Tad Harrington successfully closed Warrior Titan, but at what cost? He lost friends, loved ones, and even himself. With no sign of his brother Liam, Tad must face his champion rank-up trial, gain strength, and save his brother by himself.
What of other loose ends? What of the mysterious void egg, or his new silver dagger, Agony? Worse yet, wearing the skin of his former enemy, how will it interfere with his relationships?
All this and more in the newest installment of ‘The Dungeon Slayer Series.’
If you are a follower of the story you know this is a good one. Now we’ve always wondered how is Tad going to get stronger well we find out. No spoilers here but it is a good one some things I didn’t expect occurred and I found them invigorating there were also a few things I found tough to swallow. They make sense once you process everything but initially when the change is introduced in this book you were like what wait a minute how is this going to work. It was a case where I wouldn’t have minded if the author actually did a rough algebra example of the statistics involved. I don’t wanna go into details because it would spoil what happens overall it makes sense once you crunch the numbers but I think an example would’ve been perfect here. My only other issue here is it kind of felt bad to see them MC always confronted by some overwhelming force. I was glad to see him overcome these forces but it really sucked to just hear no hear somebody I should never be able to touch. It happens multiple times in the book some force I shouldn’t be able to touch some force I shouldn’t be able to touch some forced I shouldn’t be able to touch and I’m alive man haven’t heard this before. Don’t get me wrong I love the outcome but I found myself going have a nice thing this before. It’s like watching a romantic comedy it’s a good movie but you’re like me and I know it’s going to happen at the end here. For the record you do not see the ending of this book coming so don’t think you do from reading this review trust me it creeps up on you and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
One note to the author especially I plowed through this book I loved your work one thing that really would help in the LITRPG genre once we get so many books into the series a simple refresher. One of those in case you missed it chapters at the beginning of the book so that we have the main details and haven’t forgotten anything that’s necessary to remember. Sometimes when you dive back into a series it’s like diving into a book where you’ve lost your bookmark and you’re like where was I at again and you have to find the page and read over some things you read before and try and remember where did I leave off what was happening. Well when it’s been months since you last touch the series you don’t remember everything that you need to remember. It all comes flooding back to you eventually but it would be nice to have it presented to you early on.
In this series, upon reaching the age of 16(?) each person goes through a rebirth ceremony. The normal people it assigns them a rank based on what a persons maximum potential is. The MC is a void, instead of assigning him his maximum, it gives him a ranking of 1. The regular average human is somewhere in the teens. Voids are unknown at the start of the series, but our MC levels fast and discovers the path to advancement at certain thresholds comes by absorbing the powers from other voids you kill. The absorption does not just happen, its a battle of wills between the killer and the killed. And if the killed wins this battle of wills they take control of the body of the killer and the original host just dies. So book 4, starts just after our hero has closed a dungeon called Warrior Titan, he was killed by the boss of the dungeon, another void. This was a case where the dead won the battle of wills and he now possesses the body of the boss. The problem with this is two fold, not human, and it had tortured his fiance in the dungeon. The fiance we find out if pregnant with twins, with one of the twins drawing strength from her, as its a void like the child's father. Voids when they are born always kill their mothers. So now our MC on top of the usual level up and get stronger, is out to save his fiance, from their unborn child. There are other plot lines in this book like saving his brother from a dungeon he was thrown into because our MC failed to close Warrior Titan, which as you see above he did do, just someone assumed and got ahead of themselves. Another line, was making a pack with other voids to work together, a totally unheard of path for voids. Over all, it moved the story along, was not all fight fight fight, and am not wondering if ill read the next one.

Im enjoying the series, bit convoluted at times, but overall good
The author seems to be back on track and focusing his world build. He never lets the protagonist be his own hero, instead, he keeps tying the protagonist journey with multiple other people. At the end it feels dissatisfying because you never feel the hero can accomplish anything on his own, and it weakens him. Dialogue and pace of the story is okay, although this was just a transitional book to move the plot along. Although the main character keeps leveling up in the game Dynamics, it really had no plot movement. You can feel the author is building to a climatic encounter with the antagonists but it's a slow meandering path. The story itself sort of repeats itself as the main character just is on the leveling quest. This relationships within the story are good but never really fleshed out enough for you to care about any of the characters. Overall I'm enjoying the story, and will likely move on to the next book but without much urgency.
I have only one item that I felt didn’t fit Tad’s character. In the end, I don’t believe that he would not even consider his companions before acting on the new information that he was given. Yes, he was in a bit of a panic, but doing what he did just didn’t ring true to me.
But, that is the ONLY thing in this book that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. I loved Tad’s drive to both surpass, and yet, also be better than, the voids before him. I am very curious to see how things develop with Liz. And what will he choose to do to change all void’s potential? What could happen if Fenris is freed? Can Zero be released? Would we want him to be? How will the events at the end of the book impact everyone on Earth?
Please... Don't do what i think you're going to do.
I really love the writing style. I started into the series via audible first and have loved the story thus far. I am really upset about the ending of this one, but find no fault in the way it was done. The forshadowing took the edge off, as I am certain was intentional. I consistantly find myself reading jack's lines in the voice given to him in audible which makes me laugh. I just love this story. I really hope it doesn't go George R.R. Martin, I will be really dissapointed. Much love and thanks! Just joined the discord as well.
Tad must defeat the dungeon that the creator defector sent him in to help save his brother .
Tad comes out of one dungeon that tried to literally eat his body an essence only he was able to reverse it on his prey instead an defeat it instead . Then he had to level up from being tried to be killed by a guild clan due to greed an evil intent .only to come back an defeat the guild clan . Then had to find a way to heal his fiance while carrying twins . Then the creator defector sent Tad's brother into an dungeon only for Tad to go in an save his little brother and defeat the dungeon as well . recommend reading excellent series .
Things definitely happen here, but at the end of it I wonder what kind of actual progress has been made. Tad has certainly leveled up, but despite repeated examples (and his own acknowledgment that certain opponents remain out of his league) he still lacks the brutal ruthlessness to finish a fight in the most expedient way.
This is common in many books, but it bothers me: MC does something stupid in combat. Survives, swears to never 'play with his food' again. Does exactly the same thing again and again.
Whatever. I'm curious to see where this goes, but Tad taking shit seriously when people/things are trying to kill him would be a real step forward.
First of all I love that the character is flawed and makes rash decisions about his point allocation. It’s nice to see how a completely unplanned build functions and to see a character that hasn’t preplanned his entire build the entire series. The fights and powers seem unfathomable but the descriptions of them paint an accurate picture that makes them easy to understand and envision. Overall it’s an incredible book and I can’t wait for the next one.
The writing is still good. His fight scenes are excellent. But ... Quit the introspection. Just. Quit. I understand that a main character, and other characters, need to search for motivation, for the truth that sets them apart. But not all the time. And, yeah, the ending? Not a chance. So this was a fun read right up until I got to the end. I appreciate the story. I liked the MC and then grew to sort of not like him. Overall, fun, but I'm finished. KR is a good writer though. I'll explore his other books later.
My Rating System: 5- Perfect for my taste, I could not physically stop reading/listening and wanted more afterward. 4- Almost perfect, could not stop reading/listening, probably wanted more afterward. 3- I enjoyed the book and could see others loving it, I need to think if I want more. 2- I can see why others might like the book, but I could not, I do not want more. 1- What is this? What went wrong? Why did they do this? This doesn't make any sense! (No idea who it is for, but definitely not for me).
I really enjoyed this book the 4th in the series. It's a different world than some of the ones I have read where the character levels up. I definitely like the difference. The whole world knows of dungeons and characters being reborn. Unlike some others where they going to a different world. I think it makes it more intense when the players have to play for their own world in their own time. The dungeons are intense with monsters, mini bosses and the big bosses. Looking forward to see how Ted deals with Omega.
The Dungeon Phoenix is a stellar addition to the LitRPG series. This entry kept me hooked with its unexpected twists; just when I thought I had the plot figured out, the story surprised me. I also appreciated how the main character doesn’t get easy wins; the hard lessons and tough setbacks feel authentic, making his growth all the more satisfying. If you like LitRPGs with real stakes, smart worldbuilding, and a protagonist who has to learn the hard way, this book delivers. Highly recommended for fans who want more than just mindless grinding!
I continue appreciate this series. Most LitTPGs aren’t very good. This series definitely stands out as one of the better ones. I think it will be interesting to see how the author handles power levels as the MC begins to progress. He got several huge power ups in this book. I’m not sure about the path h the author went down with the MC’s love interest. Seems weird that resurrect wouldn’t just work.
One of my main issues with the LITRPG genre is that the growth can lead to an overpowered protagonist and it's hard to balance that. This series is starting to fall into that pattern where the story becomes a sequence of battles as the main character grows, sometimes miraculously. I can tell the author has a plot in mind and hopefully is able to mitigate this sequence.
I think that alot of the difficulty other writers face in implementing a stats based character is the balancing the growth of thr character while still making fights feel meaningful. Konrad does a great job of continually upping the ante and stakes without just resorting to ever higher numbers on a character sheet. The shift to qualitative growth over quantitative is one that's enjoyable to read and follow.
What a ride. One can not but admire the brain with such a splendid imagination. The author humbly asks for feedback on what he can do better and for the life of me, I can't think of anything.
The MC gains increible strengt rapidly and I was concerned it would be so OP that the story would loose tension, but the author manages to avoid that pitfall.
Enjoyed this continuation of the series. Feels like Tad is finally coming into his own and we are seeing real progress. The only part that made me sad was the twist at the very end. Not going to argue plot points, I just personally wish things hadn't gone that way.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I could not put it down . Lots of twists and turns that were unexpected. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys the fantasy genre. The only bad thing I have to say is that it it took to long between the 3rd book and the 4th . Now I am going have wait for the 5th. 😥
Another gripping page turner for me, I've been a fan of this series since the first. The power creep is a little inconsistent, but I think that's the nature of the curve in this series. I don't envy the job of describing the growth and levels needed. I really enjoyed the relationships Tad made and grew and eagerly await the next one! Keep 'em coming!
Love the core of the story...but à lot o caracter seen without live of personnality and the way he find solution to his problem seem off some time. Like the Mc can do it because he can and nothing else. I'll still pick the next book because off the core story tho
That was quite the ending and epilogue. Not sure how I feel about Liz becoming a void. I honestly hope the relationship is still there. It’s been an oddly enjoyable part that I had expected to hate. I really hope Liam and Gerald don’t die. I’m very glad I’ve found this series with 5 books available or I would be so mad at this cliffhanger.
I am really interested in the story as a whole. It is a good plot and so I skipped a lot of the poor decision making of the mc to discover what happens. The mc wasted a class slot for one to perceive lies of the wolf then never used it. It was infuriating and since the mc’s stupid actions brought the turmoil upon himself, I had no empathy for him at all.
This came across better than the previous book. The power-scaling tends to get a little more focus in this book which helps bringing it back to a satisfying formulaic plot read. The author is getting a bit more smooth in his creative arcs as well so they're not so bothersome. There's just enough of a hook that it's more enticing to jump into the next book, then it was to jump into this one.
The book from start to finish is amazing, I cannot believe what I just read, it is amazing. Definitely give it a try Tad keeps eclipsing humselfs and even the power scale. Makes me think if any of the opponents in the future will even be non-creators.
An amazing story. Book 4 is a constant escalation that will leave you wanting for more. The end is amazing, though frustrating. The wait for the next installation may kill me. Must read!
The story has Todd and his friends progress quite a bit. It even throws a number of twists into the story. Overall I think this was a really solid addition to the series and am very excited to read more books.
