Sentence Synopsis: Deidre, mother of four and wife in a not-going-so-well marriage, wakes up and finds herself in a different version of her life, which leads her to discover some hard truths.
If you’re the type of person that enjoys reading books that lead you to ponder your own life and choices, then this book is for you! Alone is the debut novel of Mia Z Staysails, and let me tell you, I’m excited to see what else she can produce! I think a lot of times when we think about how different our lives could be, we tend to think of those alternate realities as better than our current situation. Mia does a great job showing us that, sometimes, that’s not always the case.
Deidre is a mostly stay at home mom and very-part-time employee whose marriage is not going very well. Her and Nick are fighting a lot and Deidre is feeling the effects of burnout. Because of this, Deidre starts to think to herself that she needs a break and even wishes for a different life entirely. Unbeknownst to her at the time, Deidre is going to get that wish granted. When she wakes up, she finds herself, well, herself, but in a different version of her life. Deidre is not married, she does not have kids and works as a stripper. Deidre now finds herself in a unique position as she reconciles with her past life and figures out her new life.
Reading Alone definitely made me reflect on my own life choices and also humbled me with my current situation. Of course we all dream of bigger and better for ourselves, but there’s also humility in acknowledging, and even accepting, our current situation. Throughout the story I found myself needing to keep reading to find out what happened and I absolutely love how it all tied together at the end. I found myself laughing, nodding my head in agreement, gasping and wanting to cry for these characters throughout.
If you are sensitive to substance use, the use of curse words throughout or nonconsensual assault, then I would recommend staying away from this book. This is a book intended for mature audiences with mature content. Definitely NSFW! But otherwise a great story that I would definitely recommend.

This book was a completely unexpected read for me. I honestly didn't read anything about the book prior to reading it, but was simply amazed at the story. A wife is at her wits end, and wishes her family away. When she wakes up, her life is no where what she would have wanted, but makes the best of a bad situation. It took me a while to decompress after this book, and it's the first book in a while to leave me with a hangover. Simply enjoyed this dark, twisted tale.

I was so excited to start this, and as expected, I couldn't put it down once I started. The beginning had me confused, it seemed a long ways away from anything matching the cover, but that only sucked me in further. I finished it in one setting, it was impossible to put down!! Can't wait to see more work from Mia!

Mia's best book yet! I love all the characters and it is so relatable! Super steamy and just enough action to make you never want to put it down! Can't wait to see what steaminess she comes up with next.

The author really out did herself with this book. I love the whole concept of seeing what your life and every one else's would be like if you choose a different path. It really puts a spin on the whole if only theory.

This is a great book for anyone who has had a wish for some stress to go away. But the twist is you wake up with a whole new life! This book had some twists that I wasn’t expecting as well as some hard truths about what goes on behind the scenes at some clubs. Would recommend highly to exert one who loves spice and drama!

This is absolutely a great book. As a mom myself I could completely relate to Dee. They always say be careful what you wish for because you might just get it. This book was so good I couldn't put it down. If you are looking for a book that gives into the what ifs this is the book for you.

I was sucked in, and it didn't release me until I was done. I had to read slower than normal because I didn't want it to end. It was very phenomenal. All I have to do to read a book is find the tropes. I was sold on this. It is a must read.

A fantastic ride you can’t put down! Amazing storyline with a twist I did not expect. It brought me to tears, had me laughing out loud and filled my heart with joy….all in the same chapter! It was fantastic! Can’t wait to read her next one!!!

As a mom this hit me right in the feels! We've all had those moments where we just want to throw in the towel and have a different life. This book is exactly that! They say you can't make a wife out of a ho*; but Is the reverse also true? This book was thrilling, tantalizing, heart-wrenching, and exilerating! But be prepared for the twists and turns!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I couldn't put it down! As a mom, I could relate to Dee on a very deep level. I cannot even begin to explain how emotionally attached I am to this book and I truly hope there is more to come of these characters and their stories because I fell in love with ALL of them!

You know how you watch a TV series and when it leaves on a cliffhanger causing you to wait until the next season? That's what is happening right now. Yet I don't know if it'll be a series or not. This book had me wrapped around it's finger from the first few chapters. I genuinely hope there's more to their story

Just WOW!!
This story so reminded me of the 1998 Gwyneth Paltrow movie Sliding Doors. Had me spellbound and I couldn't put my kindle down till I finished it. I highly recommend this book.

I wish I could rate this more than 5 ★!!! Holy moly was this book amazing! I finished it in a night and have such a hangover from it lol. Will there be a sequel? Oh please say there'll be another book for these characters somehow 🤞🏻💜

Well, wow! I went in blind with this story, and I was not expecting these twists! Being a mum, I can relate to dee sometimes 🙈 it's so refreshing to read a book that relates to reality! Dee definitely had a wild ride, and it was the perfect happy ending. Incredible writing will definitely be reading more of what this author brings out

This book is so good. Have you ever imagined what it would be like to have a different life, well this book shows you what it likes to have a different life. There is a moral to the story that makes you appreciate you your loved ones and what you have. I definitely recommend reading this book.

This book took me by surprise. Picked it as a quick read before starting a series and was amazed by how much I really enjoyed it. The ending threw me for a delightful, teary-eyed loop.
