Features: A mountain man and younger BBW curvy girl romance. Small-town instalove themes.
Sarah I never intended on staying in Pink Springs for long. After helping my sister save her business, it was supposed to be back to the city for me. At least, that was the idea when I still had a job to go to. Now, I'm floating in limbo and living out of my sister's boyfriend's ranch. It's not all bad, though. Kane's here, and he's a real treat for the eyes. But there are more pressing things to worry about. Like saving Harlow's ranch. Working out what I'm going to do with my life. And figuring out exactly who kissed who when Kane and I locked lips in the forest...
Kane Nobody ever prepares you for life after service. I've been back in Pink Springs for years, but I feel like I'm stuck watching the same rerun. Every day, my bro and I try to keep the ranch running while looking after mom. And every day, I'm haunted by the memories of my buddy who never came home. I'm beginning to think I'm cursed. A bad luck charm. Every day is hard work. That's why, no matter what, I won't bring Sarah into my world. When Harlow's ranch comes under threat, though, she rises to the challenge. And no matter how many demons I'm fighting, it's getting harder and harder to keep my distance from this curvy woman.
Six of us enlisted, but only five of us got to board the plane home. From the second our boots hit the dust bowl, we made a promise forged in blood. If any one of us lost our lives in that godforsaken desert, we'd all pitch in to look after our fallen comrade's family. When Harlow met his end, it's a promise that we stuck to. And in Pink Springs, Vermont, we all found something to keep our hands busy inbetween taking care of Harlow's kid siblings and parents. Laid-back jobs, storefronts and eateries full of small-town charm, and the curvy girls who stole our hearts.
A mountain man instalove romance series, featuring alpha males, older man and younger, BBW woman partners, and hunky mountain men who have to have their curvy girl. There's no cheating and no cliffhangers. HEA comes as standard!
Fantastic conclusion to the Veterans of Vermont series and a beautiful romance between Kane and Sarah. They are two people who have experienced loss, and Sarah is exactly what Kane needs to learn how to live again. This series focuses on five friends who move to a small town in Vermont to care for the family of their friend who died in combat. Kane took that loss the hardest and became a shell of himself. Sarah lost her boyfriend and understands better than most how hard it is to live again. When their friend’s family needs their help desperately it gives both Kane and Sarah a purpose that they embrace whole heartedly. I loved the conclusion of both this series and the romance that was built for this terrific couple.

This is the last book in the series and concludes with an emotional scene involving the five men who made it home honoring their fallen comrade. The story itself lacks depth of characterization, has some scenes that were stretching realism, timing issues and I really didn’t like the female lead.

This is the last book in the “Veterans of Vermont” series and we have the love story of Sarah and Kane. We also revisit the five men who made it home and who are honoring their fallen comrade, Harlow, with all of them there in Pink Springs to take care of Harlow's family and save the ranch.
Sarah also does her part as she becomes one of those who is honoring Harlow’s sacrifice, helping her sister and Harlow’s family. She is part of all of them. And her being there is helping Kane with his personal struggle over losing Harlow in that horrible ambush he can never forget. All of these stories were so well done and touched the reader’s heart. Brotherhood is not just a word; it’s what holds them all together in their shared experience and their care for one another.
Kane did everything he could to save Harlow after being hit by a sniper, but unfortunately it was not in the cards. Now he is doing his best to fulfil the promise to take care of his family, but the pain and lost on most days is too much.

Kane is very quiet, and he likes staying outdoors. When he meets Sarah, everything starts changing, even his darkness begins to disappear. She’s lively and positive. Sarah has always lived under her sister’s achievements. However, she is quite smart and her ideas to raise money to help save Harlow’s ranch just do the trick. We finally get to know what happened with Harlow. It is hard to lose a brother in arms as he is like family, but life goes on. Short, sweet and enjoyable. The author has taken us back to Pink Springs to spend time with our friends and to meet some new ones. Kane is still having trouble with the thoughts of losing one of his military brothers, however, being around Sarah lightens his thoughts. Will she be able to help him or will he push her away?

I can’t believe what Kane wrote about her and making it so sweet and sincere!!!!! Sarah was definitely generous and making sure Harlows family never had to worry again!!!!! Definitely ended this book in tears!!!!!
I felt a connection to both Sarah and Kane reading this, I also wanted to kick Mace! I loved seeing Sarah come into her own and in doing so help Kane find his way back to a good place. It was nice to see that the promise made at the start of the series was kept.
