It’s not the first time Edith’s husband, Joe, has lied to her. But it will be the last.
When she finds photos of a mysterious woman on her husband’s phone, the heartbreaking implications are all too familiar, and Edith sets out to discover her identity. What starts as a desperate search for answers quickly becomes a terrifying spiral of obsession and subterfuge.
With each new secret uncovered about her life, her marriage, and the man she loves, Edith is left with even more questions.
What exactly is Joe hiding? Who is the woman in his photos?
Refusing to accept Joe's lies any longer, Edith soon finds herself living a double life, telling lies and keeping secrets of her own. When she uncovers a final piece of the puzzle, something darker and more gut-wrenching than even she could’ve anticipated, Edith is forced to make a choice about the future of her marriage.
The truth always comes at a price. Sometimes, that price is your life.

Oh wow, that was quick, I finished it in almost one sitting. This is my third book by KM, and I'm guessing this is her style; fast-paced, popcorn domestic suspense with a twist or two.
Set in smalltown Dale, Georgia, Edith's husband Joe is about to get busted. He's a talented liar or cheater or both? Edith delves into his personal things to find answers. She trails him at night for clues to his whereabouts.
The author made me self-doubt the whole situation when at times I feel Edith's perspective is unreliable. I couldn't pinpoint why. I had fun listening to this audiobook, but I think the ending was a little OTT. Others do like the twist so I feel I'm a bit of an outlier on this.
Nice audio narration with a little accent by Devon Sorvari. The print edition is available on Kindle Unlimited. The audiobook will be out on May 10th, 2022.
2.5 stars, rounded up Kiersten Modglin's twisty thrillers are always entertaining. I can count on her books to deliver some great twists every time.
This book was entertaining in a soapy kind of way. I have said in a few recent reviews that I'm totally over gaslighting as a plot device, so thus the middle-of-the-road rating. The book is redeemed in the end with a clear, satisfying conclusion. However, in my opinion it takes way too long to get there and I missed out on the satisfaction of seeing things come together, we just get the play-by-play afterward. I get why the author chose to do that, it does have more impact overall with the element of surprise, but as a reader I would rather experience the story rather than have it told to me.
Edith (I had a very difficult time picturing her as a young woman, I know of zero young women with this name--why not Eden or Evie or something more contemporary?) is pretty dumb, or at least she comes across that way. How naïve can one person be, seriously? Especially in the end I rolled my eyes a bunch of times with things that she was clueless about
I listened to part of this as an audiobook and the narrator was good, kept me invested in the tale. It was the storyline itself that took so long to get going and move past the gaslighting to the good stuff.
Overall, if you're looking for a fast-paced suspense book and can suspend a bit of disbelief for entertainment, this one will be just the book you're looking for.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
Liar, Liar, pants on fire. That is what I thought when I saw the title of this book. You just know someone is lying in this book. If fact, that someone is Edith's husband, Joe. He has lied to her in the past. When she finds pictures of another woman on his phone, she knows he is up to no good and she does her best to find out who her husband is involved with.
The more she searches, the more she questions, the more she questions....
This proved to be a very fast listen. I enjoyed the audiobook and the narrator. There is a lot of drama going on in this book which held my interest. I found this to be entertaining and fun. Of course, there were some things that made me shake my head and roll my eyes.
But overall, I enjoyed this. Will I remember it in months to come? Probably not, but it makes for fun listening.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was about 50% in before I realized this was written by Modglin. I loathed The Reunion and, not surprisingly, I ended up feeling close to the same way with this one. Here there was a bit of a stronger storyline, however, the eye-rolling end kinda cemented the low rating. This was short, but still completely repetitive. Edith was so lacking in even the most basic of common sense that I had a very hard rooting for her, or buying into her plight.
The only highlights for me were Dan, the main characters best friend, and the fact that it was super quick. Dan was a great character. I wish he’d been able to play a bigger role.
I listened to this on audio and while it wasn’t terrible, Devon Sorvari’s speech inflections didn’t match up in some places.
I’m 0/2 with Modglin’s novels, so I think its pretty safe to say her novels and I just don’t mesh. 2.5 stars.
***ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Kiersten Modglin has a particular talent with writing twisty, suspenseful books that are impossible to put down until they’re finished and this one was no exception. It was a quick read that had me glued to the pages. I liked the characters in this one more than normal (except Joe). The writing is, as usual, great and the story was well paced. It wasn’t about red herrings as much as twists and turns in the narrative which totally worked. Edith found naked pictures of another woman in her husband’s phone but like he has so many times he denies it. She is determined to get to the bottom of it and in doing so she realizes she never really knew him at all.
This was another quick and easy read from Kiersten Modglin. The twists weren't that crazy in this book, they were quite realistic. I could see them happening in real life.
Kiersten did a decent job describing Edith's pain when she found out that Joe was lying to her again and again. Don't underestimate a woman when she realised that you are lying to her.
I can not believe I finished this book. Absolutely no depth to the story or characters. Worst book I’ve read. Still trying to wrap my brain around why anyone gave this such high ratings.
The other night I was in the mood for a super fast paced and twisty thriller and when I was browsing my shelves I remembered that this book had landed on my Kindle and I knew it would be exactly what I was in the mood for. I was right, I devoured this in just a few hours because I couldn’t put it down. It was full of the authors signature twists and turns, it took a well known trope of a cheating spouse but she put her own unique spin on it and if you’ve read a KMod book before you know that means things were unexpected. The ending was tense, satisfying and thrilling all at once, just overall a solid thriller read. The less you know the better here so just take my advice and add this one to your TBR for the day you’re in the mood for a binge read.
Wow!!!! This fast past novel was so much fun. What would you do if you caught your husband was cheating, and this is not the first time? Do you try to save your marriage when you discover your pregnant? The story gets so crazy! Do the jilted women work together when they find out about each other? Have you read a book by this author? I am looking for more now! Which one do you recommend next? 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thanks @netgalley and @kierstenmodglinauthor for this copy! #kierstenmodglin, #netgalley, #bookstagram, #booksconnectus, #stamperlady50, #audiobook
This was a roller coaster of a read! The beginning and middle was a constant build of speed until it get to the peak and it’s fast and furious through so many twists and loops! Towards the end you are blindsided with reveal after reveal. I have read multiple of KMods books and she always has surprising endings that you don’t see coming! You definitely need to add this to your TBR list!
Tell Me The Truth is a whirlwind of a domestic thriller. I listened to the audio edition, and while the narration was good, I sped it up so I could get to the exciting conclusion faster.
The plot was complex, detailed, and just a tad bit ….err, well, a little tough to believe. There is a mustache-twirlingly evil and diabolical husband. Why so evil? Who knows! It’s almost like bad guy hate-porn, for those of us who just love to hate bad guys. I really can’t tell you more or else it will be a big fat spoiler, and none of us wants that.
Not my favorite by the ever-so-talented Kiersten Modglin but still! Let’s be real here: she knocks most of her competition in the genre out of the water by a longshot. Even if she might have to jump a few sharks to get there sometimes!
I devoured this fast-paced, unpredictable, engaging read in one evening. This well-written story of deception hooked me from the beginning. The first twist, as they often are in Kiersten's novels, was a thrilling welcome into the world of Edith and Joe. I was as desperate to learn the truth of what was happening in this marriage as Edith was. Be prepared to stay up all night! Tell Me the Truth is the best psychological thriller I've read this year!
Thank you to Kiersten for the Arc copy of this book! This was a fun, fast paced book!
There’s always a choice…
I love when books are fast paced and still have the thrill in each chapter begging you to keep reading. This is why I enjoy this authors books so much! A secret love triangle takes a turn for the worst and you won’t expect the ending!
One book after another Katherine Modglin has earned her statues of being the Queen of Twists for very good reason! Just when you think you have read every domestic psychological thriller under the sun, she pulls a new one out. If you love small town gossip and twisty tales, you will be blown away by this new favorite of mine.
Plus, the narration by Devon!! The very first paragraph she spoke I paused the audiobook and relistened to it again and again, loving that southern drawl. I knew immediately she was the perfect narrator to play the characters in this book!
It’s not the first time Edith’s husband, Joe, has lied to her. But it will be the last.
I’m on a roll … this latest novel by KMod Is just brilliant! I devoured this in a day.
Fast paced and twisty! This one will keep you on the edge of your seat! It has the author’s signature twists and turns that will keep you guessing through out the novel. If you’re anything like me, I become an amateur sleuth!

Kiersten Modglin is an Amazon Top 30 bestselling author of psychological thrillers, a member of International Thriller Writers and the Alliance of Independent Authors, a KDP Select All-Star, and a ThrillerFix Best Psychological Thriller Award Recipient. Kiersten grew up in rural Western Kentucky with dreams of someday publishing a book or two. She is best known for her unpredictable psychological suspense.
“Or, so that’s how the story goes.”
Edith thinks her husband, Joe, is having an affair- again. And this time, she is determined to make him pay. So Edith figured out who the woman is and started to weave her web. Trust is a fickle thing, so fragile, so important, and so easily broken.
Whelp- for the first time, I figured out what was going to happen in a KMod book. But the free-fall to the ending has still left me speechless.
The Chicago of it all! I had a complicated relationship with the main characters for several reasons. Still, something I admire about Kiersten is that she is not afraid to write characters she knows her readers will hate.
The character development was divine, which is something KMod is known for. She can curate such vulnerability and craft such poignant emotions into her characters. As a reader, you feel their feelings. The rage, the sadness, the betrayal- it’s presented in such a powerful and realistic manner. Dan was hands down my absolute favorite, a perfect combination of Daniel Levy and Jonathan Van Ness. Chefs kiss, Kiersten!
This was such a beautifully twisted tale that will give you severe whiplash. The pieces all come tragically together in one of the most devastatingly delicious scenes I’ve read from KMod. The way things come together is like a free fall from 30,000 feet- the KMod wind will sting your eyes.
As I read the final chapters, I seriously had “He Had it Comin’” blasting in my head. I loved the goose egg surprise, such an epic nod to precious books.
This is such an unexpected and terrifying thrill ride from start to finish. In typical Kiersten fashion, we go from zero to sixty in four seconds- without brakes.
I have no idea how she keeps doing it, but she's got another winner with TELL ME THE TRUTH!
Edith is positive that her husband Joe is a liar. Once a cheater, always a cheater, right? But he always has a ready explanation for the photos on his phone ("My friend must have put them there as a joke!") and the dating app ("It was before we met and must have re-installed after an update!") I see you rolling your eyes at Edith's naïveté, but speaking from personal experience, unless you're in this situation, you have no idea what it feels like. This person makes you feel like you're crazy; you begin to question everything...did you imagine all of this? Long before gaslighting became a common term, liars have been a pro at using it to manipulate their victims to escape any blame or to accept any responsibility of wrongdoing.
Edith follows her instincts and gets a job at the restaurant where her husband's supposed lover works. As Edith insinuates herself into this woman's life, it soon becomes clear that Joe is absolutely not the man she thought she was...and he's holding on to secrets that will destroy someone in the end.
I *loved* the addition of the side character Dan, Edith's best friend. I thought he added so much to the story, and I really appreciated his unconditional love for Edith and how he dropped everything when she needed him. As usual, there are no filler scenes or excess dialogue from KMod. It's super intense, all action, from the very first page, and concludes with her trademark twisty, explosive ending. I can't wait for everyone to read this one! Publishes March 1.
Tell Me The Truth by @kierstenmodglinauthor ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Can someone explain to me why Kiersten Modglin books haven't been picked up for tv / movies ? #kmod has done it again . I finished this book rather quicky. As nervous as I was to accept the #arc with me recieving keys to my new place today.. I was worried I would be scrambling to read. But I couldn't turn down the chance to read it early . I absolutely could not put the book down . And I felt it just went so fast. My only complaint is that it ended lol .
Feeling like this story was close to home in a past relationship I escaped I found myself feeling the jealousy and worry Edith felt throughout the story . I could relate to her pain of feeling betrayed. The feeling of nothing being right.. yet loving someone so much you hope they love you the same.. and don't want to believe that they would keep hurting you if they did . Im sure alot of ladies could 100% relate to this one .. and alot of cheating men can get an idea of how crazy some women can get when you push them to a point of no return.
I loved it . You try your hardest to predict kmods twists. You KNOW they are coming . But try as you might, you will never accurately prepare for the twists that actually come to light.
I don't want to give anything away, but I can say that this was a fast-paced domestic suspense that I kept eagerly coming back to. I found the characters believable and the situation all too familiar: a wife who is certain her husband is cheating, while he has a sensible explanation for just about everything.
Is Edith crazy? She's definitely lacking in common sense and needs a boost of self esteem. Has she let Joe's previous transgression taint her view of him and his trustworthiness? Or is Joe really a perpetual cheater? Edith's creative searches for the truth will likely destroy her marriage, whether Joe is lying or isn't, and it's a wild ride to find out who is really hiding what.
Five stars because I found it so compelling and easy to read, but I get how some people might rate it lower because the gaslighting husband thriller is not original and has kind of been overdone in recent years.
Women have come such a long way,, except in a lot of these stories. The main character aggravated me so much. She's been married to a man for 3 years, he leaves the house every weekend to go and stay with his parents to help out because his mom is sick. She's never met his parents. Not once did she ever go with him to stay at the parents house. They have jobs, but are always broke, he pays half the bills and they have separate bank accounts that she's never seen. None of this was suspicious though. It was seeing a picture in his phone that made her believe he was cheating AGAIN! So she finds the mistress, gets a job where she works and they find out each of them were married to the same man and both are pregnant. They plot to kill him, because that was their only choice in the end.
This ending was so outlandish and ridiculous. Perfect Lifetime movie, terrible book.

This was a great book. Very satisfying from beginning to end. This was my 1st Kiersten Modglin book and I'm already reading another one (The Arrangement).
Modglin is an excellent storyteller. If you like domestic suspense/thrillers, then you've gotta check out Tell Me The Truth.
The MC is annoying throughout most of the book, she's unreliable and all over the place. However, how can she help it when her husband could've taught a class on lying & gaslighting?!?! He's got her in a downward spiral.
I love how everything tied together in this one. I highly recommend the audiobook OR the physical book, it's an easy enough story to follow and by the end you'll feel just as outraged as Edith.
Well, I received this ARC today and finished today. 🤣 This book was an absolute ride. The lies, the gaslighting, the secrets, wow. I really enjoyed watching this book unfold. My head was spinning until the very end. Such a great read! This comes out March 1st from the Queen of twists, herself. Highly recommend!
This was such a quick read and in true KMod fashion I did not see the ending coming. I really enjoyed this book and absolutely loved Dan! Everyone needs a best friend like him!! You should definitely read this book if you're a fan of Gaslighter by The Chicks, because it would be this book's theme song if there were one!
Huge thanks to Kiersten Modglin for an advance copy!
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a fantastic job! She had me hooked from the beginning. I listened to this one at 2.5 speed so it ended up being around 4.5 hours. With that in mind I enjoyed this one because I didn’t waste my time. If this book would have been 8hours or if I actually read the physical then I think I would be upset. I say that because the book already felt a little too long and repetitive. If you know me then you know I hate repetition! It really erks me. The ending was also very predictable which disappointed me because with this author I always expect some huge twist but sadly didn’t get it with this one or atleast I didn’t find it to be twisty.
One thing I really enjoyed was how real the cheating felt. A few months ago my friend got cheated on by her husband so I could really sympathize with what Edith was going through. No one knows what it’s like until it happens to them. As someone on the side it is always so easy to give advice but we will never understand how hard it truly is to leave someone you love until you're forced to make that decision. I couldn’t imagine living as paranoid as Edith was. The constant fear of never knowing who your husband was truly talking to, always having the need to check his phone, and questioning every decision he made. No one should have to live like that and if you want to find out what happens then read this book!
Overall, this book was good/okay and kept me interested the whole time. It’s the perfect book to listen to while working or doing chores.
Thank you so much @dreamscapemedia for the #gifted copy on #netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
