This book is spot on if you are looking for an extensive and in-depth explaining of the Scrum framework. As you probably know, reading just the Scrum guide is not enough to fully understand Scrum and all its components. This book does a great job at pulling apart Scrum in orden to better understand it from its basis to its more complex elements.

I was able to go over the Professional Scrum Master Training course overview by the official Scrum.org organization and it does not differ that much from the content of this book. I also did the mock assessment provided by this very organization and got a 90% out of the 85% pass mark without consulting the Scrum Guide before the assessment. If I were to do the real certification exam I would most definitely do so. However, under the circumstances I think I did well.

This book contains a mock exam so you can put youserlf to the test and see how much you know about the framework. In addition, it also has a questionnaire at the end of every chapter to know how well you understood the contents. There is a dedicated chapter for all the assessments correct answers that you can consult to see if you got the questions right (the mock assessment included).

On top of the assessments, the author recommends books for futher reading about Scrum at the end of each chapter. I value that a lot because there is plenty of material out there and I just do not know whether they are reliable or not.

Now that I have finished it off, I am feeling confident about taking the real PSM I exam. Wish me luck!

Well put together, it covers the absolute basics of Scrum and the role of a Scrum Master within them.

It’s broad enough, but doesn’t go into a great deal of detail when it comes to teaching about the more technical aspects. As someone who isn’t interested in the job itself, but only in gaining some more perspective, I found this enough (it could also be perfectly fine for those aiming at the PSM I certification, for which I suppose the book is a good preparation together with some other material).
