Magic runs in my family. I even married a guy who unknowingly had latent magic. But in the Chesswick family of witches, the magic gene skipped a generation. Namely, mine. So, I can only watch from afar as my daughter learns the ancient craft.
Until a magic tutor I hired ends up dead, and my daughter is falsely accused of his murder.
Now, it’s time for me to get involved. I might not have magic, but I have telepathy and a mind-blowing ability of psychometry. I can read the thoughts and memories of the real killer, and, boy, they take me down a twisted path.
On the way, I discover other abilities I haven’t harnessed yet. Maybe they have something to do with what a faerie who showed up at my inn said:
That I have a destiny of greatness and will either be an ally or enemy of the Fae.
Whatever. I have a daughter to protect, an inn to run, and a clogged toilet in haunted room 303 to fix. Priorities, folks.
Ward is a Florida native and author of the the Memory Guild midlife paranormal mystery thrillers, the Monsters of Jellyfish Beach paranormal mysteries, and the Freaky Florida humorous paranormal series, all of which are chock full of psychics, witches, vampires, werewolves, dragons, and other bizarre, mythical creatures, such as #FloridaMan. He also pens the Zeke Adams series of noir mysteries. He lives in Florida (of course) with his wife, cats, and a demon who prefers to remain anonymous.
Read books in order you don't want to miss the who what when and where of this adventure. you will love the friends, allies and frenemies/ enemies! just because a stone... no spoilers So, you have a haunted Bed and Breakfast, you discover you do have a paranormal talent, also, you find out your Hubby didn't walk away after all, your daughter has a paranormal talent, you also have a ??.. in a crawl space, huh??!! This will keep your reading to the very end!
The mystery, magic and mayhem continues. Darla as a demigod is an interesting twist. Three is one small thing that bothers me a bit, though, is Darla's relationship with her hubby seems to lean towards platonic. There is no there, there in her relationship with Cory. He's a great help around th inn and in helping Sophie grow her magical abilities, but his and Darla's relationship seems more like a working partnership than a marriage.
Parker really stepped up his game with this installment in the Memory Guild series. I refuse to give spoilers, but boy oh boy, was I surprised this time! I have loved Darla and her snarkiness from page one, and now so love her even more. Her family, with all their quirks and kookiness, make me long to be one of them.
So, Mr. Parker, if I find myself in your neck of the woods, what are my chances of booking a room at the best haunted B & B in Florida?
Darla has developed a backbone. She is being fearless and taking chance's. Her family is being accused of killing Hugo her daughter's tutor. Darla comes out of her shell fighting. She's determined to prove her family innocent. There are twists and turns throughout this book taking you on a wonderful adventure. Really love the story arc.
I really enjoyed the stories within the story. In this story the Fae are more evil than I have ever read about them before. I was happy to read about Sophie and Darla coming into their own magic. Poor Darren, even in death he has a gastrointestinal problem. I can't wait for the next book.
I volunteered a honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book.
Great Addition with more than 'just' majick in the story!
Darla just is not meant to have a quiet life! Once more her and her family go thru many obsticles to help out others, even the ghosts that reside in her Inn! This is another great addition to the series, and is nice that it involves the Fae as well. Thank you for another Great Story Mr. Ward Parker!
Well, not exactly a goddess, but the emissary for Mother, Mother of nature. Darla can do without the seedlings and air plants attracted to her and the inn, and she has no idea what power she has. Can Darla, Cory, and Sophie save hope and beat the Father of Lies?
Really enjoyed the new direction this book took with Darlas powers. I also find it is a nice touch having an extra mystery with her solving a mystery for a ghost at her Inn.
I feel like the writing in this installment feels a bit stilted? It doesn’t seem to flow or have the same voice that I’ve gotten used to. That being said, I’m loving the story!
Our local innkeeper/detective just can't seem to stay out of trouble. Another action packed whodunit that will keep you begging to find out what happens next.
Wonderful story line, great characters, and un-put-a-downable! I need some of their witchy magic to do my chores so I can read the next book in this series!
This episode is full of twists. I enjoyed it. Sophie is coming into her own as a witch. The mystery of the bad smells is solved. I can't wait to see what comes next.
