Crossing to Live in the Wilderness Plains

Rate this book
Chen Qi’s life was as ordinary as his name. He didn’t expect that he would one day suddenly encounter something like crossing over into another world, let alone crossing over into the dangerous world of beastmen. He can’t hunt or change into a beast form, and even his physical strength was a slag’s level, so how would he survive in this dangerous beastman world?

Too dangerous outside? No matter, build a house, find food, make a comfortable home, and live in the beastmen tribe.

No tribe? No matter, we’ll build one ourselves.

This was the story of an ordinary person who worked hard every day to live and strived to make his life better.

This novel is set in a beastworld, with beastmen, beast gods, different species of hyena-dragon hybrid and wild animals as the main inhabitants.

This is mostly slice of life, with primitive beastmen slowly learning some non-primitive way of living with the limited resources they have through the help of our MC transmigrator, and some tribe building halfway through the story. MC is not an omnipotent modern man that brings all knowledge to this primitive world. But even with MC's limited knowledge, his way of doing things still seems like a blessing and a wonder for the beastmen.

Even though majority of the story is a slow pace, mundane everyday life, there's also this increasing tension between the beastmen's mortal enemy hyena-drakes and gods, and the beastmen were the casualties. So there are these interspersed actions in between their calm tribe life. So when you're feeling yourself a little tired of the monotonous events, there's suddenly this 'fight for their life' kind of scenes.

Also, what's interesting is that the gender structure of this world is quite unique and it's take a little time for me to get used to. Just to let you know that this has a more manly bottom. It's tradition for the 'female' to be the provider rather than the 'male'.

To be honest, I was easily distracted in the first 25% of this novel. I can blame the slowness of the pace but then again, I've read novels with an even slower pace, so maybe I was just not really locked in to the story at that point. But when I got past that, I enjoyed it a lot. Not just the MC and the ML, but a lot of side characters are very entertaining to follow.
