And dangerous.Shatina and Max are in over their heads, but they may not realize it until it’s too late.
It was nice to see Tina’s growth. Her life has never been easy, but she kept fighting. Max was a late bloomer, but all hope wasn’t lost. This story focused on their lives as young adults, and never was there a dull moment. I’m looking forward to the other books in the series.
Honestly, I would rate this book a 2.5/5 because even though it was not thrilling or psychologically intriguing, it was a quick easy read especially since Kindle allows you to keep scrolling up with the new feature.
There were too many inner thoughts of the main characters shared. While some of the actions were relatable, there was a lot of unnecessary pondering thoughts that tended to be repetitive at times. The grief that Shatina has is understanding, but I think it was focused on a bit too much, therefore taking away from the storyline.
This is the second book of the series and our book club picked this not knowing this was a part of a series, but we shouldn’t have to read the first book to find out historical parts that can be presented again or touched on. We are still clueless on why Max was looking up dirt on the politician. Overall the cliffhanger at the end does make you want to read the next few chapters of the next book to figure out what happened.
I would recommend this book to someone who loves reading a series and quick reads.
So, this series has a way of pulling you in. I had a plan, after finishing book one I was going to jump into an ARC read, I had no intentions of binging this series. But curiosity got to me. I couldn't help but wonder what it was that Max wants from our girl Shatina.
At the end of book one there was a two-year time jump, our girl is in college, she has a boyfriend, she's doing good. I was happy for her.
Sadly, it seems our girl isn't mean to have a happily ever after. At least not now. Instead, she's meant to go down a rabbit hole of murder, politics, grief, amateur sleuthing, and detreating mental illness. Sprinkle in a new dynamic with Max her former blackmailer and criminal accomplice and as started in the blurb, shit gets weird.
And I'm here for it. Was not expecting the plot twist at the end. Jumping immediately into book three.
I decided to purchase this book because it had pretty good reviews. I also liked how it was a series of books, like a compilation. "Fooled Me Once" is the second book in the compilation. From my research I figured I didn't need to purchase the first book in order to be able to follow along and enjoy the story because the first book follows the characters more in their high school years whereas this book starts off in their college years which I preferred to read about at my age. I began with Fooled Me Once and initially I intended on reading all the other books that came after this one. A pro about the book is it is an easy read, I finished it within 4ish days during my lunch hours and breaks between working. Cons are it feels very rushed, slightly unrealistic and the book has a handful of grammatical errors. I decided not to continue reading the books that come after this one.
This story had me completely hooked on the push and pull between Shatina and Max. Their relationship is the perfect mix of love, tension, and just enough toxicity to keep you turning the pages to see what they’ll do next. One minute you want to shake them, and the next you’re rooting for them harder than ever. I really enjoyed how their dynamic drives the story. The banter, the emotional back-and-forth, and the chemistry between them make it impossible to look away. It’s messy in the best way, and somehow still manages to be incredibly cute underneath all the chaos. I’m fully invested in where this story is going and already itching to see what happens in the next book.
This book by Tanisha Stewart was a' "very suspenseful story!"🤔 It had me constantly guessing . I kept trying to figure out what would happen next! I will definitely be buying and reading the next book in this series, " You Never Saw Me Coming!" It is really, " quite fascinating😯"', and "quite clever🕵", how this books last line is the title of the next book in this series! 😜
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This book was a very easy read . It is spellbound with lots of interest to find out what happens next. The need to know keeps you turning the pages to find out more. Now I am caught up in the series as it continues. Stay tune as I journey to find out what happens next . If you are a mystery reader you will become captivated.
A tense, fast-paced psychological thriller that explored redemption, ambition, and the danger of unresolved pasts as Shatina and Max are pulled back into each other’s lives.
What began as a calculated transaction quickly spiralled into a risky mix of romance and suspense, which kept the stakes high until the very end!
She did it again! What can I say? I could not put it down. I read this book all the way through with a few breaks. Everything Tanisha writes is a winner to me because she never disappoints. I recommend this and all her books!!!!
Tanisha Stewart is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! Her fast pace, straight to the point style while being able to be detailed & add suspense keeps me coming back for more! The ending was not at all what I expected!
This one picked up right where the first left off—but with twists you never see coming! The continuation flowed smooth, and the new alliance that formed throughout had me locked in the whole time. That ending plot twist though! Hold on…I’m jumping straight into Book 3!
Frienemies is how it started. Shatina and Max were destined to be enemies. But betrayal can be an aphrodisiac as well. Their earlier involvement kept drawing them in. They were learning there is a thin line between love and hate.
What is Sam doing there?? I can’t wait to find out! I think Max and Shatina might make a good fit! I hated Max at first, but maybe he can change! I think Chelsea is overreacting a bit! I’m rooting for Max and Shatina!
