It’s getting so interesting but Amamiya is so sus. I don’t trust him and he’s annoying me.

So the volume starts off with Sho and the other guy in the back behind the gym and they noticed Akira spying on them so they bring him out and it gets revealed that the guy is actually an alien and he’s not actually getting in trouble, but he is an alien that has been bedridden because he struggles to adapt to the climate of Japan and he asked them if he can get help to ask one of the girls out and Sho ends up, giving him a demonstration by asking a girl in front of everybody and she rejects him but then she goes up to them after and she’s like I can’t believe you did that in front of everybody don’t do it again and they end up telling them that the girls also an alien from a different planet so he knew she would reject him anyway, but at the end she’s like I can’t believe you did that in front of everybody. I don’t really care for this and I don’t really like it and I don’t really like some of the illustrations. I could go without this happening and it’s not really my thing.

Then we go to Sho and Christina and Christina fixed his weapons and they watch Akira on the screen cause he’s training to learn more about his weapon that he chose which was his father‘s. Christina starts telling him that Akira wants to get better working with him and he wants to put in his part of their partnership, and Christina tells him that it was Akira‘s father that protected him and his sister when he died, and that was what Sho was told too, but he seen the video footage of Akira‘s dad in action and he does not believe that it was him. He believes that the person who saved them was Akira and he doesn’t believe that it was Akira‘s father and so he didn’t die for them so he wants to know what happened to Akira‘s father. The thing is Sho wants to protect Akira but the thing is Akira doesn’t want protected he wants to protect Sho and Sho goes down and spars.

So he practice fights with Akira and Akira fight and Sho ends up having monologue about how he’s struggling and they’re both struggling actually but Sho is struggling because he wants to protect Akira because he knows that somehow he protected him and his sister and he doesn’t want him to get hurt, but Akira desires to gain the strength and skills to protect people and that also means protect Sho and Sho looks sad and then they stop fighting. They really mirror each other and they don’t know it. It is really a the situation where they both wanna protect each other and that is causing this confliction and this disruption because there are things not being said surrounding why. This is definitely going to cause future problems within their relationship and within what I’m expecting to be a point in the plot.

After, they go out to eat and they talk about Amamiya because Sho tells Akira that he is the one who trained him and that since he is a high ranking member, he isn’t always able to be accessible to talk to him and Sho says that he’s very mysterious, even though he’s very smart and cunning and clever, it’s hard to figure out what he’s doing and what he is desiring to do. Akira think about how it’s nice hanging out with Sho and what is their relationship friendship unexpected bond. He end up telling him that I wish you would just talk to me at school and you always ignore me and Sho tells him that I thought you wouldn’t wanna be around me because I’m not fully human and I don’t wanna be a bother. (I don’t wanna hurt you really is what it sounds like.) The next morning at school Akira gets a text from him saying Good morning and Sho he seems extra happy about it as well.

So Akira ends up continuing to text Sho and he wants to ask him to go hang out after school but then Sho end up contacting him and says I have to go on a mission tomorrow. You don’t have to go, just go to school so Akira goes to school at the end of the school day. There are people fawning over this man outside and it’s Amamiya standing there and puts Akira secure in the car and Hyogo is driving the car and he’s like let’s go and Akira was like where are you taking me and Amamiya is like we’re gonna go out on a date so he takes him out and they go get crêpes and he sits down and he ends up talking to Akira about Hakugin and he asked some questions about how did he feel and because the alien that he fought in the virtual reality when he got accepted into the AMO was a virtual version of Hakugin again and he just basically is trying to gain more information and Amamiya tells him that they’re meeting someone to learn more possibly about the alien and then Akira gets emotional thinking about his father and Amamiya tells him that he was there with his father died but he was supposedly unconscious when it happened so he couldn’t save him and Akira asking him about his thoughts about his Father and there is a panel where Akira‘s father is screaming and he’s on the field of somewhere and he’s yelling at Amamiya? and Amamiya tells Akira that he loved him.

So the informants come there is two of them (Yuen and Meimei) and they end up seeming suspicious of Akira and the girl ends up fighting Akira and then they end up talking to Amamiya after they seem cool with Akira and Amamiya ask about Hakugin and they look at him suspiciously being like we don’t know anything about that alien I can’t believe you’re actually looking into the now and then he also asked for Intel about the cute girl, but they give him none but what they do give him is that tonight there are aliens being sold on the black market and they give him the location and they say goodbye and Akira ponders and thinks about the fact that he ended up finding out that one of them is an alien, and one of them is an earthling, and he sees how despite the fact that they are from different places and they have different lives they have a bond and then he thinks about Sho and their relationship, but then Amamiya takes him out out of his thoughts because he grabs his face and he’s like I don’t like being ignored and you’re gonna do something for me. OK you’re gonna come with me on this mission alone and you can do that can’t you?

Well, he ends up telling him that the mission first of all, he’s making this under the wraps again because he should NOT have a minor out on a mission like this, but he tells him the goal is to get the people who are doing this smuggling and also finding the aliens. Well they see a truck and there are people in it and they’re driving it and we learned that they know there is this motto that if you see, Amamiya from the AMO to abandon anything you were doing and so there’s this truck and Amamiya points out to Akira and he’s like go investigate so Akira goes, and he finds one of the alien creatures there and it immediately starts attacking him because of those people that were originally the trunk they ran away but they gave it stimulant and it starts attacking Akira and he realizes that there’s poison and he is struggling to fight and he starts thinking about his Aunt and Uncle because he lied going out and then obviously Sho isn’t there and he looks at Amamiya and he’s staring at him and he goes up to him when he’s almost passed out and he goes up in this goes back to what I seen earlier in the volume where he looks at Akira and he’s like come out and play or you’re gonna die and im pretty sure talking about what he thinks is the parasite alien inside Akira.

Amamiya, I knew he was unnerving from the start and he keeps progressing it because he is doing things under the radar. He’s pushing Akira and I already knew that he was gonna do that. He’s just very manipulative and his charisma and his power within the organization gives him such a leverage as of course it would and he’s just creepy in a way you know and I had a feeling he was gonna do this, but I definitely just wanna know more and I wanna know more about his relationship with Akira‘s father because I just have vibes I’m feeling and I don’t know if I’m right, but I said before I don’t think it was 10 out of 10 even though he said he loved him I do not trust this man. Also, I’m thinking about this scene because he is putting such a risk on Akira and I noticed back in earlier volumes that Sho particularly gets protective over Akira regarding Amamiya I think it’s because he knows what he is capable of and he doesn’t want Akira to go through that (or what he did) and if Sho finds out I feel like hes gonna be pissed off.

I am enjoying getting to learn more about the character dynamics that we are seeing because this is what I like. I’m not really that lillustrations in this volume around like of fan service…I suppose and I am not really fan of the whole like comedy. I like when we get serious and I think we did get a little serious here and it’s getting more weird and unnerving. I don’t really love when we play into like the more comedic, lighter humor and of tropes and situations tend to exist within certain genres, but my curiosity has me continuing and I just wanna learn the depths of the world of aliens and the characters that we have and the AMO.

But now I’m just sitting here thinking about all the connections because Amamiya was talking to people volumes ago or the boxes or whatever they are about Akira and how he’s investigating him essentially and how if it goes wrong, Sho would have to kill him and there’s just a lot of like management power that we are just unaware of right now about the system and I just think it goes a lot deeper than we know and wanna know who’s really controlling what and what is happening.

And let me just be all fun and games non serious….Hakugin isn’t the alien supposedly inside Akira, RIGHT??? Like..we’re not doing that…RIGHT???? Because hypothetically.. if Akira doesn’t remember certain things…listen all I’m saying is if this ended up being true and it’s a situation where Akira doesn’t remember things because Hakugin takes control of him and changes his body or something I wouldn’t be shocked…BUT that’s NOT what is happening….RIGHT…???? (I’m thinking and making connections to possible red herrings 😭 but it’s all fun I just wanna knowwww what’s happening)

Sho i Akira nadal rządzą moim zainteresowaniem.

A Amamiya… oh boy.
Tylko chyba w którymś momencie życie oduczyło go sentymentów, pozostawiając mu bezwzględność w dążeniu do celów…

Finally continuing this series again (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶) .ᐟ.ᐟ

I've always thought the cover for this volume is gorgeous, and only now got to know the boy/man/alien dude on it, though Yuen showed up only for a few pages. I think his dynamic with Meimei seemed really interesting (I hope they give backstories someday!).

I also missed Akira and Sho ₊˚⊹♡ Their burger date was cute! Also their text messages and Sho saying he'd be lonely going on missions without Akira (つ╥﹏╥)つ Too precious. Akira was still as clumsy as ever but he's honestly just too innocent for the violent life of taking down bad aliens. At least for now. I've suspected he has more role than just being the son of one of the legendary top officers, so when Sho seemed certain that it was not Akira's father who had saved him when he was a child... I'm putting my bet on it being Akira himself. I have no idea how that would even work since the story had nothing about time travel (so far) but Amamiya was being extremely sus about it too so, yes, I think my theory has some sense on it. Not that I trust Amamiya anyways. I don't think I will ever trust Amamiya with anything; man is just too shady (ᵕ • ᴗ •)

The moments between Akira and Sho in this volume to get to know and be around each other was very cute! We can see that the author puts a lot of care in deepening their friendship along the story.

I’m very curious about Yuen and Meimei. They seem to have a strong relationship whether it’s platonic or romantic is quite hard to determine this early in the story. I wonder what kind of event bond them together. I also love Yuen design, it’s pretty simple but I think it suits perfectly the mystery around the character.

Lastly I think that Reiji is an entire enigma by himself. We can easily guess that he planned this situation for Akira to release whatever lives inside his body that destroy the training room in the first volume. And Reiji seems to have a strong connection with it. Wether it’s Hakugin or not it may certainly lead to some clue to what exactly happened nine years ago and what kind of relationship Reiji had with Akira’s father. Is his behavior since a beginning all an act to get to an ulterior motive? What kind of secrets he hides?

I can’t wait for the next volumes!

[2.5] It’s getting harder and harder for me to buy into Sho’s whole idea that Akira messed with time… Also, Amamiya, that man is straight-up unsettling. I get that he thinks he’s shaping these kids for some bigger purpose but the way he treated Sho when he was young was already crossing a line and seeing him put Akira through that same brand of “training” now is just wild. No normal person looks at a child and thinks, “Yeah, pushing them past their limits and messing with their head is definitely the right move.”

but tenkubashi and akira and sooo cuteness.
”dont get too lonely without me.”
”WHAT?!? I-I wont be lonely at all!”
”I’ll be lonely.”
^ hehe i love them :3 tenkubashi is my baby and deserves all the love and friendship akira is gonna shower him in !!

This is really fun, and has some nice mysteries happening -- it's becoming more clear to me why so many people are interested in our protagonist, and it makes total sense that he wouldn't really understand why (since the reader knows a lot more than he does), and the creepy guy is nicely and effectively creepy!

I've been enjoying reading this sci-fi/action manga series: it has brilliant illustrations and characters, intriguing world building and a complex storyline that keeps me intrigued. Definitely a fun series that I can recommend (be warned about some cliff-hanger endings, though!)

Still really enjoyable, but I feel like the characterization for everyone except Amamiya is a little weak/inconsistent. We’re seeing into more pieces of the worldbuilding now that seem super interesting, so I hope that continues.
