Can being Beau’s housemate and plaything, transform into forever love?

A one-night stand with my housemate wasn’t the best idea, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting seconds.

Beau is unexpectedly everything I want. He respects me and accepts me the way I am. He takes charge but relinquishes control to me when I feel the need.

Nothing’s ever simple. He might be the Mister Right I didn’t know I was looking for, but he has family issues and we’ve agreed to keep our fling secret from our housemates.

Will he ever want me to be more than his secret plaything?

Plaything is an mm D/s romance. It includes sexy role-play, cross-dressing, spanking, breath play, and a small amount of hurt/comfort. It’s the second book in the My Kinky Housemate Series and, while it can be enjoyed as a standalone, you’ll find out more about the housemates in book one, Sugar Bunny.

4 “I love you. I trust you“ stars

“I’m yours, Beau. Your plaything, your lover, your partner. Now and hopefully for a long time to come.”

This is a low angst book with some hurt/comfort, with role-play during the sex scenes, including a maid one, a prison one and many others and breath play. Which, if you were to ask me what my definition of a book I want to read is, it would be exactly that. Everything about this book is stuff I love in books and I loved how it was done in this book.

I just read a book that emotionally shattered me, and I still don’t feel alright from that reading experience, which is why I can only read books that bring me comfort at the moment. And Colette Davison is my go to author for that. Her books are always hits for me and it was definitely the case for this one too.

I have already read this book a couple of weeks ago, but I kept thinking about this book and wanted to re-read it and now was the perfect time for me to do so. And I enjoyed this book as a re-read just as much as I enjoyed it the first time I read it.

I absolutely adore books with a lot of comfort but still low on angst, and a lot of kinky and very hot sex scenes and Colette Davison is one of my favourite writers for that, she always provides me with everything I want in a book.

Brief Summary
Beau and Fraser are roommates and they have a rule on to not get with their roommates but they cannot resist the pull towards each other and they have sex. But then they keep being attracted to each other and having sex together and they end up falling in love with each other.

First, this book was just so sweet. I absolutely loved the hurt/comfort in this one and how Beau and Fraser were always there for each other and to make each other feel better. These two were just so cute and supportive and I loved reading about them together. This book just made me swoon so much because it was just the sweetest thing.

Second, I really enjoyed the relationship development in this book. I liked how they took their time getting to know each other and how they slowly fell more and more for each other through their interactions. I really loved how their relationship progress and the simple way in which they fell in love. I thought that that part was so sweet and I really appreciated it.

Third, I loved Beau and Fraser as a couple. They had such good chemistry and they fit together so well. I loved how well they complimented each other and how happy they seemed to make each other.

Fourth, I feel like we need to talk about the sex scenes and the kink in this book because damn were they great. This book has role-play, breath play and a dom and sub relationship and I just loved all of those scenes so much, they just were perfect to me. I loved how all of the scenes were very diversified and each of them were ever better than the last ones, they were just so good to me. This book was just so hot and I absolutely loved that part of the book. I absolutely love sexual role-play in books and it’s rarer to get some in books and this book gave me all of the scenes I was craving, and I loved how much role-play there was in this book. I loved how they had multiple role play scenes and how they were all different from each other. Also, did I mention how there is a maid scene, a prison scene and many more in this book? This was just everything I wanted in a book, and I absolutely loved it. This book was just so hot and yes that might be a big reason why I loved the book, but I’m a simple person, you give me a lot of really hot sex scenes and I more than likely will love your book, and it definitely was the case for this book.

Also, that prison role play sex scene, holy shit that was great. I loved it, so much. It’s seriously one of the best sex scene I have ever read, it was just that good.

Fifth, I really loved the side plot in this book. It was all about Beau who has a father who isn’t very good to him and it was about how Beau deal with the situation and how he keeps giving his father chances even if he doesn’t deserve them. And the way this topic was handled was just perfect to me and I loved reading about it so much. It was so realistic in the way it was portrayed, and it really worked for me.

I just had the best of time reading this book and it was exactly what I needed at this time in my life.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Upgraded from 3 to 4 stars after my BR friend kicked my arse for being a grump. Fair. This is actually pretty good and things really only move fast right at the very end.

Cute and sweet story set in London. Low angst. I like how this story follows a femme guy without any drama about his appearance or having him portrayed as some ditzy bimbo. I like Beau’s backstory. Things just moved so quickly and I would have loved some more relationship development and depth.

Remember what I said in my review of book one? That not so long ago I was innocent as a babe? Well now I've added role play to the repertoire of kinks I love to read about 😅.

In the bonus chapter of the previous book we have Beau and Fraser, leaving a club together and very obviously on their way to hook up. Beau, Stefan's twin, a rather earnest lawyer. And Fraser, who loves dressing prettily, more often than not wearing feminine clothing, and loves sucking lollipops. So not the most likely pairing, but after that very hot hookup, they can't seem to get enough of each other.

So yes, first there's friendship, then sex, and only then they fall in love. And made me fall in love with them, too.

It felt so natural, so inevitable, and thankfully so without any form of pretense or relationship drama, because they both behave like adults. Adults with kinks, I might add - Fraser is into role play, and I loved how carefully they planned and staged their scenes. And Beau is into "breath play", which is exciting to read about, but sounds scary in real life, at least to me.

And I agree - the "prison scene" was one of the hottest scenes I've read about 🔥🔥🔥

All in all another eye opening (and temperature increasing) book by Colette Davison, and I'm looking forward to book 3 that's going to be released soon.

i’ll keep this short. the writing is beautiful.
but you’re probably here for the smut. the smut is exceptional.
role play+breath play= me flustered like a virgin in the 1800s.

i’ll read the next one even if it’s about puppy play, which isn’t my jam but this author made me like bunny play soooooo i’ll definitely give it a try.

Plaything is the second book of a series about a bunch of guys sharing a house in London. I haven't read the first book, and maybe I should have because some references to details or events from the previous book made me feel like I was missing something. Also, almost all of the side characters and the main ones had already been introduced there. It wasn't a struggle to follow the story, though, as it's about a different couple.

So, Fraser and Beau, two of the guys sharing the house, start with a one-night stand, which turns into a casual hook-up arrangement, then casual dating, and then finally into committed boyfriends. I generally like this story arc where something casual turns into something serious and feelings creep up on the characters, but the pacing was off this time. While the way the relationship progressed was lovely to read, everything happened way too fast, and they moved from one stage to the next at the speed of light. Why go through those stages if they shift from one to the next so fast? It was like they didn't know what they wanted and couldn't make up their minds. Each of those stages lasted for one meeting at the most, and then they were on to the next. The whole story took place in less than a month, if I'm not mistaken, except for the epilogue, which was set a few months later.

I liked the story a lot, all of the characters were interesting, and I wanted to know more about their backstories. I especially liked the scenes where all or most of the flatmates were present. The ones where they played get-to-know-you games were fascinating, even if they did drag out a little. I really liked Theo, and I think his story will be next. I'm also looking forward to Stephan's story (he's Beau's twin brother). Also, I should mention that, even though there's a happy ending for this couple, some of the side story arcs aren't resolved by the end of the book. I think they'll probably continue on Stephan's story.

I think this will be perfect for anyone who likes insta-love stories and doesn't mind the moving-forward-too-quickly thing. It's a light-hearted read for the most part, but it has some heavier moments. It was an interesting book, and I think I'll check out some more of the stories as they get released.

What a kinky ride! Having read the first in this series, I wasn’t sure what to expect coming into this one. We knew Beau was a Dom and Fraser a feminine sub and into role play but that’s about it.

I have read books with role play scenes but none where it is the main kink throughout the book. And I’m so glad I did because it was FUN. They totally immersed themselves into the scenes and they were so sexy to read. FYI, one is consensual non-con, but the author does an excellent job writing it in a way that the characters have their check in code words and the internal dialogue is resoundingly consensual. It just worked so well.

The growth of Beau and Fraser’s relationship was so dang sweet. What starts as two people just using each other for kinky fun turns into a really lovely friendship and commitment I simply enjoyed reading. And Fraser’s support while Beau goes through some difficult family issues… it was just all really lovely to read. And has a really satisfying HEA. I also love the growing bond between all of the roommates. Can’t wait for more.

What can I say, I inhaled this story, I adored it. It had everything you can wish for in a sweet, kinky story!

Is it a stand-alone? absolutely, only you just don’t wanna miss out on Sugar Bunny, now do you?

They all live together in a big house, there’s room for eight, they have their own space, and are all, one way or the other, part of the kinky community. They are selected on that particular aspect. It works, a bunch of guys, sharing a house and free to expose or talk about their kinks.

After a party two of the roommates, Beau and Fraser end up in bed together, it’s a one-time thing, and they won’t talk about it anymore. Ha! as if they could forget it! Beau is a Dom and Fraser a sparkling vibrant role player with always a (sugar-free ) lollipop in his mouth. Look at the beautiful cover that’s him

Fraser had a role play date who canceled, when Beau accepts Fraser’s offer to have a good night, both couldn’t imagine on forehand, how their chemistry worked out so fantastically.
One play gets two, gets three… oh boy, prepare yourself for some delicious kinky time!!

There’s much more in this story, the game times with the housemates, Fraser’s and Beau’s personal life, the interactions of all characters, it’s so captivating and beautifully written. Not one dull moment.

There’s minimal stress, those parts are about family matters, quite realistic btw.
I love this story very much, both Beau and Fraser are wonderfully developed characters, you will love them.
The scenes are diverse, kinky, and delicious, the emotions felt real and honest. All written in an easy-going captivating way, very appetizing and enthralling.
With just enough story revealed about the other housemates I’m dang curious what the next story will bring.

My new favorite book by Colette the friendship between these two characters was perfect and the way it lead into their relationship with no questions as to whether they really wanted each other and could make it work was sweet. That didn’t hold a candle though to the kinky role play because Omggg can I just have all the books with this in it! Each scene was unique, Uber hot and increased in intensity especially that last one! I just want so much more of them on their sexcapades please and thank you! This series is shaping up to be a definite top favorite and reread list approved!!

“We fell into bed and then into love.”

There's a lot to love about this series:

Fleshed out characters with flaws.
Natural kink acceptance.
The way each kink is portrayed and explored, in particular the safe words and boundaries discussions that are never stilted and weird.
Found family.
Having positive relationships outside of the main pairing.

Basically I could go on and on for days. I just loved how Fraser and Beau did like the quote said, they communicated well and not only were the kink scenes fire, there were lovely intimate vanilla scenes too. Every step felt like a natural progression and Fraser encouraged Beau to step over that gap that was widening with his twin and brought them closer together

One of my favourite things about Plaything, by Colette Davison, is the world she is building with the My Kinky Housemate series. I have read and enjoyed the preceding book, which I believe deepened my enjoyment of Plaything, but readers can still appreciate this title without having read the previous story.

Both Fraser and Beau are well defined characters who fall quickly in lust before allowing it to bloom into friendship… and then more. Readers who delight in the fast fall to love and swoony sweetness will join me in relishing this adorable tale of close personal connections.

This story has much more than sizzling hot scenes and kinkiness between the sheets. There are real life matters which affect the surrounding characters that are addressed delicately and bravely by the author. Family drama and work situations create opportunities for friends and housemates to lend support and form bonds which warm the heart.

The vulnerabilities shown by both Fraser and Beau with each other, throughout the course of the story, endeared this book to me. There is a lot of depth to Plaything and I thoroughly enjoyed every page – never a dull moment!

Fraser’s unapologetic self is another highlight of Plaything and I applaud Colette Davison for making such a strong effeminate character, whilst not making it a loud plot point. I’m really excited to continue the My Kinky Housemate series and look forward to spending more time with this group of fascinating men.

Four and a half stars rounded up to five.
I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This is book two in the My Kinky Housemate series and follows immediately on from book 1. It can be read as a standalone.
We have a number of housemates in this share house but Plaything concentrates on Fraser and Beau, who is one of the twins. An early hookup in the book leads Fraser and Beau on to a relationship concentrating on role play. We have cross-dressing, spanking, breath play and some very hot sex scenes. What starts out as casual ends up with a relationship of two delightful young men. Throw in a toxic relationship with a family member and we also have some hurt/comfort scenes although these are few and far between.
The book is very well written and I really didn't want to put it down. Damn the need for sleep.
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.

4.5 stars🔥A great start to the book as the guys in the house wake up totally oblivious to Beau's hookup the night before. lol
Beau and Fraser are housemates and finally giving into their attractions for each other.
Now with 7 housemates with a spare room with Oscar moved out needing another to share the house experiences.
An adorable story as scenes play out yah I thought their one and only time wouldn't last. Sexy scenes included for the Plaything aka Fraser being well matched with Beau. Baggage with the twins Beau and Preston's father causes problems for Beau.
This has scenes of a drug/alcohol addiction effected person for a secondary character.
A great book to feature the whole household characters and focuses on Beau and Fraser. Some great 🔥🔥 role playing scenes between them. Written with both pov's with a HEA.

Beau and Fraser’s developing relationship is super hot, as you might expect, and also super sweet and just incredibly fun– I liked, so much, how these guys moved from casual fling to friendship to more. The communication between them is strong, and it shows in their scenes and in the way they relate to each other everywhere else as well. Separately and together, they’re absolutely the kind of characters that are easy to root for, and it’s fun to watch the ways being together makes them see each other, and themselves, in new lights. Extra points to Beau too for diving into the idea of role play with creativity and care. Tl;dr: Sweet, hot, and well worth a read.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Plaything is the second book in Colette Davison’s My Kinky Housemate series. The books focus on a group of men brought together through an app due to their shared interest in kink. From a romance standpoint, this book stands alone perfectly (though we do get a bonus scene at the end of Sugar Bunny that shows Beau and Fraser at the bar before their hookup). There is definite camaraderie among the roommates, and we see them all interacting here more often than in the first book, perhaps because both MCs live in the house. But I do think we get enough background on the various housemates that you can easily jump in here.

Fraser and Beau turned a "one and done" into an "often and maybe forever" and it was fantastic! Being housemates, these two shouldn't be hooking up with each other, but when the need hits....it's better than either of them could imagine! Fraser brings out Beau's creative side when he introduces him to a bit of kinky role play. Beau may be new to it, but he takes to it like a champ. Fraser may act like he just wants to be a plaything but the way Beau makes him feel...maybe he's finally ready for more. The interactions between these two were so sexy and sweet! This is book 2 in the My Kinky Housemate Series and I highly recommend it for your reading enjoyment.

Super fluffy but VERY cute. Breath play is my kink, so I'm always down for a book that includes it. This was a much better read than I thought it would be going into it!

Kinky and fun and I loved it!

I loved this second book in the Kinky Housemates series. I apologize for keeping this review really short but I can’t see very well to type. I smacked my forehead on a doorframe during the night and my right eye is swollen shut.

I’m really intrigued by the new housemate, Quinn, and can’t wait to read more about him.

Plaything is the second book in the Kinky Housemate series by Colette Davison. This book is about Beau and Fraser, 2 of the housemates you met already if you've read book 1.

I loved their story. It was sweet, cute, sexy, full of feels and very well written

PLAYTHING is the second book in the My Kinky Housemate series and definitely best read after Sugar Bunny. In this one, we learn more about one half of the twins, Beau, and Fraser.

There is a slight crossover at the beginning as Oscar is moving out, but then they're on their own. The relationship between Beau and Fraser changes from housemates -- to playing -- to something a whole lot more serious. The sex side stays full of fun and steam. This is sweet without giving you a toothache.

Although I was carried away with this story, it didn't quite push as many buttons for me as Oscar's story did. So, for me, this would be a 3.5-star read, although I've rounded it up for the blog and for Goodreads.

Perfectly paced with lots of interplay between the housemates, more than in book one. Definitely a good addition to the series and recommended by me.

I had so much fun reading Beau and Fraser's romance, from their inventive roleplays to their sweet, thoughtful dates. It always gives me a little thrill to read about characters who are so confident and sure in who they are, and Fraser wasn't shy at all about broadcasting his authentic self to the world. I loved the way he took an active role in pursuing Beau, first for a night of steamy fun, and later for a more exclusive, strings-attached relationship. I don't see many other authors writing about couples who roleplay, and I have to admit it's becoming one of my favorite ways to see people connect. I found it fascinating how Fraser and Beau could put on a totally different persona and get so engaged in the storyline they set up for themselves, and it led to some seriously fun, hot nights together. Fraser kept calling himself Beau's plaything, and playful is exactly how I'd describe their initial hookups. The light, happiness of their time together was a nice contrast to the weightier family situation Beau was dealing with. While it broke my heart to see his disppointment and pain, it made me really happy to see him lean on his brother and Fraser to get through it. In fact, Beau opening up to Fraser was a real turning point in their friendship, and it was one of the first times I sensed that the two of them might be open to an actual romantic relationship. I wouldn't say these two lept into dating without thinking it through, but once they realized how much they enjoyed being around each other they certainly didn't try to fight it. Sure, they put up a token amount of resistance and tried to sneak around the house so their housemates didn't find out about them, but only for as long as it took them to realize that what they were feeling was love.

Sweet with lots of heat!
This is the second book in the My Kinky Housemate series, and it's excellent. Not only do we get to know all the housemates better, we get the incredibly sweet and sexy romance of Beau and Fraser. Beau is a dom who can't resist his attraction to housemate Fraser. After what is meant to be a one night stand, Beau enthusiastically agrees to try role play with the other man. The results are HOT, and the men decide to continue with their secret no-strings liaisons. Of course, it doesn't take long for the friendship and sexy times between Fraser and Beau to turn into feelings that neither is ready to dismiss. I love every minute of it!
We get to know more about Beau and his twin Stefan, and their absolute love and support of each other is heartwarming. We meet Fraser's parents, who have a pretty awesome love story of their own, and the "little brother" Fraser mentors. We also spend more time with all the housemates, including the new guy who moves into the room vacated by Oscar (from book one, Sugar Bunny). It will be so easy to cheer for each one of these men as they find their own HEA.
I am loving this series so far, and I will be here for every installment. I appreciated the glimpse of Oscar and his men here, and I hope to see more from them in the remaining stories. I also look forward to seeing more of Beau and Fraser as the series continues. Emotion, friendship, and lots of steam make this a definite favorite that I'm thrilled to recommend!

Plaything is a sweet and kinky romance between housemates, Beau and Fraser. We met both men in book one but find out so much more about them here. It can be read as a standalone but I think it offers more to read them in order.
The two actually start as a one night stand, which was teased at the end of book one, but their attraction and compatibility is strong enough that they can't keep away from each other. There are several hot and kinky scenes they play out, which works well given the trust they have in each other to perform certain acts including breath play. What surprises them is wanting to be with each other outside of the bedroom as well. Fraser is a great support to some family drama that Beau has going on. He has his twin, Stefan, who also lives with them but it's good to have a support system and Stefan's views are a little different to Beau's in this aspect.
We get to know a little more about the housemates and are introduced to a new one after Oscar moved out to be with his partners in book one. We also get a sweet tease of book three at the end of this one.
Definitely a recommended read, another sweet and sexy read from Colette. I love the development for the characters and their relationship. Things move fast for them but it all feels natural and right for them. Looking forward to the next in the series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Redemption! While the first book in the series was great, I was concerned about not being able to really develop a connection with the characters because the descriptions felt vague and the story felt a little fast. But with this additional book complete, the connection with the characters is building stronger. It’s almost like a slow-burn relationship between the reader and the characters and I’m loving it.

This book focused internal to the house, on Fraser and Beau. From book 1, we’d think their kinks wouldn’t align, but oh would we be wrong. These two find out so many new things about themselves and I enjoyed their experimentation as well as their comfort in all their interactions. Furthermore, we get to see a lot of their backgrounds and find a wide range of both heartbreak and security.

I really fell in love with Beau, and enjoyed Fraser. Their story wasn’t overly complicated and overworked, and the book flowed so smoothly through all the ups and downs. It also sets the stage brilliantly for the next book.

Ultimately, I’m probably going to want to review the series as a whole rather than individual books because they feel so connected, but regardless, I’m loving the series.

This book picks up immediately on the heels of the first in the series, and while this can stand alone, why would want to miss out on the excellent first book? Despite focusing on completely different kinks, Fraser and Beau's relationship is just as sweet and surprising as what I enjoyed about Sugar Bunny.

A one-night stand turns into casual (but kinky) hookups turns into accidental feelings. Beau must navigate a surprise relationship with the drama of a toxic family member. Luckily, Fraser and his twin Stefan are both there to support him.

The external plot of this book doesn't necessarily have a happy ending, but sometimes the best endings aren't. I might be giving the ending of the relationship plot a bit of side-eye, but like Fraser's parents, I have no room to complain (I married the guy who moved in with me after dating about 3 months, after all). I hope both of these men continue to be recurring secondary characters for future installments of this series, and I'm definitely looking forward to what comes next.

Plaything is book two in My Sexy Housemates series. You should read in order but I did okay reading this first. I did read the first several chapters of Sugar Bunny so I was familiar with the characters snd their kinks also there are references to the roommate that moved so I wasn’t sure what they were referring to. Having said that the story focuses mainly on Beau snd Frazier’s relationship and Beau’s brother’s twin Stefan. There are cameos of the others.
The story starts out hot and gets even hotter.
With Kink in the series title expect plenty. Though the story was well-written and though it’s a lot of sex it all adds to the story.
I adored Frazier and his bravado. It takes a lot to be yourself and wear what you like. Of course Beau was a sexy Dom with a good heart. I loved the role plays and though I’m usually not one for explicit sex I enjoyed reading them. It was like mini stories. I think the book would have suffered without them.
If you like D/s, fast moving relationships, role play and an all over fun read this is for you.

It's a few years this author is an automatic read for me. While I may like some stories more than others, there's never a miss, and I always finish a book having enjoying it. Therefore, it was no surprised that I enjoyed Plaything so much.

From a one night stand to a no-strings kind of arrangement, where the lines definitely got blurred, until eventually the boundaries completely disappeared... and Beau and Fraser fell in love, somewhat reluctantly. Pretty straightforward, emotional development, with extra spice. Beau and Fraser had a great chemistry and their sex scenes were incredibly steamy, while the romantic buildup offered very little drama or angst. I found myself completely drawn in. I adored both Beau and Fraser, and wanted nothing more than for the two of them to take what they found in each other and run with it.

Plaything was a real treat. Well written characters, believable romantic development and a hot dynamic, wrapped up with a fulfilling HEA...loved it!

Brilliant

This was such a great read. I absolutely loved these two together. There really was no relationship angst between them. I loved how well they communicated with each other.
Beau was sweet and endearing and I loved that he was only dominant in certain scenes of the bedroom. Typically the dominant one in these books are dominant all through out the bedroom scenes. But in this book we got a bit of it all. Fraser was awesome. I loved having a look at his family life and seeing his interactions with Joey. However I feel like we got to see a lot more of Beau then we did of Fraser. Maybe that’s because the angsty pets of the book was centered around Beau.
I was so happy we got to see more of the housemates! I’m obsessed with Hendrix and can’t wait to know his story! And Stefan too! And we get a new housemate in this one!
And OMG the role playing in this book… wow that was insanely hot! Overall this was another amazing read. I can’t wait for the next!

Kink, flirting with housemates, and so much more.

The second book in the series and a wonderfully written book full of kinky housemates, we meet them all again. However, we focus on Beau, one of the twins and Fraser, beautifully dressed in skirt suits and a legal secretary.

They hook up once to do a kinky scene in a hotel, but will that be enough for this odd couple, and where does Fraser disappear at the weekends.

Who doesn't love a bit of kink while reading an MM book, it can't just be me, and in this book, we get kink, breathe play, D/s and spankings.

The characters were spot on, and I loved the dynamics between them. The story was intense in parts but also loving and squishy in others.

Great series, and I love how Colette writes, and I can't wait to hear this series in audio.
