“receipts” is a poetry collection filled with laughter and tears, with first love notes and last goodbyes. it’s everything we feel put into words. the poetry is written on receipts, on concert tickets and boarding passes, on packaging material and napkins, giving them a second life. this collection bears witness to the confusing years when kids turn into adults. growing up means learning to listen to your gut, learning to live in a growing, changing body and in a growing, changing world. the happyness and sadness, the love and the heartbreak might be overwhelming at times, but you will make it through.

I hadn’t read an instagram poet besides rupi kaur before, but i really enjoy the style of poetry that is mirrored in both rupi kaur’s work and this book. I loved the pages with mini collages. There were some parts of some poems that felt a little awkward, but overall i’m very excited to have found this book!

Breathtaking, which is fitting because this book centers around the breath in the first place.

It's filled with the tiny emotions that everyone experiences but no one can put into words: the bliss in snow, sunlight and walking home at 3am. The empty pit of solitude, and the crushing weight of comfortable sadness. The heartbreak that's found in empty beds, sour memories, and misplaced attention. The love felt with others and when alone.

I find it's a very fitting book for Vienna. I'm happy I read it while I was there.
