This unpretentious little book of meditations based on Scripture, ancient hymns, and writings from Church Fathers will nourish the souls of reflective seekers during the forty-day period of Great Lent. Authors of each meditation have delved deeply into the sins and shortcomings of their own hearts, enabling readers to share in a collective human experience - from darkness to light, from despair to hope, and from isolation to commonality in the body of Christ - as they move steadily toward our Lord s Resurrection.
2025 - Daily devotionals throughout the Lenten journey – it ties in the readings, the commemorations, the hymnography, and the saints. It’s a lovely way to start the morning.
2024 - Just reissued and revised, this is a great daily read of a meditation on one of the daily reading; a portion of a prayer of the day, with a thought; and then a saint’ s life. A good minute or two of prayer
This was my second time reading this book for Great Lent. I loved it even more than the first time I read it. It’s a nice companion for Great Lent; recommended for all Orthodox Christians.
