When alpha football star Matthew Vega is failing his physics class, and it appears that he could miss out on the opportunity to play in his University's upcoming rivalry game, he gets assigned a tutor to help bring his grade up. He's not sure what to make of the beautiful omega who seems to hate his guts for no reason.
When nerdy physics major Miles Tran gets assigned to tutor the university's star football player, he's hesitant to accept the duty. He's got his own past with football players, one that has left him with scars both internal and external. He's unsure what to make of the handsome alpha who seems so different than the horrible abusers of his past.
Little do they know that their meeting is about to change both of their lives in ways they couldn't have foreseen.
Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below. “Hey… hey, little star. It’s okay. Everything is okay. I’m here. Do you want me to hold you? Would that make you feel better?”
Reviewing this book is difficult, because I sort of really do love it a lot, but there’s also a fair bit to criticize. I love the story. The hurt/comfort (both ways) is so good, and I love how cheesy and super sweet (and hot!) the romance is. It is omegaverse through and through with knots, lots of slick and tons of scenting (which is adorable). It’s also pretty high heat, with plus points for adorable PDA.
It does have a bit of a wattpad feel. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all, it’s just very different. It could probably use a few rounds of editing as it’s pretty rough, but I honestly enjoy the characters and how low angst the story is so much that I can overlook a lot of it. It’s a very long book considering the plot, but I think that’s just the author’s style, which is okay. It’s my third time reading it so it’s obviously fine, lol.
One thing that is pretty jarring at first (and a hard no for many) is that it changes POV in the middle of chapters (and sometimes paragraphs) out of the blue. You gotta pay attention, lol. I get used to it pretty fast, but for others I know it can be super annoying and difficult to get into.
Anyway, now that it sounds like I’ve only got negative shit to say, let me end the review by saying that Miles sounds so freaking cute. He wears makeup sometimes, cute underwear, short shorts, crop tops and knee-high socks. Cute cute cute.

Matthew wondered if Miles realized how loud he was during sex, and thought he must not, because he was pretty sure that people heard him begging for his cock.
reading this was a chore. i dont mind the lack of plot (based on what i have read), the excessive cheesiness, and the stereotypical characters but the moment im not enjoying it at least 90% that book will get the chop treatment. thrown off the window, out of the door quickly. my biggest issue here was how the story was so draggy to me. certain things and events that can be explained in one or two sentences got a full blown paragraph treatment. i was bombarded with these hefty paragraphs that got me yawning. i was def waving my placard that says wrap this shit up. oh my god this is my third straight dnf. i need a break.
⭐️ 4.5/5 — I laughed, I cried, I melted, and I screamed “PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!” 😫🥹💞 🌶 3.5/5 — Intense cum marking, tender knotting, and emotional cockwarming that’ll have you like “Am I blushing or ovulating??” 😳❤️🔥💦
💭 My Rambling 💭
Once again, I picked up a book with a jock/nerd pairing. Like… SHOCKER, right? 🙈🤣 I’m such a sucker for it—can’t even pretend otherwise 🤭. I read what I like, and my mood told me “PICK THE NERD AND THE JOCK, DUMMY!” 🫵🏻🤨 So here we are. 😝💀
And holy hell, this book is so stinking sweet it made my blood sugar spike into another dimension!! 🍭📈 But the hurt/comfort in here? Oh, it balances out all that high-octane sweetness perfectly. Like yeah, it's cute as hell—but it also punches you right in the gut when you least expect it. 🤌🏻💋✨️
My very first Jett Masterson, and I gotta say—what a lovely ride. New favorite author unlocked! 🤩💖✅
💔🫂 Two Broken Boys Walk Into a Love Story 💔🫂
Quote (Matthew): He could hear the same old words echoing around in his head. ‘Stupid. Worthless. Weak.’ The only time his dad had ever been proud of him was when he had gotten into Clearwater University on a full ride football scholarship.
💭 Matthew didn’t just have daddy issues—this man had a whole LOVE DEPRIVATION ARC. His dad’s the kind of emotionally constipated Alpha who thinks scenting cause weakness and affection is a disease. 🤦🏻♀️ Poor alpha baby grew up thinking love had to be earned, not given. And that shit wrecked him. 😭💔
Quote (Miles): Miles bit his lip and evened his breathing out. He could do this. He wasn’t fifteen anymore. He was an adult, and he wasn’t scared of some football player. - He’d spent most of his school years being relentlessly bullied by the football team and cheerleaders and all the other popular kids at his school.
💭 Miles, my sweet little omega, wasn’t just bullied—he was brutalized. To the point he almost didn’t make it out alive. This man has trauma layered like a damn onion 🧅😭 and the fact he still tries to be brave? I was out here holding my chest like, “SOMEONE GIVE THIS BOY THERAPY, LOVE, AND SNACKS IMMEDIATELY!!!” 😫😭
💞❤️🩹 And Then Came the Healing 💞❤️🩹
Quote (Matthew): “Hey… hey, little star. It’s okay. Everything is okay. I’m here. Do you want me to hold you? Would that make you feel better?”
Quote: Miles looked at his alpha who was crying and he didn’t know how to help him. This was hell. Watching his alpha in pain and not being able to stop it was actual hell. - “Why are you crying, little star?” Matthew asked, voice thick and a little stuffy. “Because you’re hurting… and I can’t stop it. There’s no wound for me to lick and heal, no monster for me to scare away, no number of kisses that will make whatever’s hurting your heart feel better…”
💭 So when these two broken souls start healing together? Chef's. Fucking. Kiss. 🤌🏻💋✨️ It's soft. It's tender. It's awkward. It's everything I love about mutual HURT/COMFORT DONE RIGHT. Like watching two cracked hearts stitch each other back together with shy smiles and emotional damage.
And the fact that Matthew isn't afraid to cry? UGH, I LOVE A VULNERABLE ALPHA WHO WEARS HIS HEART ON HIS DAMN SLEEVE 😭💪🏻💖 10/10 WOULD UGLY-CRY AGAIN. 🥲🤭
👑💘 The Consent King with Soft Words and Filthy Mouth—My Favorite Combo 🥵🔥
Quote (Matthew): “It’s your first time, I want you to think about it and be sure. I want the time to be right. I want it to be special. I want it to mean something.”
💭 Okay but HELLO?? This man isn’t just hot—he’s EMEMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT HOT 😍 The kind of guy who double-checks consent, slows things down, and still makes your heart do a goddamn backflip. 💘 He didn’t rush Miles, didn’t pressure him—just made him feel safe. Like, sir, HOW DARE YOU be this respectful AND this sexy at the same time 😭💞 Certified Consent King. 👑🧎🏻♀️
Quote (Matthew): “My omega… my perfect little star. I’m gonna fuck you so good, Baby. Gonna fill you up and knot you all night, until you can’t even walk tomorrow, until you scream so loud for my cock that everyone will know how good I’m giving it to you.”
💭 And THEN—because balance is important 😌 —he flips the switch and goes FULL FILTHY ALPHA MODE. 🐺🔥 One second soft whispers, next second it’s “You won’t walk tomorrow.” The range?? INSANE. The whiplash?? DELICIOUS. 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🫦🫦🫦
Matthew is the textbook definition of a perfect book boyfriend—caring, respectful, and absolutely feral when the time’s right. 😮💨💋💎
🌳💚 Green Flags Galore (with a Few Rotten Branches) 🌳💚
This book is like a goddamn green flag convention! 🥹💚😭 Aside from Blaise Conley—the walking, talking hemorrhoid I sincerely hope chokes on his own dick and balls 🖕🏻😤 —everyone else is an absolute gem. 😍💎
All Miles’s friends? Green flags. All Matthew’s football teammates? Green flags. My personal faves? Naeem and Sejoon—literal cinnamon rolls with vibes so fun and pure they could cleanse a cursed soul 😭💞 This book doesn’t just give you good characters, it gives you a whole damn forest of emotionally healthy, supportive, warm-hearted humans. 🌳💚
This book is so comforting and full of love from everyone around the MCs—not just between them. Like… WHO ALLOWED THIS MUCH WHOLESOMENESS??? My heart wasn’t readyyy 😩💘
🤏🏻⏳ Just a Tad Too Long, Baby 🤏🏻⏳
Now listen, I loved this damn book. It fed me, hugged me, tucked me in, and whispered sweet nothings in my ear. But somewhere around page 350 I started side-eyeing it like, 😒 “Okay sweetie… we still goin’?” 😮💨
It’s almost 500 pages, and honestly? It could’ve been perfect if someone had snatched away around 100 of those. Just a teeny bit repetitive and draggy in the middle—like, I get it, y’all love each other, now GO KISS AGAIN AND MOVE THE PLOT!! 😭😂
Still, it’s a 4.5⭐️—rounded up to 5 because Goodreads can’t stop me from spreading joy. 😌✨ Yeah, it’s a tad long-winded, but who cares when it’s this sweet, heartfelt, and healing? I finished it smiling, blushing, and lowkey ready to reread just for the cuddles. 🥰💞📚
📝 TLDR 📝
Pick this up if you’re into: 🏈 Sweet jock x adorable nerd supremacy (I eat this shit up every timeee 🙂↕️) 💚 Mutual healing, trauma, and therapy-worthy cuddles 🔥 Consent king alpha + baby soft omega who deserves the world 🌈 A forest of green flags with only two certified assholes 🍭 So sweet my blood sugar filed for divorce 🤪
P.S. 💌
🌀 The sudden POV switches mid-chapter (and sometimes mid-paragraph 👀) didn’t bug me one bit—my brain just went “Okay cool, vibes shift, carry on.”
👃🏻 And holy pheromones, this book has THE BEST SCENTING I’ve ever read in any omegaverse. Like… award-winning sniffing excellence. Somebody give Jett Masterson a damn medal for making me jealous of fictional olfactory chemistry 🥇🏆💐🔥
- Quotes: ⚠️ Spoilers ⛔️
“Cool. Up top.” Matthew said, and raised his hand for a high five. Miles' reaction was instantaneous and heartbreaking. The omega drew back immediately, flinching away from him as a small sound, almost like a distress call bubbled up out of his mouth, though the omega cut it off almost at once. Matthew’s stomach clenched up tight at the sound. Miles had reacted like he thought that he was going to hit him. - He wanted to know who had hurt him, and a deeper, animal part of him wanted to find the one who had made him this way and beat the shit out of them. - He turned around and didn’t even look at Miles as he stepped over and started grabbing his things and shoving them into his backpack, not caring if they were bent and damaged. He was on the verge of crying and no way in hell was he about to break down in front of this omega who hated his guts. - “I’m sorry I was so mean to you. I was just scared.” “I’m sorry too. I’m sorry for whatever happened that made you so afraid. But I promise I’m not going to hurt you.” - The idea of touching someone other than Miles had his erection deflating and made him feel dirty, which was odd. - “I think you’re selling yourself short. You’re as brilliant as any of your stars.” “Thank you… that’s probably the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.” - “I know you can do it.” Miles said, looking at Matthew. “I believe in you. You’re smart and passionate. You can do anything you set your mind to. I think that your dream sounds incredible. I bet you’ll be amazing.” “Thank you. No one’s ever told me that they believe in me before.” - “You’re so pretty, Baby. I’m so lucky that you trust me to touch you like this.” - “You didn’t ruin anything. I’m still dying to finish up where I started. I could do this all night, little star. I could lick you open until the sun comes up tomorrow and still not be satisfied.” - “Alpha?” Miles spoke quietly and the single word seemed to catch Matthew’s attention completely. “Yeah, Baby?” Matthew answered, his voice thick and rough. “Can I touch you now?” “You don’t have to. I can go if you’re not ready for-” Matthew started but Miles cut him off. “I want to. I want to see you, feel you. Wanna make you feel good.” Matthew made that low growling noise again as his eyes met Miles'. “Yeah, Baby. You can do whatever you want. I’m all yours, little star.” - “God, Baby you’re so fucking pretty. You’re all I can think about. All I dream about.” - “Yes. Yes, Baby. You’re mine and I’m yours.” - “So, how did your test go?” “I think I did really good, other than the fact that I kept getting hard while I was answering the questions. But I’m pretty sure that’s like a Pavlovian response you’ve trained into me now. Physics is apparently my new kink.” - “Come here, little love.” “What am I supposed to do?” “You want me to…?” “Ride my face? Yeah. Come on, Baby. You can do it.” - “Baby… what are you doing?” “Do you actually think I’d let you go back to your dorm and ride your hand? No fucking way. I only want you cumming in or on me from now on. Got it? Did you hear me, alpha?” “Fuck… yeah, Baby. I heard you.” “Good. Now fuck my mouth, Matty.” - “Oh god, I love your knot, Matty… You make me feel so safe… It feels so good… I want it inside me all the time, I don’t ever want you to leave. I just want your knot to stay in me forever, keeping me all stretched open for you… mmn…” - “I love knotting you, Baby. You feel so good around my knot. So warm… so wet for me… I love how wet you get when I touch you. Nothing’s ever felt as good as you. When my knot is in you… ngh… it feels like heaven, little star. Your body cradles me just right, so soft and yet so tight. I would just live inside you forever if I could.” “You wanna go again, alpha?” “Always.” - “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll keep you safe, little star. I’ll hold you as long as you need.” “Don’t you have practice?” “Fuck practice. Nothing is more important than you.” - “Nothing about any of this is your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re my perfect little star, and I’m so sorry I left you alone. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you. I’m sorry that you had to feel scared again. I promise I’ll do everything to make it up to you. I’ll prove that I can take care of you. I promise I’ll be a good alpha to you.” “Oh, Matty… you’re already the best alpha I could ever ask for. You make me feel safe. The moment I see you, I’m not afraid anymore. I already trust you to take care of me. I love you.” “I love you too, little star. I love you more than anything.” -

I really enjoyed Talk Nerdy to Me. It is a cute Omegaverse Nerd/Jock story. I thought the story was charming and romantic. There are dark moments as we learn about Miles’s past and also the situation between Matthew and his parents.
It was a sexy and syrupy sweet story overall with little plot. I love how we get to see Matthew and Miles get together and fall in love. They both have such supportive and wonderful friends. It was an easy, light read. It is not perfect, but something about Jett’s writing and stories works for me. The sudden and paragrpah to paragraph POV switching (Which I am starting to think is a stylistic choice by the author, as I see it in other books) will not appeal to everyone.
I would love to see more stories by Jett set in this omegaverse world. Overall I enjoyed it and look forward to their future works.
1 star for the book and 1 for me, because somehow i made it to the end.
this is not bad, it’s cute and entertaining but not for almost 500 pages. there isn’t a single reason why this should be this long. this should be like 250 pages and i’m being generous.
DNF 5% The writing style was choppy. The POV changes were happening in the middle of a paragraph, it was confusing and took me out of the story. Maybe I gave up too soon, because I love the jock and nerd trope, but the story & writing style just weren’t good enough for my taste.
DNF@9% I personally just couldn’t get into this. I wish there was more details and connections between the characters. The Omegaverse portion seemed to be disjointed with the rest of the story, just didn’t seem to fit.
The first half of this book was so good, but then the rest lacked plot and just dragged on for what felt like forever.
Unpopular opinion, but I like Jett Masterson’s wordy writing. I love the cheesiness of their work. And I adore the spice. But honestly there wasn’t a lot of substance to this book in comparison to the Vanilla Baby trilogy, and I just got bored.
Miles and Matthew were wonderful characters, and I loved all the ones we got on the side as well, especially Sajoon and Naeem. The little found family amongst the football team was so cute, especially after what Miles went through in high school.
The entire book seems to only span about 3 weeks, and then the last handful of chapters just speed through years and years after until their eventual mating ceremony. We didn’t even get to see the proposal. The pacing was just kind of weird and off-putting.
I still intend on reading Jett’s entire catalog, I just get so emotionally attached to their characters.
Y’all. YES. Holy crap, we’ve got hurt/comfort, alpha/omega, knotting, possessiveness, scenting, growling, marking, and one of THE sweetest and sexiest MM romances ever. This isn’t paranormal but it’s part of the Omegaverse. Matthew is the alpha football player and he’s amazingly protective and caring. Miles is our traumatized omega and he’s sweet as pie and so brave. Gah! I’m seriously OBSESSED this this couple, no joke.
I’ve read my fair share of Omegaverse books and my fair share of MM books but I don’t think I’ve ever read these two combined. A completely new world that is sensual and emotional and hot af and beautiful.
My heart ached for everything Miles went through but rejoiced in his found family. Matthew’s parents can get fcked but I adored everyone who surrounded Miles from his nerdy friends to his sweet parents. Even the football team had an AMAZING presence. It excites me when side characters are just as important and there are so many in this story.
This book was amazing, I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The main characters' love was beautiful and special and reading them fall in love was lovely.
But two things that bothered me: 1. I do not know if it's because it's an Alpha/Omega story but the fact that the side characters could always hear everyone having loud and aggressive sex was just wild to me. 2. It was so fucking long. Like it was good material but I do not think it needed to be this long at all. A good bit of scenes did help bring the characters together but at some point, it was a lot to read.
This is an omegaverse opposites attract college romance, featuring Matthew Vega and Miles Tran, and is a standalone book.
I set out this year to expand my reading types and boy o boy did this one make me thankful I did. I haven’t read much omegaverse and I see I’ve been missing out.
This is such a beautifully written story about an omega named Miles who had a traumatic past but, through the love and support of family and friends, rebuilt himself to go to college. And an alpha named Matthew who was slightly touch starved and living the future his parents wanted but was unhappy with his life.
When Miles and Matthew meet, it’s rocky at the start because of Miles’s past but it doesn’t take long for Miles to see the true Matthew and they fall hard and fast for each other. Loved everything about how they connect and protect each other. The scenting when they are upset made melt a little.
I loved how protective everyone is about the relationship bond two people have too. But also how protective alphas should be with omegas. It was so much info for me to take in but I loved it.
There are also so many wonderfully written side characters in this book too. The best friends and teammates are gold! Naeem and Sejoon are absolute stand outs.
And I seriously want a nest of my own, they sound cosy AF and safe.
Highly recommend you read this one.
Things to expect in this book are: Standalone MM college romance Omegaverse Nerd x Jock Tutor x football player Opposites attract Hurt / Comfort Past trauma D&D enthusiasts Virgin MC Calls him Little Star So much spice Knotting & Docking Cozy nests Falling hard & fast Protective Found family HEA
Complete popcorn read, this was the perfect all vibes, no plot book for when I needed to switch my brain off and fall into a story. It's waaaay too long. Waaaay too long. But whatever, I still liked it.
Matthew is a sweetheart alpha, strong and soft, and I'm glad he got closure by . Miles is snarky on the surface but has a lot of past trauma, it was nice to watch him come into his own and be able to make friends with the team.
A lot of this book just had me smiling at the sweet, cheesiness of it all. The big team of puppy-like football alphas doing geeky things on a day out with Miles was one of the cutest things I've read in a long time.
I'm undecided if the asthma rep is good or bad. It's, like, realistic, but every time Miles wheezed a little and used his inhaler I was like "but are you using a preventer hunny? it doesn't sound like your asthma's being managed properly". But I'm a hypocrite and have definitely "managed" my asthma like that too, so, fine.
This has Jett Masterson's signature head-hopping style, which many readers will hate, though I found this book much less repetitive than Pretty Boy as there are fewer scenes rehashed over both POVs. I'm definitely going to read the rest of their books, but recognise that this won't appeal to many readers.
What I liked: - it’s cheesy, but not in a bad way—at least not to me - Matthew & Miles, they were just cute in all their over the top cheesiness - the side characters—Naeem and Sejoon specifically
What I didn’t like: - the writing style, it was a bit choppy and took a minute for me to get into - the pacing, it just felt overly long and drawn out -the constant POV changes every other paragraph gave me whiplash until I got used to it
I am in one hell of a reading slump, so I wanted something cute and mindless to keep me entertained. I'd say this book did the job nicely. Miles was cute as fuck, and Matthew was a good attentive boyfriend (albeit a bit unbelievably so..)
I do have a list of things that bothered me though:
- Are the people in this world shifters? At one point Matthew's eyes change color as his "wolf" comes forward. This was vaguely alluded to once or twice, and never again. So I have no idea if they are actual shifters, if they have a spirit animal or anything else.
For FUCKS SAKE, they growl, snarl and bare their teeth and snap. PURR. What kind of sense am I supposed to make of this?
-I have no idea of the social dynamics of this world. Are omega's second class citizens? Are they living in a progressive, equal society? The fact that there are omegas in college and with aspirations at working for NASA would hint so, but then Miles mentions that he's used to being called "the omega" and devalued... So I'm left not understanding how this world works. Sure they are currently in college, but there are ways to develop the broader world even in this setting.
- The writing bugged me. POV's changed paragraph to paragraph, and while I can't say I was ever confused about it, the constant head hopping was distracting.
- Too much sex. This is a long book (almost 500 pages?!?!) but it STILL felt like there were just too many scenes, and they started to get repetitive. Most of them do nothing to move the plot forward, so they feel like they are simply there too pad the page count. Which this book does NOT need.
- The characters wax just a little too poetic. They say lovey dovey shit that no college aged boy would ever say. And even that gets a little bit repetitive. I actually cringed at a few of the conversations these two had, lol.
This book could have lost 50-100 pages of just the repetition. There is driving a point home, and there is beating it thoroughly to death.
- The ending was a little too over the top for me. It just so happens that a character is a law student, who just so happens to be able to prosecute Blaise for his attack on Miles. And is somehow able to get them like 10 years in prison? And the father is sentenced to something like 25 years??
Sorry, this kicks believability so far out of left field that this ball is never coming back. I wish I knew anything about football so I could make a dumb sports pun. Anywho.
Normally I don't mind stupid, dramatic or unbelievable plots in books. But when you are asking me to commit to over 400 pages, there are questions that will inevitably pop up because I have the time to think about them. This is where the complete failure to world build comes in. I know next to nothing about this world, how it works, the dynamics of gender, if these people can shift into actual wolves or not?!?
So while yes I enjoyed this story and I did read the whole thing, I'm left with more questions than answers and I don't like that.
Will I read other books by this author? Yes, the dynamic between Miles and Matthew is just the kind of adorable, syrupy sweet shit that I love to read about. If you've got a book with an *adorable* character like Miles, I'm GONNA read it. But if it's going to be good, you need to build up the world around that.
This book was so much more than I thought it was going to be. Matty is the star player of his college football team and after his grades begin to slide in physics, his coach set him up with tutor Miles who is an omega. Miles is NOT happy to discover he has to tutor an athlete, and a big alpha at that. Miles has a lot of trauma in regards to bullying by alpha football players and the more you learn about the circumstances the more my heart broke for him. Matty has his own emotional trauma courtesy of his parents. These 2 young men fall in love and support each other without question as they attempt to heal. I was in tears several times throughout this book, not expecting it to hit me in the feels as much as it did. There is tons of steam and varying degrees as they get closer. There was some stuff in relation to their A/O statuses I was amused by I happily ignored in favour of the relationship building between Matty and Miles, and also seeing the friendships with the side characters.
It is quite lengthy and there was some repetition that I felt could have cut it down significantly but overall I highly enjoyed this. I love dual POV books and this one is that. It does switch POVs between paragraphs which I have experienced before, but it can make things confusing if the same scene switches back and forth multiple times. There is an element of instalove but they quickly build on that for a wonderful and rather deep relationship. I would love to get a story about Naeem!
(Semi-spoiler review) This book was uber sweet and romantic. It does have some darker themes at the end when more of the omega's past is exposed but the bullies get what's coming. I loved several of the side characters and would actually love to see more MM books in this universe. My one complaint is the length. I feel like the book could have been written in half the length. Regardless I still enjoyed it all.
I wasn't a fan but I can see how people would like it. Writing style is similar to that of Misha Horne. I really at this point want a book for Sejoon. Naeem kinda ruined for me not gonna lie. The book is heavy on bullying a good majority of it truly. Found Family and Mental Health. Not all bad but not all grat I just wanted to finish it 😬🤷🏾♀️
I thought I could power through. But 2 days and I'm only 14% just NOPE. It hurt my head to read this. So I stopped.
I did think it was just me at 5% and went looking at the reviews. Nope not just me. But I thought keep going. So I did. But it was hard and then I noticed I was just literally skipping whole paragraphs and thought why continue. Just end it now.
Miles Tran, nerdy physics major, gets assigned to tutor Matthew Vega, the university's star football player. Love quickly ensues. They eventually mate. (There's nothing original here, the usual tropes can be found.)
It's written well, but the plot was -
There's no tension, chemistry or conflict. The MCs fall in love. They have a lot of sex. Miles's friends are great. Matthew's teammates/friends are great. Add in many mundane activities to show how the MCs spend their days.
In this, you're either all good or all bad. The bad guys are: Matthew's parents, his coach, and Blaise, the bully. They read as two-dimensional caricatures. They start off bad and stay bad. Everyone else is great!
What I Liked: ★ The size difference trope. ★ Femme omegas who wear make-up, jewelry, pretty clothes and have pretty hair. ★ The "nests" that the omegas made and slept in. So cute. 🤗 ★ All the growling, purring and scenting. ★ The knotting. ★ Lots of likable characters. ★ The perfect love between the MCs, even if it was too sweet.
The only way I could get through this dragged-out, slow-paced tale is to skim through it. If there had been drama/angst/action/conflict (other than brief scenes with the "bad" guys), I would've rated it higher.
Matthew's coach says "Your professor scheduled a tutor for you with one of her best students." Literally 7 page turns later, Miles answers his phone to *Mr* Nguyen saying, "I've got a student failing my class...." The author has already forgotten which gender the professor is? And not a single proofreader or beta reader caught the screw-up? 🫤
And while we're on the topic of the professor and the failing and the tutoring, this whole scenario is a dumpster of WTF.
Coach: you're failing the class and you've got a week to get your grade up or you're benched! Professor: he's got a week to come up 8 grade points.
What, one test or essay is going to be weighted so heavily that it will spring you from an F to (I'm guessing) a C? And it just so happens to be coming in the next week? That👏is👏not👏how👏 university 👏works👏. Not even for a book plot. This is so beyond ridiculous that I'm not even going to try to overcome it.
It’s beautiful read it you won’t regret. Matthew is the biggest green flag. He will make you standard up to the point it should be. I love it so much I regret not picking it up sooner. just read it girls and guys and non-binary pals.
But always remember that this is from my perspective and from my preference and taste . You might not like it and that will be perfectly fine, but you should absolutely give it a try.

This book had a lot going for it. I would give it a 3.5. I enjoyed the character development and learning more about why miles was so afraid. At first his fear made him seem super weak and I'm not into weak characters but once you get to know the reason behind it it all makes sense. The sexy times were plentiful and spicy, I feel the book was a bit long for what the story was, it could have probably been 100 pages shorter and still been decent. I didn't love the daddy kink at the end, but to each their own I guess. Overall I thought this book was decent but I wouldn't push it on a friend.
I wanted to like this book, but the chopping and changing of POVs without notice (ie. dividers or tags or SOMETHING to let me know the POV has changed) threw me off so badly that I couldn't get my head into the story. Also, and this is small but annoying, the Prof's name goes from Mr. Nguyen to Mr. Mayne in the same scene.
I wanted so much to like this book, it has nestbuilding and alphas protective by scent, but I can't get past the POV issue.
So 20 words are required for a review. This omegaverse story was just not for me I didn’t care for the repetitive use of the term panties for the Omega‘s underwear. I certainly don’t mind feminization of omegas in a story but this one carried it so far that it might as well have just been women. also there was a weird reference by the Alpha talking about the omega being a good mother to his future children. I could go on but…just really not my cup of tea.
What horror is this, im not even 10% in and im already losing my mind over how it is written. The jumping between Mathew’s and Miles perspective every 4 meanings. I mean dual POV in chapters or half chapters are fine. But I would like to know who the fuck I’m reading through without having to guess or read over it again. And I’m not jocking, a small paragraph and then they switch to the next person without saying anything. It’s 3 person to so.
I apparently didn't learn my lesson to stay away from Masterson's books, so this one's on me. It could have been so good, and yet it is this.
So it's not like Masterson is the worst writer, it's just that the need for an editor is so overpowering that no plot can withstand its might. This should have been 120 pages shorter, for one thing, but also the pacing and the character building are just all over the place. We have Miles, who is Every Omega Stereotype Ever (legit, is he small? Yep. Smells like fruit? Righto. Pretty? Check. Oh, and if you forget any of these, Masterson reminds you ALL THE TIME) merged with Every Nerd Stereotype (we have science! Star Trek! DnD! Video games! We were missing ren faires, it's true, forgot that one) and presented as Prime Healing Opportunity. Then we have Matthew, Brooding Athlete Extraordinaire who has family issues--but wait, not just those family issues! Some of his driving backstory wasn't introduced until *330 pages in* and at that point it just feels like Masterson had a eureka moment but didn't want to go back and retcon the new relationship info.
There are also secondary characters (who are actually much more interesting, like where is Deshaun's story and who finally gets to love Naeem and can we follow JT for a while), but then there are tertiary characters who are so clearly there as plot movers that it's laughable when they're mentioned. Will? Will who? Will the guy who exists entirely off page to let the Ms have a sex spot? That Will? It was ridiculous how underdeveloped he was, as well as the coach, Matthew's mom, and any football members who weren't JT and Sejoon.
As I mentioned, the pacing is way off; this is some 450 pages but the couple is in lust by page 48. I kid you not, there are 400 pages of them relationship-building and Masterson does not pull that off--editor, editor, editor. There's no real suspense to pull the reader through the book because you know by page 50 that everything will be fine. That can be done--I am aware that low-angst is a genre unto itself--but then you gotta build cottagecore vibes or something that is the character study of the pairing, and this doesn't do that either. They have lots of conversations about how Miles is a virgin, which gets weirder with repetition, and they talk about Miles' traumatic backstory which would be more engaging if it weren't so clearly a way to rile up the alpha into protective mode.
I wanted to like the development with the team and the friendships there but again, pacing and character were just off. And I was going to give this two stars because I didn't hate it but then the final showdown had a ton of "but he was a p*ssy" and "that guy was a scared little bitch" and I don't care if you work your way around having any substantive female characters, STOP USING FEMALE-CODED LANGUAGE AS AN INSULT. STOP IT. IT'S A CHILDISH, MISOGYNISTIC THING TO DO. Especially when you're trying to convince me that this is the good kind of football team where the athlete alphas are enlightened or whatever, don't make them the exact same kind of locker room stupid as every other jock film/book.
Over it. Will be returning to better jock/nerd romances and erasing this one.
