New threats, new foes...and a new partner?! This hilarious, action-packed spy series—from the creator of Bird & Squirrel—is perfect for readers who love funny crime-fighting stories like The InvestiGators, The Bad Guys, and Dog Man!
Agent 9 is back in action at the Super-Secret Spy Service, and it couldn’t come at a better time. The next assignment? Stopping the Wolf, a cunning canine who’s been hired by the sinister organization DiViSiON to hunt down the final pieces of a mind-control device. It’s a mission of such paramount importance that Nine must do the unthinkable—work with a partner!
S4 teams up Agent 9 with Traps, a mouse who specializes in covert operations (and knitting too). Unfortunately, the partnership gets off to a rocky start. And despite their best efforts, the Wolf always seems to be one step ahead. With time running out and DiViSiON’s plans to take over the world nearly complete, can Nine overcome the toughest challenge being part of a team?
I've worked as an artist in the animation industry for companies like Disney, Warner Brothers, and Nickelodeon. Projects I've worked on include the Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Space Jam, the Iron Giant and the television shows, Wow Wow Wubbzy, Ni-hao Kai-lan, the Dinosaur Train and most recently on Cartoon Network's PowerPuff Girls.
I also write and illustrate my own books including the Graphix graphic novel series Bird and Squirrel, and Agent 9.
Another brilliant graphic novel, perfect for KS1/LKS2. Agent 9 needs to learn to accept help to try and foil a plan for the evil wolf and his mind-controlling plan! Gorgeous illustrations, lots of great humour and this will definitely be popular with kids!
More fun in the sequel to this new series from the author of Bird and Squirrel. Will Agent 9 succeed in his next mission and become Spy of the Month? Will his new partner spoil it for him or will he learn to work as part of a team?
This was super cute. It had a great message about learning to work with others and knowing when to ask for help. No need to be the lone wolf (pun intended). Agent 9 is fun and the new character, Traps, is as well. Can't wait for more of this series!
Agent 9 has a new missing, to stop Wolf from getting his hands on 2 items necessary for creating a mind control device created by IQ. But O is assigning Agent 9 a partner. Agent 9 thinks he and FiN are plenty, but now he has to work with Traps. Can Agent 9 learn how to be a team player? Or is this mission doomed to failure?
Another fun graphic novel spy mission with Agent 9. It was great to see how Agent 9 grows through this story. Traps is a great partner, resourceful and irrepressibly positive and kind. The mission doesn't look very good for a while, but I loved the conclusion. Burks does a great job of illustrating in ways that convey a lot of action and emotion so effectively. This is sure to find several ready fans who will gobble this up quickly.
Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. There are some perilous situations but no one is seriously hurt.
A solid recommendation for Dog Man and InvestiGators readers, Agent 9 is a little like Mission Impossible Junior but with a feline hothead in the Ethan Hunt role. Mind Control has our hero angling for some accolades from headquarters (S4) and getting saddled with a partner instead. It's pretty much the expected grump versus chipper newbie dynamic but still has charm.
It's not quite as goofy or relentlessly punny as InvestiGators and doesn't have the potty humor of Dog Man (though I do love Dog Man) so it might scratch that itch for readers who are looking for something adjacent but not so over the top.
Agent 9 returns with hopes of becoming Spy of the Month after his next mission is complete, but O has teamed him up with another agent to stop a rogue agent from getting his hands on the final two items of a mind control device. Agent 9 must learn to use teamwork to make this mission a success. Fast-paced fun and humor.
This book once again proves Agent 9’s staying power. It’s amusing if a little rushed, a sequel that delivers what was good about the first installment and adds a new journey with nice lessons for kids about asking for help and teamwork while also having as much fun with its premise as possible it possibly can. The illustrations are charming and full of life, and the characters are cute and too irresistible to hate. Agent 9’s future seems bright, and I’m looking forward to what is next for our agent pals in hopefully another installment.
I liked this one even more than the first. Good life/friendship lessons, the bad guy is bad but not insurmountable, and the ending shows juuust enough of a hint to get you excited about the next book.
I love the character designs (they all pass the silhouette test), the artwork, and the humor. We even get a new charming but cheesy mouse character, Traps. I want to read more.
