Supernatural Anime Of The Year Mystery Or Psychological Anime Of The Year Boy Of The Year Supporting Girl Of The Year
Barely escaping the deadly battle with Heine and Shide, Shinpei is thrown into the 5th loop with the help of Nagumo! The mystery of Hitogashima Island will finally be revealed! But someone in the dark is watching….
✨ Writing a grouped review as I started reading this series a few months ago and read it over a few months. I do not remember the specifics of each specific volume apart from the overarching story and specific ratings for each volume. ✨
As a sci-fi/mystery series this is not my most common genres but this series honestly surprised me in a good way.
There is a not insignificant amount of fan service, especially in the earlier volumes which I didn’t love but it gets better. The series does also get a bit more repetitive at times.
However, I would recommend this series. It is genuinely creepy and disturbing at times. Good use of the groundhog day trope as well
I've blown through this volume in one sitting, it's definitely more action packed than previous volumes, that spent more time on mystery and horror. As such it was quite a quick, but also fun reading session.
The time looping element is used in a really good way. The mangaka dropped repeating scenes, but jumps right into progressing the story and novelties. The situation is revealed to a large cast of characters this time, which is very satisfying. The time loops also have a natural weakness, so that this power doesn't feel imbalanced.
All the while, the book still manages to introduce new concepts and explain more about the background of the overall situation. It is a very enjoyable story and I'm keen to keep going.
Not as good as the last installment. The action got hard to follow again. We got answers but they came in a very confusion order, it would have been better if we'd got it in a more chronological order. I am still attached to the story and seeing as there are only 2 volumes left I plan to see it through. There was one other volume that got a little muddled and the story quality popped right back up in the next volume so I am banking on that again. Overall, I am still happy with this series.
My goodness, this was one heck of a rollercoaster ride. This is the best volume yet as it has pay off in many ways. We find out that the large shadow protecting Heine is in fact her first child and there is a person inside it. I thought it was the doc, but proven wrong pretty quick. It could potentially be the shrine guy. So this volume kicks off with an epic loss for our heroes when it is revealed that the mark on Shinpei allows Heine to always know where he is. Thankfully they recover pretty quickly, yet now the edge of the rendering is getting far too close and Shinpei has to survive extra long. We get the backstory of Hizuru, and here is a sad tale of her getting close to someone who simply wanted to live a moment of being a child, yet due to her nature as a shadow is forced into attacking Ryunosuke.
The main highlight of this volume is a wildly cool and calculated battle in the high school gymnasium.

Internal screaming as I read some of the pages in volume four without any spoilers it is one to read at night in the dark I kept looking over my shoulder to see if any shadows are lurking in the background. I love the little personal touches at the end between a shadow and a person it gives us a little insight of what next to come I can’t wait to read the final two volumes mostly to find out if my favourite two characters survive this mess of a island.
I did not expect this level of planning in this group. So that was interesting and it was a good review/ explanation of what is going on. I might be losing interest in this one. It is moving slow with the parts I am interested in, but I really love the dialect that it is written in. So I enjoy reading the words even if the plot and characters aren’t really interesting me now. But maybe it gets better?
Having lived through the worst possible scenario, Shinpei and Ushio loop back to recruit Nagumo and Mr. Nezu. Only for it to go horribly wrong (again) when Heine sees them coming.
So after another memory shuffle flashback to show us how Nagumo knew Heine, Shinpei has to readjust his plan as his time limit creeps ever closer. And closer. Soon he won't have any room for error.
This omnibus contains volumes 7 & 8. This series has 13 volumes.
I feel like the plot is really speeding up. Or perhaps that's just the time catching up. But either way, my heart's racing and I'm stressed out with the story. The thriller aspect is excellent.
I can't believe they can get so many allies this time! It feels like we're nearing the end, but that can't be. Fascinating.
The story continues to answer questions that I had in previous volumes and pose yet more questions for the next volume. Fast paced filled with action and beautiful manga panels. A rollercoaster ride that keeps you in your seat the entire time. If you have a chance check this volume out.
My only major complaint is that I wish the extra information they cram at the end was actually in the story. I’m not a fan of pages and pages of text in a manga. If the information was integrated it would be a lot more receptive.
I really love all the twists and turns. Such a page turner wanting to know what happens next. I really like that they have a bigger group of people to help fight now too.
Each book of this series makes it feel harder and harder to put down between sessions! I limit myself to one a month to try to not run out so quick. Looking forward to picking up #5 in June!!
Shinpei starts his fifth loop and realizes that the event horizon for his looping is catching up with him. If he is killed again too soon, he won't haven enough time, and everything will be set in stone. Heine, in the form of Shiori, has also started looping with Shin, and she susses out quite a bit about what Shin's been doing. The mark on Shin's arm also allows the Shadows to find him quickly. With these added challenges, the group must prepare their next stand against the Shadows. Ushioh, who now has the honor of being referred to as Ushio without the Shadow moniker, once again proves pivotal with her advanced Shadow powers. She helps bring other islanders to the cause by sharing her memories. She can also sever the link between Heine and other Shadows, which brings more Shadows over to help Shin's group. The reinforced group lays a trap for Shiori and Shide, an ultimate shadow with four arms and immense power.
With Shin's safety net almost gone, he has to start thinking very carefully about what to do and where to put his efforts because events are starting to be set in stone. As he loops, he's no longer going back to the ferry - he's looping later in the day and even into the next day right before Ushio's funeral. One thing this book would benefit from is a timeline of the events as they become set in stone so that readers can keep everything straight. At this point, I'm overwhelmed with trying to keep track of everything and just trusting the mangaka that the events are in order. This volume also finally reveals some really key points in how the Shadows came to be and who Shin is really fighting, so those reveals are rewarding for readers who have been sucked in this far.
