The “CATCH” No One Wants —is the story of Veronica Dawson a PK (pastor’s kid), who frantically searches for potential husbands in all the wrong places—a 32-year-old successful millennial, who is obsessed with getting married because she has already missed her original goal… to be a wife by thirty. Her father Greyson watches her wrong choices and sees the men mistreat his daughter; frustrated, he seeks God’s direction. Greyson’s answered prayers prompt him to use what he knows as an expert fisher.
He invites Veronica on a two-day fishing trip for a one-on-one intervention. She does not know that her dad is on a mission to rescue her through their Christian faith teaching about dating with an intent to marry.
As a seasoned fisher, Greyson sees the behavioral similarities between men and fish. For the intervention, he creates five metaphorical stories he shares with his daughter on their trip. Four stories represent the men she has the Catfish, who loves garbage, the Salmon who avoids getting caught, the Sturgeon who likes to nibble, & the Pufferfish who is beautiful until agitated —all highlighting the dating mistakes Veronica continues making even now. The fifth story—the Goldfish—represents the man God has chosen just for her. He is the CATCH No One Wants , and the husband she deserves was standing right in front of her the entire time.

This story is about a preacher’s daughter Veronica who is desperately searching for her husband in all the wrong places. She is supposed to get married by the age of 30 and she is now 32. Her father Greyson watches his daughter go through making wrong decisions on men. Greyson decides to seek God’s word for what to do or say to his daughter about her situation. God answers his prayers by using what he knows best - being a fisherman. In the story, Greyson discusses the analogy of men to fish to get Veronica in the mindset that SHE IS THE PRIZE!!!!! Greyson explains the similarities of fish to men. During their fishing trip with his daughter he tells her 4 stories related to the men she has been dealing with. The four fish are the catfish, salmon, sturgeon, and the pufferfish. The author explains who they are and the characteristics. I love the analogy Greyson gives his daughter. He does it from a place of love.
The pacing in the story is over a three day period. I love how the author was very descriptive and the story flowed smoothly. The story was explained very well and very engaging.
The setting in the story was very detailed. In some of the scenes the story was believable and it felt like I was right there with the characters. I like how the authors put different locations in California in the book. I would love to dine at the Dead Fish.
The characters were relatable and some were likable. I understood and comprehended some of the stories. Some Of the stories I could relate to. I love how the author incorporated some wise counsel in the stories. My favorite character would have to be Cousin Odessa, She was helpful and didn’t criticize her cousin at all. She listens without judgment and helps her through her mess. She was a great asset to the story.
The dialogue between Veronica and Greyson was genuine, polite, and understanding. I love the dialogue of most of the characters because they were honest, upfront, and didn’t hold back. I understood the dialogue and could relate. The dialogue made the story more entertaining and flowed smoothly.
The themes of the book were love, family dynamics, forgiveness, domestic violence, homosexaulity, church drama, self worth and self esteem issues.
The book cover is beautiful. The cover does dictate the theme of the book. The cover is brightm, colorful, and detailed.
I recommend this book to single Christian women on the dating journey and beyond. I give this book 5 stars.

This book is an absolute masterpiece! I could NOT stop turning the page. The way this book, the characters, and narrative came to life is nothing short of brilliant. The fact that we have all been Veronica at one point or another makes you drift into her shoes and see yourself. Grayson is the epitome of what a man and father is supposed to be. The love, wisdom, encouragement, and knowledge that he places in Veronica is truly unmatched. I loved every minute and look forward to more!

WOW is all I can say. I wish this book had been written when I was younger, I wouldn't have married a catfish. Every young woman should read this book when seeking a husband.
I know now that that 40 years ago I didn't wait for my goldfish and didn't pray long enough or didn't hear what God was telling me. But I do know it was God who got me out of that mess. Great read!
From beginning to end I was hooked!!!! No one could tell me I haven’t ran into every fish in this book at some point in my life! This book helped me realize that my husband now is a blessing from the Lord and I have worked so hard into becoming the woman God needs me to be so he blessed me with a help mate and a BOAZ. Dr Velma this book changed my perception of marriage, relationships and will help me teach my boys what fish they shouldn’t be and will also help me teach my daughters which ones to avoid!
This was my first time reading a book by this author. I enjoyed this book. I loved the analogies of the fish used in this story. This is a book that I would recommend to everyone. It was a great page turner. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
This book stole my whole heart. First the relationship between Veronica and her father is as God intended. This author touches on the very essence of what I call relationship wasting and living with the word of God as your road map. Comparing different relationships to types of fish is genius. This is a must read and a book to be discussed and shared. Dr Velma thank you.
