Asher Whitehill made a new life for himself, hiding from his family's dark secrets, but his past still haunts him, and the possibilities of the future terrify him beyond measure. Desperate to atone for his father's sins, Asher keeps everyone in his life at arm's length, including Christian Cross, the police officer he loves.
Now the murders have started again, and this time Asher may be left with no choice other than to surrender everything—even himself—to keep Christian safe from the demented plans of a madman.
Carrie Davis crafts contemporary gay male romance with plenty of angst, but her men always get their happily ever after.
She lives in Florida, where it’s needlessly hot and the mosquitoes are the size of hummingbirds.
She requires caffeine to be a reasonably functional adult. Yes, reasonably functional is as good as it gets.
Carrie might have a small addiction to buying books, so if she's not writing, she's reading, and when she's not reading, she is happily spoiling her nephews, Zachary and Isaiah, and her dog, Remington.
When your family is made of criminals and you find difficult to redeem yourself, plus you have feelings for a cop, the situation is undoubtedly complicated. I really enjoyed this book and the romance.

this was more emotional and romance than crime to solve. but it was really enjoyable! it made me feel all kinds of things — worried, anxious. a nail biter and i couldn't put it down.
Asher was really relatable in his thoughts and actions. i really like him as a character. it was nice to read about the conflict and guilt he held.
i absolutely love the petnames Christian used for Asher, it was.... so....sweeeeet aaaa. he was so sweet!
i also love the special pov even though it was
i wish it was longer and more search and find in the crime part. and i also wanted more moments with Asher and Christian or maybe experience abit of how they fall for each other, (bc we were dropped in the middle). and maybe also abit of Christian's pov heheh.
Wow I got so emotional reading this book Firstly let me say I am a huge fan of Carrie Davis and her style of writing in this book broke my heart in a lot of ways. It is an outstanding read. So in this book we get to know Asher. Who is the son of a serial killer. When he found out what his father did he became Charles he was no longer his father. His mother and brother Austin both supported Charles so when he got to 18 he just walked away. And through hard work determination and pure grit he made a life for himself as an author and illustrator of his own books. Using a pen name as he wanted no association with Charles. When he finds out the child has killed him self in prison he feels nothing. He has a phone call from his brother hoping he will come back for the funeral but Asher has no plans to do that. Note that Day his manager and good friend Drew Was murdered and it’s soon became apparent that it was his brother taking over Charles mission. Christian is an NYPD officer and very much in love with Asher But Asher could never admit to his feelings for Christian. Christian knew deep down that he couldn’t except just being someone he came to when he needed a passion. He now understands Why he keeps himself so distant Christian is there straight away to explain it changes nothing, his feelings are still strong and he wants Asher in his life. But then Things start to go horribly wrong! Austin is making his mark. Wow what a brilliant made my heart went out for Asher, Who was taking on the blame Brother and Charles’s actions and it was cutting him deep thank goodness he has Christine by your side. This book is full of drama, action and full of passion. If you’re anything like me your emotions will be all over the place. Just one more book in this amazing series!

Asher has a troubled life not helped by his damaged family. A family damaged by Charles, his father, a psychopath on a murderous mission to rid the world of women it seems. When Charles commits suicide while on death row his son Austin takes on his bloody mantle.
Christian is Asher’s ex-boyfriend and is still in love with Asher. Asher could not commit to a relationship due to his family. He has kept them a secret and managed to make a life for himself. When his brother reveals the secret to destroy Asher’s career his life feels like it is over. When his brother starts to target Asher’s few friends it only gets worse.
This is a tale of many dark moments and a few light ones. It is a very emotional read and plumbs the depths of how perceived responsibilities can drag you down. Asher feels responsible for every act carried out by his family and makes the decision to be the one to end it all. Christian, who has come back into his life to protect him, does not agree. How they both weather the storm is one of the heart warming things to be found here.
There are some nasty moments but this is an excellent read.

This is the final book in the To Love & Protect Series. It is well written and easy to read. It is the story of Asher Whitehill and Christian Cross. Asher is the son of a serial killer and has tried to distance himself from his family. He has a new name and is trying to eek out a life without shame. Christian is a police officer. He is also madly in love with Asher. While Asher is crazy about Christian, he ends their relationship. He is trying to protect Christian from the shame and stain of his father. Once his father dies in prision, the murders start up again. This time the apple doesn't fall from the tree. And this time it destroys the life that Asher has created. It also wants to destroy Asher. Christian and his fellow police officers are involved in trying to protect Asher and finding the killer. This is their story. This book is well written and easy to read. I do have to say that I didn't enjoy it as much as the earlier books. I had a hard time finding empathy for Asher when he puts himself in harms way knowing that he can't succeed. It annoyed me rather than impressing me. In spite of that, this is a good book and final end to the series.

Asher Whitehill comes from a dangerous, deranged family. He has tried to start over, pulling away from their dark secrets. Now his brother, Austin, is taking over the insanity their serial killer father began as he has begun murdering innocents.
Asher had already isolated himself, pushing Christian Cross, the police officer he loves, away from him to keep him safe. It seems that Austin will most likely go after Christian and Asher will do everything to prevent that. But Christian and Asher are once again drawn into a situation that is the most dangerous kind of all, because it’s personal and the rage burns hotter. And Austin knows how to inflict the most pain and damage on his brother.
So when Christian is shot, Asher goes after the killer. Will Asher get justice? Will Christian recover? And will Asher survive, both physically and mentally? (I usually shy away from the dark stories, but this author does a fabulous job and I couldn’t pass it up.)
You can't pick your family. Asher, bravely reinvented himself, seeking distance from his very dysfunctional family, in NC. His Dad, Charles, a serial killer, on death row, committed suicide. Austin, his younger brother who was 13 at the time of the trial, stood by Charles and believed in his innocence. Austin, decides to go into the family business. Ash, seeks emotional release in casual relationships. Christian, his crush wants monogamy and commitment. Ash, keeps his distance in a misguided idea of protecting Christian. Austin, is intent on keeping his Dad's mission alive and Ash is his first target. What ensures is a horrific cat and mouse adventure that keeps you on edge and glued to your kindle. Does Ash manage to keep Christian sage? How does Austin choose his victims? Does Ash change his mind about Christian? Does Ash manage to fix the family? Great story, makes you appreciate your own family. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a great read from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. It was a quick read that was fast paced but still felt complete. It was really well written and I loved the characters. The 2 MCs had great chemistry and I was rooting for them to last. The I love yous come quick but they are an established couple so it didn't feel instalove and instead felt very natural. This was a lower steam and more angsty read. There is a little steam but the tragic story, action and suspense takes precedence and gives off so many emotions. I absolutely would recommend this to anyone that like a good murder investigation.
The only thing that could have made it even better would have been a future epilogue of them happy together.

Austin sells the family story to a tabloid including exposing Asher's new identity. Asher fears he is like his father and brother but realizes that he isn't. At his side is his love Christian and when Christian is shot, Asher confronts his brother. I think it was perfect justice how it was all resolved. Unfortunately Asher has a long recovery ahead of him but has Christian to love him and to be with him.
When I turned the last page I could actually hear my heart beating frantically in my head. My entire body was so tense it was painful. This author, once again, has created a mind blowing suspense story that was gripping and terrifying. It’s amazing that in spite of this I couldn’t put it down. Christian and Asher return and, once again, they’re fighting a evil that is personal. If heart pounding suspense is your thing, you’ve come to the right place.

I am speechless with this book. I loved the crime and love combo with this book. I loved the emotional rollercoaster that Asher was on but at least Asher was finally able to admit his feelings for the one man that he ever loved. I loved the suspense, and intenseness of this book but also the love that came out for Asher and Christian. I thought that this was an excellent addition to this series. I would highly recommend this book, this series and Ms. Carrie as an awesome author.

This is book 7 of the "To Love and Protect" series by Carrie Davis. When the storyline is about the fallout and collateral damage of having a father as a convicted serial killer, there is not a whole lot one can do to make it pretty. Lots of sadness, lots of scary creepiness, an appropriate amount of non-gratuitous erotica, and a good reason to choose your own family and not feel bound to the one you were born with. Yikes.

What do you do when the family legacy is murder and is coming for the man you love? Cop Christian persists in his pursuit of Asher who tries his hardest to keep him at arm's length when his brother August is determined to make Asher pay for not siding with their murderous father. Truly an enjoyable suspense filled mm romance.

Asher's father was a serial killer and now his brother Austin is ready to start up where his father ended. First Austin needs to make Asher pay for not being there for their father. Christian is a cop and will do anything to keep Asher safe because he loves Asher and wants to spend the rest of his life with him. I really enjoyed this book.
It seems as if I missed out on something with this story. With that being said the story was sad as far as the Cain and Able twist goes. The love between Christen and Asher is something that carries the story to a happy ending. However, Austin is someone that makes the book very frightening!
Wow this is a suspenseful adventure. As always this was a pleasure to read. There is so much happening from intrigue to suspense with a perfect ending to a stunning adventure. Can’t wait to read more from this amazing author.
This was a good suspense novel without the element of mystery. A solid second chance romance with plenty of action. I liked Christian and Asher had red hot chemistry and had to work hard for their happy ever after.
Wow what a start to a book. From chapter 5 onwards I was rooting dor a favorable outcome for Asher and Christian. Man did Austin put them to the wringer. I could finally excel whilst reading the last chapter. I found it creepy and thrilling to get a look in to the mind of Austin in yhe chapters that where written from his pove. There is a hfn/hea for Christian and Asher. Triggers might apply for some. 4,5* I received an arc through Booksprout.
