Just Desserts: A Raunchy Side-Splitting Satirical Fantasy Adventure

Rate this book
Contains violence, sex, adult jokes, and a particularly scary marshmallow.

You might be imagining cutesy cupcakes and friendly flans... but in the land of All That’s Good (But Never Goes To Your Hips Or Butt), you’ll find nothing but crude confectionary, swearing sweets, and one brave muffin on a fight for true love.

Muffins and cupcakes can never mix. But when Jerome the blueberry muffin discovers that his secret beloved Princess Kupcake has been captured by an evil foe, he embarks on a dangerous quest to bring down the powerful King Devil’s Food Cake, win the heart of his princess, and go toe-to-toe with the most disgusting creature ever dreamed up by man or muffin.

From braving the horrors of the Red Vines Forest to tangling with unsavoury tart mercenaries, Jerome and his faithful gummy bear steed must make it to the Black Licorice Castle and thwart the Devil Food Cake’s dastardly plans. But can one lone muffin defeat the devilish king? Or will the price of victory be too much to pay?

Bursting with hilarious scenes and plenty of adult jokes, Just Dess is a bizarre, naughty, and side-splittingly silly adventure novel that perfectly blends age-old fantasy tropes with an assortment of curious confectionary to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

With foul-mouthed marshmallows, terrifying tarts, and an inspiring theme about true love and found family, this delightfully devilish read invites you to poke fun at the staples of sword & sorcery while enjoying a humorous tall tale that’s not for the faint of heart.

I write stories that pull you in fast and don’t let go—dark, gripping tales where danger lurks in the shadows and the past is never really buried. My books are filled with flawed, sharp-edged characters fighting their way through eerie landscapes, whether it’s a haunted town in the Deep South or a world unraveling under its own corruption. In addition to my books, I’ve had several short pieces published in various magazines such as Black Petals, The Harrow and Lullaby Hearse.

I live in Birmingham, Alabama with my wife and hyper Boston Terrier, Buster. When not writing about nightmarish things, I enjoy cooking, reading, brewing beer and trying to watch every horror movie made in the 80’s.

Utterly Delicious!!!
When I received an advanced copy of this before release, I thought it was going to be a rather silly, fun book to read. And that was cool because I was looking for pure escapism... What I didn't expect was brilliant word play, hilarious scenes, rich world building and a whole host of fully developed confectionary characters. I certainly didn't expect to fall in love with a blueberry muffin, a marshmallow peep and a slice of chocolate cake! But I did - I was invested in the plot, invested in the characters and rooting hard for the Jerome, all whilst wrapped in a world that absolutely shouldn't work outside of a children's book. I absolutely loved it.
Jerome had my heart right away - what a beautiful soul! And how refreshing to have a main male character who is a little scared, unexperienced and just doing the best they can. I loved everyone who joined Jerome on his adventure, especially Stephen the peep, who might just be the best side-kick ever created. I want a series JUST about him!
I also really liked the plot that developed around Kupcake's cakenap, and the backstory weaved around Devil's Food Cake... the baddies - oh how I loved them.

So, if you're looking for pure escapism, an out of world adventure, lots of laughter, found family and a bit of silliness to lighten your world - this is the book for you!

Very entertaining! A sweet love story with a twist.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s funny, clever, and held my interest all the way through. I recommend this book to anyone who likes something a little different. It has humor, adventure, and heart.

This book was great! It is light hearted (it’s all about various confections - gummy bears, peeps, cookies) and fun. A tale of love, adventure, and friendship - I would definitely recommend it!
