The taboo nature of their coming together is perfection. If you are looking for a quick dirty talking age gap romance highly recommend this.
I've realised that smutty novella's aren't meant to be anything other than pure escapism. There are no life lessons, no nuanced seductions, no actual romance. It's literally instant gratification. And so authors need to commit. This middle of the road, bland stuff doesn't cut it. Either make it fucking ridiculous - which, let's be honest, all the good ones are - or write something so sweet it's toothache inducing. This was neither. Bland characters and old, washed up tropes. Meh.
-i really loved this omg -so sexy so cute and very short -unlike most novellas, this one had a plot that i loved -i want more omg!!!!! -definitely will be reading more books by chloe maine -i also love the best friend/ex/boyfriends dad trope so much !!!
