This came up on a TikTok ad. Only place to read it is on one of the pay to read apps. I stopped at chapter 13. Every sentence of this book felt like plagiarism. I’ve read it all in another book or two. I don’t think the writer had any original thoughts in their story but rather mixed a couple together. I read a lot of similar stuff so I can tell the difference between actually copying of other stories and just similar tropes. I know I’ve read this plot before I remember it.
I gave it a 3/5 due to the 3rd book not being related to the first two. Completely different characters.
What I did like was the different dynamics. What I didn’t like how mentally abusive Christian was. It was all very Romeo/Juliet style.
Was a bit sad the second book barely had any s*x scenes. Felt like we skipped a whole process in between all the drama and Serena getting preggo again!
I enjoyed the book.. although parts of it had me wondering why the characters were so stupid.. it's like watching a romcom and yelling at the screen "she loves you stupid just kiss her" kind of thing. Although I liked the first part I won't read the second only because the format is too obnoxious.
This is the book that goes on and on my friends. It started to just drag, too many plot twists, not enough romance. The relationship wasn’t exciting or interesting, Christian sleeps with his bff fuck buddy in the beginning right next door to Serena, which while rude is fine bc they aren’t together at this point. But then they do get together and he has another drunken ons with someone else. So if cheating is a trigger skip this.
Thankfully the h has the guts to leave him, but then the story becomes so convoluted with so many characters it drags. There’s family intrigue, betrayal by Christian again, he treats the girl he cheated on Serena with better and lets her recover from an attack in their house (they are back together).
The biggest problem with this story is I never felt like Christian actually loved Serena. Well into book 2 he’s still insulting her, the baby is missing Mamma and he goes “I get it, I like her too”. Like? Not love? So unfortunately I just never routed for their relationship and wanted her to end up with the other guy, who she of course never sleeps with bc double standards.
Got the recommendation off of BookTok. Didn’t know it was smut. The grammar, spelling and style was horrendous. There were so many plotholes and illogical choices made in the storylines.
