I heard about this on Booktok and it sounded like a fun concept. A girl who wants to get out of her engagement decides to lose her virginity at a masked ball to a stranger…who turns out to be her fiancé.

I like that this started out with a bang (literally) but it brought in concepts of magic and past lives that were left wanting and unexplained. Also, this had a lot of “no means yes” energy that I’m not here for.

I was happily surprised with my first dive into the new steamship titles!

I loved the set up for this and the smut was perfection. I can not wait to get Vol 2 and see where it all goes.

Also we have one very determined partner and a more hesitant one which is a favorite.

Oh man. This was better than I thought. I hope this turns into a dark romance with non/dub con and controlling MC. I just want her to resist and for the prince to take her anyway.

I really dont want anything soft and fluffy.

Marry her against her will! Make her yours! Hunt her down and bring her back to you!

Here's hoping the series takes a turn into the CORRECT direction.

Also, 5 stars for nudity and sex!
Give it to me!

Don't disappoint me manga!!!

I enjoyed this one much more than Outbride: Beauty and the Beasts Vol. 1 for a few reasons. The first is that it's just a less-skeevy concept, but the larger reason is simply that the characters are more interesting. Liddy is trying to take control over her second life while the prince is attempting to do the same; it's just that their ideas of how to do that are in slight opposition to each other. There's an attempt to make the sex a viable part of the plot, neither character is an idiot, and in general this reads like a regular old romance novel with pictures. Which, I suppose, it is - it's adapted from a light novel.

Based on the two I've read and what I know about a third title yet to be released, it seems like Seven Seas is really trying to have something for everyone in their Steamship line. I appreciate that, and that someone is finally truly paying attention to adult women who are manga readers with a targeted line.*

*Yes, I'm aware Viz first showed it was viable, but they don't have a dedicated imprint.

The misogyny? The man forcing himself on her? I would give it a 0 if I could

This was cute with an interesting twist, and I liked that we got the story from two perspectives. I'm just not quite rooting for this couple yet. Freed is clearly in love with, and committed to, Liddy, but I don't see Liddy having any feelings for him yet. She used him as a means to an end, and doesn't seem to want him around anymore. I'm open to a slow burn on her side though, so I'm willing to see where this goes in future volumes.

Liddy, the prime minister’s/duke’s daughter, doesn’t want to be queen. She detests that the king practices polygamy, so she decides to sabotage her engagement to the crown prince. Her plan is to lose her virginity to a mystery man and have the prince call off the engagement. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

Be warned that there are some explicit graphic scenes. I was surprised. I should have known since the manga was shrink wrapped.

As a first volume the story was fine; it laid the foundation. I mostly enjoyed it, but was disgruntled when the love interest forced something on the heroine. I won’t go into specifics, but will just say that I don’t like when someone’s choice is taken away, and I’m not a fan of cages, no matter how gilded.

The first volume was intriguing enough that I’ll probably at least check out the second one. Maybe.

I don't know how I read the premise on the back and still did not expect the porn. 😅
It loses the two stars for the unconsensualness of it all and also that horribly written novelization at the back.

I’m not going to lie, this one was a bit funny with how ridiculous the plot. Like, come on now. Royals practice polygamy, you can’t get married to a royal unless you’re a virgin, placing seals that are only transferred through sex non-consensually, etc., etc. The list goes on. I do ride the struggle bus sometimes when it comes to stories that are porn without plot, and it seems like that may be the case with this one but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I will say that the art work is really beautiful. I just really hope the story picks up.

Is this great literature? No.
Did the jacket copy tell me exactly what to expect and did the book deliver? Yes.

It was interesting to get the story from both POVs, first from hers and then his. I was worried it would feel repetitive, but it was well done.

Two things to note:
1) there’s a thing he does to her body without her awareness (it’s sexual but it’s like a marking not a sex act). The whole plot is ridiculous so it’s just another soap opera reveal but ymmv.
2) the censoring is not as “heehee it’s censored” as Dick Fight Island but it’s not as complete as Sweat & Soap.

This review will be for the whole series; read at your own risk!

Read 1 volume

Spicy isekai fantasy romance???? YES PLEASE. We don’t spend much time on the isekai part; a brief mention that she remembers her past life and sticks to Japanese traditions of monogamy rather than this country’s usual polygamy.

And the spicy scenes were really nice! It was more graphic than some others I’ve seen yet still somewhat censored.

I’m really looking forward to more!

I was looking for a quick manga to read that had some explicit scenes and this one delivered that but nothing really more.

I will say the first volume felt more fast pace than I expected. I was looking for a little more but the first volume did set up a foundation which will see if the second volume picks up.

I enjoyed the world-building and the build-up to Liddy and Friedrich meeting each other. I'm looking forward to volume two and Liddy's reactions to Friedrich backing her into a corner.

I also like that the MFC is at least 18 and, in her previous life, was older.

1/5 🌶️ (scale written in bio)

This was okay, I like liddy and I think the crown prince was funny. It was nice to see the guy be there obsessed one. I think m the spice worked in the plot, but I feel like it was just us reading about the same 3 scenes twice.
Overall it was a quick and easy manga to read.

This was a thing. It wasn't the greatest but like I'm intrigued. Half of it was repetitive because there was a hidden identity so you had to see both POV. I didn't realize it was 17+ (there is smut) when buying but it did have a plot.

This was actually pretty good. I wish there had been a little more angst, but we will see how it continues. I like how hungry he is for her. Makes it rather fun. I will be continuing the series as soon as possible. 😊

Not a great read. The FMC is too wishy-washy for me and the story is a little repetitive for my tastes.

Liddy, a duke's daughter who has memories of her first life, is in a pickle. She's been engaged to the crown prince for years. And in that same amount of time, she's been trying to free herself of that very predicament. She absolutely refuses to marry into the royal family where polygamy is accepted. Anyone else will do, just not a royal. But time is running out for her. Now she has to resort to drastic measures in order to achieve her goal. She believes her plan foolproof but little does she know that a different fate is set for her.

I've read both the manga and the web novel and since their contents are more or less the same, I'll consider this a review of both. This story is as fluffy as a story can get without triggering the gag reflex. Although Liddy was extremely averse to marrying Prince Freed in the beginning, circumstances that change her mind happen almost at the onset, and following that is essentially a pair of newlyweds in the honeymoon phase. I'm not saying they never leave the bedroom, although they're in there for a healthy amount of time. There are other things to read about other than their romance. There are a lot of diverse and interesting characters that the couple interacts with regularly. There are also clear story arcs that occur. Although their romance is still basically the foundation of the story.

The author has a very orderly way of sequencing everything and is especially good at creating characters that you want to read more about. It was really interesting to read the side stories and the different perspectives of the characters. It's also clever how the author tied her past life to her current one.

This one is a story that's really easy to digest and if you like the shoujo/reincarnation genre, I'd definitely recommend this. There are r-rated scenes in both mediums though so be forewarned.

I would've given this a 1 star but I reserve that for really shitty stories. This manga is slightly enjoyable but I find it to be a little rapey. So this is an isekai. The FL was an average office worker from Japan and reincarnates as a young noble lady in a fantasy world. There she is betrothed to the crown prince. However, polygamy is allowed in this world and as a modern Japanese woman she is a hardcore monogamist. In order to break off her engagement she tries to lose her virginity at a party to a legendary ladies man. Unfortunately for her the playboy turns out to the crown prince in disguise. Due to her forward and unusual behavior the prince falls in love with her (its really weird and sudden). They end up doing the deed and the prince "imprints" on her. He bestows (without her permission) a flower tattoo that brands her as the crown princess. So now he can't give it to anyone else AND she still has to marry him because she gave her virginity to the crown prince himself, which is technically not against the rules.
The crown prince is very creepy and a bit yandere (and not in a fun way). I don't like his behavior and even his close aide thinks its weird.
I just don't like this story, I probably won't continue. If you like this however, I recommend reading "Outbride: Beauty and the Beasts" and "I Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys All Love Me Anyway").

Content Warnings: Sexually graphic scene/images

When I first stumbled on the summary of this manga I knew I needed to read it. Now before I ordered it I actually wasn’t paying attention so I didn’t realize that when it arrived it would come wrapped in plastic with an EXPLICIT CONTENT warning on the back. I’m so used to manga that is suggestive or FTB [fade to black] when it comes to sexual situations I hadn’t realized until I received it, that I’d officially ordered my first explicit manga.

From the start, I found Liddy interesting. Since she was a young girl she’s had memories of living another life, a life in which she remembers being a full-grown adult and experiencing everything. Knowing that in this life she lives in a world that practices polygamy Liddy is determined not to marry since she wants to have a monogamous relationship where her partner is solely dedicated to her and no one else.

Also wasn’t fold of [sorry this is somewhat spoilery] Freed disregarding Liddy’s plea for a contraceptive before penetration with an “I’ll take responsibility”…luckily you find out that Liddy did in fact take measures ahead of time just in case but still it’s not cool that he disregarded her wishes and in fact was thrilled at the idea that she could be pregnant.

As a first volume, I was entertained and intrigued and look forward to seeing Liddy and Freed’s relationship progress. Not a huge fan of Freed already declaring love, when it’s [feeling like] just a case of infatuation and lust. Felt a little weird that Freed seemed to shame the kingdom for the way they traditionally go about having sex and forming sexual attachments…also [obviously] it’s archaic that the magic required to form a bond between a royal pair requires the woman to be a virgin. Still, I look forward to seeing what future volumes bring as I’m sure Liddy will be woo-ed by her future husband and hopefully the pair will help each other grow.

A lot of 5 stars I read lately as well as 1 stars. This one star is for the beautiful art. I bought volume 1 & 2 digitally and vol 1 physically because I was so sure I’m going to love it. I’m aware that her encounter with the crown prince was due to her intentions of losing her virginity so she didn’t have to marry the crown prince. Freed is a creep with his cringe dialogues. Every time he speaks it just makes my skin crawl because I get mad pervy vibes and that is not how I want to feel towards the main guy. Liddy is not the brightest either. How are you so set about having a monogamous relationship but resort to having a one-night stand with a womanizer stranger just to decline your engagement? Again, I’m aware that was disclosed in the synopsis but it could’ve been executed better. Since I cannot root for the MCs this series is not for me. I will not be able to stand the cringe dialogs from Prince Freed. Should have never read the short novel in his pov at the end. Returning all of my copies. Read this only of if you want to read some beautifully drawn smut.
