Story diistraction
The Rachel Hatch books were one of my favorite series. But this book focused way too much on her inability to choose one of two men. It just kept interfering throughout. I like probably most of the readers wanted her and Savage together but now the author is just turning it into a soap opera. Sad to say but the character is ruined and I'm done with this series.

Hatch is a good character but previous books were better. The coincidence of the cases coming together at the same time with the two main characters ending up at the same place was enough to almost put the book away. The two characters cannot get the other out of their heads through all the previous books but when they do get together, it is kind of a cold reunion. The ending just kind of happens. Hope the next is better.

I was excited when my local library contacted me letting me know they had this book (tyvm). It seems the author returned back to his bread and butter; meaning he made this book enjoyable to read. Hatch is off looking into a missing girl at the request of her boss— she should just say yes already. Who would have known hatch looking into this case would connect her back to Dalton. He came back into this case since one of his cases is tied into what she is investigating. Throw in a religious cult and tornadoes and you have the jest of what this book is about or do you…. Read and find out.
A couple of things: how does hatch still have past issues to resolve is beyond me since those issues haven’t been listed. She needs to resolve her feelings for two guys and finally… she ever going back home?
PS. I thought I was close to the end of this series but it seems there are three more books. Lol.

I was disappointed with this book. I am a fan of L.T. Ryan and Rachel Hatch but this book missed the mark. the story was too simple and was too predictable. Standing in the middle of a tornado and fighting, give me a break! this book was to simple and went too far with Hatch's superpowers!

Love Hatch. This book, not so much.

This story has burned out.
I enjoyed the earlier books, but this one was terrible. Not worth the time or effort. I won't read any more.

I have enjoyed every one of the Rachel Hatch books and this one is an excellent example why. There are very few grammatical/typographical errors (if any). The stories are strong on plot and characters, both. Each story is peopled by characters that seem real, with human foibles, fears, and bravery when needed. This story is action-packed, with seat-of-your-pants endeavors, and is difficult to put down once started.
In this book, Rachel is back from Alaska and staying with Cruise, an old boyfriend, when she gets a call from her new boss (Jordon Tracy, the Executive Services Commander at Talon) putting her on an off-the-books operation. She travels to Jericho Falls, Tennessee (near Nashville) to solve the riddle of her boss’ missing niece.
The non-stop action is fierce and for a wonder, she meets up with Dalton Savage, Sheriff of Hawk’s Landing, Colorado. He is working on a case that collides with hers. Once again, they team up and it is good to see them together again, even if it is in just this book. At the end, we are left with no further information on what Hatch is going to do with her life, where she is going to locate (more or less) permanently.
Sidebar: I hope it’s back in Hawk’s Landing near her family and Dalton Savage. I like Rachel Hatch best when she is surrounded by people who love her. Cruise is pretty, but Savage has substance Cruise lacks (even in Alaska where Cruise deployed with Hatch in the previous book).
I am still convinced that Talon is not completely on the up and up. I think the men who ordered a hit on Hatch (as well as her father) and the agents who willingly killed innocents as acceptable losses are still working within Talon. It has proven itself to be untrustworthy regardless of the reassurances Hatch is given that all the bad guys are gone. I don’t think so. And why on earth would she work for the agency that ordered – and carried out – the hit on her father? It puts his death in the “so what” column. That goes against Rachel Hatch’s moral compass.
I rated this book 5 stars. It is an excellent read. I’m tired of the Savage-Cruise push-pull with Rachel and I am going to be disappointed if Rachel stays with Talon, an organization which is the antithesis of all that Rachel’s father has taught her. We’ll see. Perhaps this episode will come to an end in the next book of the series, due out in November 2022.

I can't wait to share my thoughts on it with you. If you've been following this series, you know that Rachel Hatch is a former Army criminal investigator who now works for a private contractor. She's tough, innovative, fearless, and always gets the job done. In the previous book, 'Downburst,' she and her team rescued a kidnapped FBI agent from a remote Alaskan area, but not without paying a high price. Now, Hatch is back in action; with the team still recovering, she will go solo this time. She's assigned to find a missing teenage girl in Jericho, Tennessee, a small town with a dark history and a lot of secrets. As Hatch digs deeper into the case, she uncovers a web of lies, corruption, and violence that puts her life in danger. She also faces some personal challenges that test her loyalty and her faith.
'Whirlwind' is a fast-paced, thrilling, and emotional read that will keep you hooked from the first page to the last. The author, L.T. Rachel Hatch Can Catch the Wind
I love this character and the depth that the authors have been able to instill into her. She's an amazing warrior, but full of heart and able to see within herself areas of darkness that still need the light shined on them.
While this story was good, it wasn't my favorite Hatch book by any means. For one thing, it was way too short. I didn't really have time to develop any kind of rapport with the characters of this story that were new to me. I liked some of the twists and turns, but the ending didn't wow me.
Now that Dalton Savage has his own series starting up, be aware that this story takes place before the first Savage book. So, if both are on your TBR list, start with this one to stay within sequence. Not that it matters a great deal, but some of us are picky about reading serial characters out of order.
If you're new to Rachel Hatch and Dalton Savage, I wouldn't recommend starting here, simply because this tale doesn't feature the depth and definition of the average Hatch book. But if you're a fan of the series, this one is still worth the time and attention.

Whirlwind is book number eight in the Rachel Hatch series, and I read the previous seven. In this fairly short installment, Hatch is now a member of the Talon organization, and her superior, Jordan Tracy, asks her to undertake a personal undercover assignment that is not part of the Talon system. Tracy's brother, who he had not heard from in years, contacted him to report that his daughter had gone missing from a cult compound in Jericho Falls, TN. Hatch is to retain her name but will assume the identity of a news reporter seeking information about the cult and its activities. Meanwhile, in Hatch's hometown of Hawk's Landing, Glenn Miller is shot and killed by an autistic twenty-one year old named Billy Graver. Dalton Savage is the sheriff of Hawk's Landing and lover of Hatch, and he begins to investigate the murder. These two threads eventually merge in Jericho Falls, and Hatch and Savage are once again thrust together in attempting to solve a crime. The plot of this novel was fairly straightforward with the formulaic cult compound angle that I have encountered in other thrillers and mysteries. This author is at his or her best when describing action scenes, but developing romantic connections between Hatch and Savage or Hatch and Cruise is not their strong suit. I will probably read number nine, but I am quickly growing bored with the Rachel Hatch series.

After just finishing the first eight Rachel Hatch books (& can’t wait on #9 to be released in a couple of weeks. Have it marked on my calendar; have sent postings, fore warnings—every kind of reminder imaginable for that bright Oct day when we get one more Rachel Hatch story) have got to say that these two authors have done a great job of building a fantastic character. She’s as was stated by Marigold “a light for others”. She’s brave strong wise and yet aware she’s also damaged as we all are.
(She heels awfully quickly too-torn ligaments and six weeks later doing a SEAL training exercise? Lol. The magic of books & our imagination—-magical.
Now it’s time to send her home & let her thrills be along side a long-legged sheriff me thinks. Lol. Just hinting.
But read about Rachel. Enjoy Ryan & Shea’s heroine. You won’t regret it.

I find LT Ryan becoming my new best author! I totally enjoyed the Rachael Hatch books. Looking forward to new one this summer. I'm just starting the Nobel series..hope I like it as well as Rex & Hatch! I am very critical of my authors, but so far I have really liked all but 2. I didn't care for the two that preceeded the last Dalton book. I just couldn't get into them...so skipped and went to last. I think I read all the particulars on Rex one too many times, after reading all the previous ones. I know for many people thats their first book, so needs a bit of background...but for us "old readers" it just gets boring. Sorry LT, can't let you skate getting 100%. Loved Hatch, and didn't get bored at all! Keep on writing...we will keep on reading.

Bring a huge fan of Rachel Hatch, I loved the book which gave you more insight into her life and continues her story. I did not think this was one of Ryan's best works and think he is just adding to Hatch's life some different twists to keep the books coming. The relationship with Savage and with her family is getting a little unbelievable. This book also seemed to be a little contrived to meet up with Savage one more time and put that relationship alongside her seal relationship and just did not make for a believable plot but was very exciting and interesting the way he weaved the murders together between Colorado and this tiny town in Tennessee. This is a must-read if you want to follow the love life and the adventures of Rachel.

During this investigation, Dalton Savage shows up. It turns out the case he is trying to get closure on is related to the investigation of Hatch. L.T. Ryan and Brian Shea take you on a journey from Hawks Landing, Colorado to Jericho Hills, Tennessee and "The Eternal Light" and the Shepard. They make it very difficult to put down this book because you want to see what will happen next. This book is exciting and intriguing. I loved it and think you will also. Happy reading! 😊

February 15, 2024After reading John Owen, reading “Whirlwind” by L. T. Ryan felt like reading “Green Eggs and Ham,” but I enjoyed it, as I do all of Ryan’s Rachel Hatch Series’ books. I have always described Rachel Hatch as a female John Reacher, and this installment did nothing to refute that description as she goes undercover to discover what has happened to a missing twelve-year-old girl. She battles a serial killer, tornadoes, small town gossip, and the emotions that rise up when a former “significant other” stumbles into her case searching for the same serial killer. Full disclosure: I stayed up an extra hour so I could find out how the story ended last night. (196 pages) (Now I can start on the new Michael Bennett book by James Patterson)

Hatch
I love these books. I wish they came out faster because I’m ready for #9 now. I will admit that the love triangle is a little annoying. For me, Cruise is her past. I know she still has things to do in order to have peace with her past. I just don’t think Cruise should be a part of the equation. No matter their history. Savage is a breath of fresh air. He has nothing to do with her crazy history. I hope that she makes a decision soon. The limbo of the love triangle is not all that interesting to read about. Here’s to the future!!

Fast Paced Book
Hatch continues to be a force to reckon with. She always follows through with any job she takes on, helping many people along the way. This time she helps rescue some young girls involved in a church cult. Hatch meets up with Savage who would love her to come back to Colorado with him, but she is torn between him and her past life and previous love. She tells Savage she still needs to clear something from her past before she can decide her future. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Another exciting addition to the series. Ex soldier Rachel Hatch goes undercover as a reporter to see if she can locate a missing girl. This investigation puts her on a collision course with her love interest sheriff. She is still coming to terms with her ex and the secretive organization she is helping.
Exciting story. Dalton is tempted by an attractive psychiatrist but rubs into Hatch during the course of an investigation. The story is pretty goid though a bit week on motive. Decent ending.

As with previous ones, the story narrated here is also action-packed in the midst of a tornado hitting a small tow (Jericho Falls) in Tennessee. The story involves a cult (Eternal Light) and a couple of very young (11 to 12) years girls have been missing and bodies of a few girls of similar age have been found. Hatch prevails in the end managing to identify and bring to justice the perpetrator.

This is another quick read. Couldn’t put it down after I started today. Hatch volunteers to find her commander’s niece, who has mysteriously disappeared from a cult bastion. When she meets the Shepherd, the leader of the cult, she is torn whether he is guilty or not. Along the way, a previous lover (a cop) also becomes involved in the search, but he is looking for a serial killer. No hints here. ENJOY!

Kick ass gal
I love this series and can't wait for number nine. I liked how Hatch's personal life has come with a twist, none of us are perfect. I enjoyed the book, good story line that held me to the end, I just had to carry on till I had finished it. My only tiny criticism is that I would have liked more action, more of Hatch's dogged determination to come through. That said I really want to see her with Savage in the end. They make an unstoppable team.

Better than the last two
This story had two separate story lines that smoothly merged to a conclusion in a fast paced exciting story that kept me hooked to the end. On another note, this book wasn't nearly as preaching as the last two. I hate adventure novels that constantly justify the character's actions by adding filler describing the hero's tortured soul chapter after chapter. Give it a rest.

I’ve read all 8 in the series so far. I have not reviewed them because they are all 5 star and great. I sometimes just can’t come up with the words for so many reviews. I will say they are must read for us mystery, action packed, eventful readers. Start from 1 it’s easier to keep up with the players and make sure you have plenty of time to read because once you start a book, you can’t put it down

Two Friends
This book was fantastic the more you read the better it got. I have loved LT. Ryan's books for several years and this is no exception. He and Brian Shea is terrific also. So much action . love .excitement, and who done it keeps you on edge to find out who done it! Read Do not miss this one.

Excellent story as always!
I was happy to see this book in que and it lived up to expectations: interesting twists in the story line with the people I have enjoyed (I know they are characters in a book) getting to know and I don't want to wait for the next book! "Lord grant me patience and I want it right now!"
