Ahhh, it feels good to be back on Dewberry Farm. I have missed this series!! Lucy is continuing to work on her farm & it is so fun to follow along. She has a guest renting the Ulrich house, and she had 2 mysteries to solve this time. The murder of Jorge and the mysterious bones found on the Peach orchard. So fun. Great series!

Oh, it is so good to be back on Dewberry Farm. I have indeed missed this series. Lucy is such a good character, her investigation skills natural to the reporter she was! It's nice to get to visit with all our old friends, human and animal, even Hot Lips. When Lucy's friend, Mary Katherine, of Two Sisters Peach Orchard, starts experiencing disturbing small disasters on her Orchard she is very concerned as she is trying to turn things around and can't afford the problems. When her farm manager dies in an accident that looks like maybe it had some help things really get serious. Who wanted Jorge dead? Who wants the Orchard to fail and why? Is history repeating itself on Two Sisters? You definitely want to go on this ride!

This book was great! So much fun to be back in Buttercup with Lucy, Chuck, Hot Lips and Tobias. The mystery was just convoluted enough to keep me guessing, and the ending was perfect!

Lucy Resnick is happy to help her friends at the Two Sisters Orchard (and her own farm) by setting up a booth for their festival. Everyone is having a good time and Lucy has sold most of her merchandise when a loud noise draws everyone to the barn. There on the floor was the body of the manager of the orchard. What happened to him was an accident or something else?

This is the eighth installment of the series. The characters are well developed, likable, and interesting. There are actually two mysteries, one in the present day and another one that is decades old. Both my storylines are interwoven nicely along with the daily life and activities of Lucy and her friends. There are plenty of twists and turns and suspects to keep you guessing who is behind the “accidents.” Recipes are included in this book. I recommend this book to cozy mystery fans, especially fans of farm and food cozies.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

This is the eighth installment in Karen MacInerney's Dewberry Farm mystery series. Springtime in the little town of Buttercup, Texas, and once again, a killer is loose. Buttercup is the home of novice farm girl Lucy Resnick who is struggling to maintain her grandmother's farm. Everyone in town is preparing for the upcoming farmers' market, and it all happens during peach harvesting season.

Hot Lips, Lucy's menace goat, is limping along the farm, and Lucy's peaches are looking less than...peachy. So Lucy visits Jorge, the peach orchard master who is employed at the nearby Two Sisters Orchard, owned by sisters Mary Katherine and Mary Elizabeth, to get some advice. While visiting the farm, Jorge shows Lucy a set of bones he came across, along with some other interesting items. That is mystery #1.

Back at the house, Mary Elizabeth is pressuring Mary Katherine to consider selling the place to a developer who would like to build "Austin-style apartments." Mary Katherine refuses, but Mary Elizabeth, the not-so-silent partner, doesn't see how they can be successful in the little town of Buttercup. As Lucy and Jorge arrive back at the house and catch the women arguing, Lucy notices some interesting exchanges between Mary Katherine and Jorge, leaving her to wonder if there is something more to their employer/employee relationship. It is especially concerning because Jorge is married, and his wife Stephanie started working for Lucy's boyfriend, the local veterinarian Tobias. Tobias is noticing some missing prescriptions at the vet's office and makes a mental note to talk with Stephanie to see if she can get the office organized.

At the farmer's market, it seems like something is off-kilter with everyone. The Mary sisters are arguing Tobias is missing, while Lucy and some of the other locals chat about their growing concerns about the new developer trying to turn Buttercup into a bustling city and not the cozy, rural community that they love. Then it happens...you know what it is...it's a mystery book...so suddenly someone turns up dead. Mystery #2. Who's dead, and who did it? A jealous wife, lover, sister, developer, or was it merely an accident? And what happens with Hot Lips? Whose bones are those? Grab a glass of peach tea and read to find out.

I thoroughly enjoy all of Karen MacInerney's cozy mystery series. I especially enjoy her Dewberry Farm Mysteries for the Texas references and setting. I am looking forward to the further adventures of Lucy in Buttercup, Texas.

I loved the newest Dewberry Farm Mystery from Karen MacInerney; it has everything I look for in a cozy - lots of suspects, small town setting, yummy recipes, and a dead guy who (not so apparently at first, but definitely pretty obvious by the end of the book) deserved it. A real page-turner, I read Peach Clobber in one sitting! A+++

This is just a great cozy mystery series. Set on a small farm in a small town in Texas, with goats, a cow, a rescue dog, and two kittens she found in the chimney, and a veterinary boyfriend, Lucy is making ends meet by selling her homemade merchandise at the street fairs and Jamborees.

When Lucy and the farm manager next door find a skull buried in the peach orchard, the bumbling sheriff, Rooster, doesn't seem willing to do much investigating, then when a death occurs at the community jamboree where Lucy has a booth Rooster classifies it as an accident without even investigating. Lucy, on the other hand, sees too many coincidences to believe it was accidental.

As Lucy investigates she finds too many discrepancies to agree with Rooster, can she convince him before someone else dies.

I recommend this book, the series, and actually any book by this author. She will keep you entertained for many hours as she weaves her clever mysteries and tempts you with her delicious sounding recipes.

Former Houston journalist, Lucy Resnick, now has a small farm in Buttercup, Texas. She grows fruits, vegetables & flowers, and makes cheese, soaps & candles, all of which she sells at various farmers' markets in the area. While tending her vendor's booth at a nearby peach orchard, Lucy is pulled into a murder investigation when an incident occurs involving an employee at the struggling orchard. As Lucy investigates, she discovers there were quite a few people upset with the victim for various reasons. There are also ongoing disagreements between the two sisters that share ownership of the orchard. Skeletal remains have recently been discovered on-site, as well, bringing additional stress to the already tense situation.

I really enjoyed this mystery and getting to know Lucy and the cast of characters that make up the quaint little town of Buttercup, Texas. I am curious about Lucy's age, though, as Lucy states in the book that she took an early retirement from the Houston Chronicle to purchase Dewberry Farm, which made me think she was possibly in her mid to late fifties. However, later in the book, she contemplates eventually settling down and starting a family with her boyfriend, Tobias, the town's veterinarian, which makes me think she may only be in her mid to late thirties. 🤔 Regardless of her age, I thought this book was very well written and I look forward to reading more books in this series. 🙂

This is the first of the long list of books published by this author that I have read. I liked the country setting, the plotting, and the varied personalities of the residents in the tiny town of Buttercup. It's peach season and the Two Sisters Farm is preparing for their annual Peach Jubilee. I especially liked the personality of the protagonist, Lucy, proprietor of Dewberry Farm. Lucy struggles financially as she works hard at her goal to help her farm provide quality crops and her homemade products, such as mozzarella cheese and butter from her goat milk, to her customers. I lived on and owned and operated a small dairy farm in the Catskill Mountains and related to all the rural experiences.

Yet something is wrong in Buttercup as one accident after another soon shows us. Two adversarial forces are silently colliding and Lucy, who is a retired journalist, feels it in the wind. Her smart investigation is enhanced by her long earlier career skills. She's a true country person now, though, who begins to unfold the underlying drama which is not uncommon in rural areas. It's a fine read and I'll be reading some more of this series. Oh, and I'll be making the Peach Cobbler and trying out other delicious sounding recipes mentioned throughout the stories that you'll find at the end of the book.

Peach Clobber is the latest update on the happenings in Buttercup,Texas. I look forward to each new book in this series because Buttercup is definitely a happening little community, and what is usually happening is murder!

It’s Peach Jamboree time at Two Sisters Orchard and Lucy Resnick is looking forward to raking in some big profits from her candles and pretty bouquets. However, just when the festival sales are putting a smile on her face, Lucy once again finds herself in the company of a cold, lifeless body. What kind of trouble will find Lucy as she jumps into the middle of a murder investigation, or rather a lack of an investigation, by the less than competent Sherrif Rooster Kocurek? What about frequent “accidents” that have been plaguing the orchard, and the bones and old buttons that have been uncovered on Two Sisters property?

Hurry, get your copy now; then fix yourself a glass of Peach Iced Tea from the bonus recipes included and settle in for a good time. Your friends in Buttercup are waiting to share with you!

Lucy Resnick is making a go of her little farm, battling mildew on vegetables, trying to help a sick goat, and getting advice on her peaches from the orchard manager at the nearby Two Sisters Orchard.
During a peach festival at the orchard, the manager is killed when the forklift he’s using tips over. Lucy needs to figure out whether Jorge was the target, or one of the orchard owners, who has already been dealing with vandalism that appears to be an attempt to get her to sell the farm to a developer.
It’s always a joy to return to Buttercup, Texas, and Lucy’s Dewberry Farm. She’s made some good friends in the community, and, as an ex-reporter, she’s good at connecting the dots.
This series celebrates a hard but rewarding way of life, with neighbors looking out for each other and being tuned into the weather and each other in order to make a go of it. There is a special kind of joy in helping each other!
I hope the wait to return to Buttercup won’t be quite as long next time.

A lonely hearts mystery that seeks justice!

A very painless ending for the faint of heart reader. No horrible or demented psychos in this Texas town where the local sheriff is slow witted and just plain lazy! Handsome Jorge who is a real ladies man falls victim to foul play! Who could possibly want to kill this charming lady killer? Was it really murder or an accident gone awry? Two sisters own an orchard that Jorge is helping to save from lagging profits. A long suffering wife who claims she loves him? A former employer whose teenage daughter has been impregnated by Jorge. It seems that women fall in love too easily with him. What a much loved cad!!

The fact that the surprise ending is not who did it, but rather the means by which it is solved. Fascinating!

Recommend reading it if for no other reason than to learn that not all mysteries need be bloody and gory or even suspenseful. Absolutely no edge of your seat tale!

Lucy is setting up her booth at the Two Sisters Orchard festival when she and orchard manager, Jorge, discover a long buried body. Since the body has been buried for decades, Lucy sees no reason that the festival should be affected, that is until a murder in the middle of the festivities. Is history repeating itself, does someone have a grudge against the sisters or has the new push for development in the area led to dire consequences? Now while dealing with her own farm and sick livestock, Lucy tries to uncover the killer before anyone else falls victim.
In addition to a great, twisty mystery, Peach Clobber is funny, endearing and a page turner. The reader is drawn into small town Texas life in the best possible way. The characters are reminiscent of people you have as friends or really want to have as friends.
I anxiously await the next Dewberry Farm Mystery.

Depending on how you look at things, Lucy either has the worst luck imaginable (she stumbles over dead bodies with alarming regularity) or the best (her investigative skills and curiosity help keep innocent people from taking the fall for crimes they didn't commit). The fact she's right in the middle of things helps a lot of people, but MAN it must be rough on the nerves.

This time around, she happens to be on the scene when a forklift accident results in tragedy. While the sheriff is happy to label it an accident, Lucy isn't so sure. As she starts digging into the life of both the victim and the suspects, she uncovers things that leave more than a few people in a bad light.

Accidents, an old mystery, a lot of peaches, and Lucy doing her thing. As she does. *thumbs up*

This was a great addition to this series. With two different story lines going on there is a lot of action and mystery. First old bones are found and second a man is crushed to death in what looks like an accident but Lucy is sure it wasn't.

I love Lucy as a main character and love her relationship with Tobias but for goodness sake move a little faster will you. A ring would be nice. I love the side characters and the story line was very well written and moved fast. I couldn't put the book down.

The only thing really that seems a little unrealistic is that we had almost no interaction with the cops in this though the fact we didn't see much of Rooster is a blessing.

A really good read.

Peach Clobber is the 8th book in Karen MacInerney's Dewberry Farm mystery series. It is well-written cozy with two mysteries interwoven through the book, adding extra layers of intrigue. The characters are likeable, the small town of Buttercup is cozy and quaint, and the farm setting is relaxing. I always look forward to her books and this one was delightful in so many ways, not to mention that the recipes are an extra bonus for me! This book is a fun, easy read that hits all the marks of a true cozy mystery!

Karen MacInerney's latest Dewberry Farms book is peachy keen. Terrible pun? Definitely. But the book is terrific! This book has a wonderful storyline, great characters, and an interesting double mystery that reaches back nearly 100 years on a neighboring peach farm and proves that while much may change over time, many things remain the same. As always, MacInerney delivers a great story and tops it off by sharing several mouthwatering recipes. I can't wait to find out what the future holds for Lucy, Tobias, and all those in Buttercup, Texas.

A must read for fans of the series and the author. Lucy leads the way in solving two murders on the same farm, but almost a century apart. Lucy is also instrumental in getting two sisters working together instead of at odds. She has her first guest stay at the Ulrich House. The guest happens to be a reporter researching the area who entices Lucy to help her. Does this mean Lucy will return part time to her reporter roots. Hot Lips, the goat, is the featured animal. Will she be well again?

Late summer brings peaches and Lucy is harvesting thanks to the help of Two Sisters Orchard’s farm manager Jorge. The orchard is hosting a market and Lucy will be selling her wares. The last thing she expects to experience is a murder.
This is the eighth book in the Dewberry Farm mystery series. I have enjoyed every book in this series and this was no exception. I love the characters who are realistic and well-developed. I also love the setting. The plot in this book was interesting and kept me engaged. I recommend this book and series.

This series gets better and better! I have read almost everything Karen MacInerney has written and this series just might be my favorite -- perhaps because I am a Texan and appreciate all the "Hill Country" and Texas details. The characters grow more nuanced with each book and the mysteries are always intriguing and keep me guessing. I am ready for Tobias and Lucy to move forward a bit more, and, as a Standard Poodle owner, I wish Chuck had a bit more inclusion. Other than that -- perfect!

It has been a joy to dive into the new Dewberry Farm story, meeting new characters and spending time with "old friends".
MacInernney is an excellent storyteller, with an amazing talent that conjures warmth and vivid images with every word.
The book transports you to a much more slow and relaxed place, that most cozy readers long for, gifting a much needed pause from reality.
Highly recommended!

Murder never sounded so tasty...

I confess, I am a "Newberry Devotee". Every time a new Newberry book comes out I have no drop what I'm doing and read it. This book did not disappoint. The author has such a great grasp of how to write characters.. I hope there will be many more books down the road.

Loved this story

When it all boils down to it, family is the main thing keeping us together. This was a story about family and the troubles families sometimes has to work out. This story came out for the best, but it could have gone south far too quickly. I definitely recommend this book.

Another really good murder mystery in this cosy series. It's peach season in Buttercup, Texas. Mary Elizabeth and Mary Katherine hold a Jamboree on their farm. A .murder occurs and Lucy and friends try to solve who did it. The reason they try is because Rooster, the sheriff always tries the easy way out. It is such a good series of books.
