There’s a difference between a pastor who prays and a praying pastor. Prayer is an important spiritual discipline in the life and ministry of every Christian who is called to shepherd Jesus’s flock. The minutiae of ministry can wear pastors down and make prayer feel more like an obligation, something to do in church services and at hospital bedsides, rather than a desired or necessary activity. In The Praying Pastor, David Busic examines the vital role of an active and intimate prayer life, and urges all pastors to consider whether they need to make the transition from being pastors who pray to becoming praying pastors.
One of the best books on what it means to be a praying pastor that I’ve read. It’s not a dissertation on prayer, it’s a profound primer on the basics of pastoral prayer that every pastor should read and put into practice.
Thank you, Rev, Dr. David Busic, for your transparency in the writing of this book! I found it refreshing and inspiring! This is a tremendous book on the simple yet profound truths of prayer. Be prepared for a great challenge at the end of the book. I look forward to taking up this challenge in the upcoming year!
In my journey to understand prayer, I’ve read countless books on it from every angle. This book was simple, straightforward, and yet powerful and especially important for pastors, but anyone would benefit from it. I read this on Kindle but will get a hard copy because I had so much I wanted to underline.
what a book. You must read. Understand the heart of God
Dr. Basic does a great job of showing the average pastor what they need to be about. Praying…not just praying a list, but praying in intercession ways.
