TL manga fans, your [steam]ship has docked. Not that there hasn't been TL manga available in English before, but with the exception of Seven Seas' release of Fire in his Fingertips, most of it has been digital-only on platforms like Renta, so not only is it nice to have physical releases, but it's also great to see Seven Seas' gamble with the flirty fireman pay off.
All of that said, Outbride is definitely not my particular fetish, especially in a post-Roe world, and I kind of wish the publisher had pushed this back and launched the line with a different title. That poor Mashiro has somehow survived the fall of humanity only to be told that she needs to bear the children of four hot "celestial" guys (as in demi-human, not the old racist term for Asians) is, well, frankly kind of distasteful right now.
But if I ignore that, the execution is still well done and it's hard to argue with the four guys as Mashiro's harem, especially since they're all at least marginally interested in her consent. (Noel on the cover there wins the prize.) This will appeal more to readers who already don't mind the old "I can't control myself" trope or who like their reverse harems to MEAN it, because there's not much room for Mashiro to just ride off into the sunset with one of them due to plot constraints.
Long story short, decently done romance manga released with some truly unfortunate timing.
While I can foresee a lot of readers having issues with this manga, I really enjoyed it. The art was gorgeous, the harem of men very sexy, and for what is essentially smut, there's a decent amount of world building. Yes Mashiro doesn't have a ton of agency, but within this created world, this is actually her best option. And the "beasts" have a legitimate reason for needing her. Of course I hope feelings will develop in time, so I'll definitely be sticking around for more.
Outbride was actually pretty interesting regarding the story and world-building. This is a reverse harem romance where Mashiro wakes up in an unknown world where she is the only human female left. The air in this new world is toxic and requires something that only her new companions can provide to keep her alive. Did I mention that they are also obsessed with getting her pregnant? This story made me giggle and overall, I had a really good time.
I picked this up because it was a reverse harem, but unfortunately it wasn’t a light, fluffy read. These guys are heavy handed, and a lot of the scenes made me cringe. She would say “no” or “stop” and most of the time the guys didn’t care. It was less “I want to seduce you” and more “be my broodmare.”
CW: dubious consent/nonconsent, grief, loss of family
This surprised me. I was warned by a few people who had already read it so I was expecting a lot worse I think.
This is a younger main character though so do be aware going in. For me I really liked the concept of the world around the celestials needing humans to repopulate. I'm curious enough to order volume 2.
Dubcon galore. She also starts OFF as underage, but then *technically* isn't when the smut starts. The plot is ridiculous and forced, but I'm not reading it for plot. "Please receive my saliva before you sleep" is a sentence I never thought I'd read, but here we are.
No *real* smut in this one, just a bit of fingerbanging. Overall just setting up the background and plot.

There wasn't too much substance with this manga. If you enjoy reverse harems, I would recommend this but I think it's a bit too early to really get a good idea of whether or not this manga will be worth it. I will say that I was a bit thrown off by how quickly things progressed between the main character and her love interests but they do have an agenda so it makes sense that they would be eager to begin a relationship with her. However, it doesn't excuse the noncon elements and I thought this character was a high schooler? I may be wrong and have to revisit this once the second volume is released. But again, I'm not super eager by the energy some of the men are giving off. Again, it's a bit too early to say if this manga is worth it. It is very explicit as well so make sure that you prepare yourself for that. The art is stunning though but it doesn't do much to make up for the other content of this manga.
Low key was expecting primarily smut from this. There was a surprising amount of world building and actual story composing the majority of this first volume.
4 stars just because some of the dialogue is cringey, more so than I was already expecting. Solid first entry through, will definitely keep reading.
So I do think the author should be in federal prison bc why was she in highschool BUT they’re GOOD BOYS. and I love all of them! period!!! the one star off was because WHY WAS SHE IN HIGH SCHOOL. luckily shes actually like a thousand years old or whatever. the only thing saving this. ALSO THE GOOD BOYS.
This was pretty terrible and I’m going to keep reading it.
It says right on the tin that this is about a human girl thrown into a future where four powerful sort-of-men need to breed her to save their world. So up front we have consent issues, but I wasn’t prepared for her to be 16 when she was frozen for a thousand years. She’s of course a virgin, but has never been kissed or even flirted. However. This book doesn’t pretend to make sense or to be anything but entertaining trash. If you’re going to go with a reverse harem beast-men time travel/frozen for a thousand years breeding premise, why not reeeeally lean in, you know? So they do. The main character (who has no agency in this book but hopefully will later) gets sick and will die if the men don’t give her their fluids often enough. Kisses work, but only for a while, and the more species you can get saliva from the better. (You see where this is going.) Then we learn from one of the guys that “receiving fluids at your core” is much more effective and he proceeds to go down on her. Later, another guy is like “oh what’s his name did this to you, that’s why you’re not sick yet” and she’s horribly embarrassed but he’s like “okay, then I will too and btw here’s what an orgasm feels like.” Because she didn’t have one with the first guy and this one actually cares. Except of course then he says her body isn’t ready but when it is, semen received at her core is the most effective 🙃 This is a mess of a review but to be fair, this is a mess of a book. The rules are nonsense and the consent barely there and only in some places, but I knew what I was getting into and now you do, too!
I read the first four volumes back to back in one sitting so they are all kind of blending together, but the first volume introduces us to our main character, Mashiro, who is a high school girl with no experience in love. She tragically gets hit by a car and is awoken years later in the world of the celestials, where she is the only human to exist as the rest of the human species was eradicated a long time ago. When she wakes, she is confused and afraid, and the fact that four celestial beings tell her that they used their power to awake her for the sole purpose of impregnating her with all of their children only makes her more fearful. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't have the option to escape because of some type of poison that brings her immense pain that can only be quelled by the fluids of celestial beings, the more powerful the celestial being, the better. This is done through kissing in the beginning and eventually intensifies as the volumes progress. She has no agency in this particular volume, which makes this one the least enjoyable, but I do think that they got better as I continued reading. Of the suitors, I think Oma is way too old for her since we learn that he is twenty-nine at the end of volume four. Alfred and Noah are both seventeen, albeit in celestial terms (which is not explained), which I think is more age appropriate for Mashiro. As for Lord Fen Shen, I have no idea how old he is, and I may have missed it while reading.
This is wild. Funny and light(ish), but also dark and sad? CW for extremely dubious consent/noncon elements, big breeding kink vibes, and fuck or die plot device. Also, Mashiro is ~16 so if underage is your squick, keep that in mind. The story does some handwavey explanation that she's been in magic cryo for x-number of years, and supposedly the celestial dudes are sort of around her age? Alfred (ugh, the worst) and Noel are deffo 17, not sure on Oma and Fei Shan.
It's a weird story to wrap my head around because OTOH it's just isekai breeding kink smut so, expectations managed. But Mashiro is largely unwilling and freaked out, understandably so, and the 4 suitors are not all on the same page about how to explain things to her. She's absolutely not consenting for most of it, and the guys generally don't let up unless she literally says stop ('wait' and 'don't' get blown past), and really they just pause and hold her down so they can try to persuade her to get on board. Which she does, because of the fuck or die plot device where she'll die without receiving their magic fluid, administered via spit (for now lololol).
Which, fine, I knew what I signed up for when I looked at the blurb. But then this story also wants to explore grief and PTSD and the burden of duty/saving 'humanity'. There's a lot going on and the tone discrepancy pings back and forth between serious-not serious. I appreciate that there's some depth here, but I wish Mashiro would get better at advocating for herself. Tilt back toward dubcon, less rapey, at the very least.
ETA: I've now read all of the Steamship titles currently available except for 'I Can't Refuse S' and since FIHF reminded me that I prefer to read comics digitally, I'd say my order of best to worst based on the first volume for each series is: Game, a tie for second between I'll Never Be Your Crown Princess and Outbride with maybe the nod going to Crown Princess, Villainess and the Demon Knight, and then tied for last is FIHF and Ladies on Top.
It's a no from me, dawg. Two of them are minors. At least two of them. She isn't enthusiastically consenting and often just isn't consenting at all. And to make it worse, she has to cave to their sexual advances because there's this poison and the only way to cure the pain it causes is with celestial fluid and she's heavily affected by this poison. Then there's the angel guy and he's a no with his stupid expectations of her being pure and falling in love with him. The dragon guy is an absolute jerk who used her pain to make her beg for his fluids. I don't hate the demon guy yet but he's got a whole group of wives and apparently only sees women as baby makers. Then there's Noel who might be a cat or a dog or a fox person or something and he's the least awful but y'all! He's still all up in it! Like, NO. JUST NO.

CW: Consent/Non-Consent, Forced Love, Mass Genocide, Grief
I have conflicting feelings about this series. We follow a sixteen-year-old girl named Mashiro who gets hit by a car and wakes up in another world. Here she meets four Celestials that all want to have her child. The world has ended, and they want to use her to repopulate it. This is a shojo manga, which is a bit surprising for the adult content. I would have liked this more had it been for adults with adult characters. However, I do like the art. Also, one of the celestials, Noel, is kind and patient with Mashiro. I have a feeling he'll be the end game in this story, and I wouldn't mind that. Overall, it was a decent read. I'll probably still pick up volume two, but I'm not itching to read it right away.
Technically this isn't an isekai because plot twist, the world was destroyed and two thousand years have passed. The last remaining human, Mashiro, has finally awoken from her magical coma after getting hit by a car. Because she is the last human alive, she was chosen to give birth to a child from each of the celestial beings from the four remaining kingdoms. I made a review on my TikTok that visually explains this better. But despite the non-consensual aspects of this manga, it's an enjoyable read. It's not top tier romance or smut but it is a good read. I'd only recommend it to people that are just trying to fill the gaps between Yakuza Lover or Fire In His Fingertips. Or young ladies that like reverse harems and want something a bit spicy. Not the best but definitely not the worst.
