This was the best book that I’ve ever read and I’m never going to read it again

The finale fight between our favorite pair was just magnificent and if it was to be animated it will be unbelievable. I have noticed that I look for misery with a tweezer. I just wasn’t expecting anything from the last volume —other than just pain of course— so like what I received was just..

Please just go read Beast and urge others to go and pick Beast because the author might have just went on and beyond our reason and expectations.. I just want to re- read this already.

(1) For some boys, the ritual of becoming a grown-up is always the killing of their 'fathers'/father figures.

(2) Kenji and Kunikida are the coolest guys ever. 😀

(3) It's a pity that Akutagawa didn't get to punch the Man in Black after all the stuff he had been put through. 🙄

As for the Akutagawa and Gin’s reunion scene, I admit what Gin (and Dazai) said about Akutagawa being reckless and selfish is true, but is it a bit too harsh for Gin to condemn her brother as ‘evil’ because of it!?

That feels a bit unfair.

(5) Anyway, I am glad Akutagawa found support and friendship from the Agency, and Atsushi found a new father in Mori, this time he is arguably a good guy.

(6) I like Atsushi and the Headmaster's backstory this time! 😀

typing this review as my eyes are still swollen from sobbing. this is the equivalent of someone reaching out to grab hold of my heart, squeeze it multiple times, and then rip it out of my chest. this was even more painful than any torture device anyone could come up with.

1st read
i went through all 5 stages of grief plus crying, and repeat, and repeat, and repeat. asagiri you sick bastard. you will be fucking dealt with.

I just had to write a quick review because even though I read this side story last year, the ending still made me tear up. It's just so beautiful and brilliantly thought out. The concept of creating a story where all the characters are named after classic authors and then making those characters grapple with their own humanity in a dark, supernatural world- then comparing them to "stray dogs" to show that all they really want is to belong, to live- it's incredible. I'm just so grateful this story exists.
