Stress happens. We all feel it. It steals our joy, interrupts our sleep, affects our relationships, and wears us down. We can't escape the things and people that cause it. We can't medicate it away. So we must deal with it. But how? How do we attain peace in life? With compassion and biblical insight, pastor Vance Pitman calls us away from anxious living to a life of indescribable peace by applying truths from God's Word to the stress we feel in our- schedule- budget- relationships- decision-making- emotions- and circumstancesDiscover the freedom and peace that are yours when you no longer allow stress to dominate your life and instead take hold of the soul-satisfying, joy-producing, fruit-bearing life that God intended you to live.
Lots of great wisdom here. His definition of stress is worth the price of admission, and his redirection of our stress from “God, what am I going to do?” to “God, what are YOU going to do?” has proved to be so beneficial in my relationship with Christ as I handle stress. I also loved the incredibly practical chapters on how to “deal with people” as informed by scripture—this book reignited a passion to be more consistent in reading the book of Proverbs!
My only concern was that he seemed to communicate at times that anxiety is something that if we have enough faith, will go away. Perhaps I misheard him, but that’s what I recall.

I bought this book because I wondered how anyone could claim to have a stressless life in today's world! The author shares his own experiences with stress in a transparent way that lets the reader know he has been through severe stress himself and wants to help others learn to manage stress. The book is full of practical steps to reduce stress and excellent reminders from God's word that bring peace. We can't avoid stressors but we can give them to God in exchange for His peace. I am by no means accomplishing this 100% of the time but I am encouraged to keep the right frame of mind when faced with stress.
My review is probably a bit biased because I have the honor of being a member of Hope Church and I had the pleasure of reading along during Vance's sermon series for the book.
I will say this. The book is very relatable and to the point. The concepts in the book are not new, but the framing and timing is perfectly pulled together. Pastor Vance is an excellent storyteller and teacher of God's word. This is easily a book that you will read cover to cover in on sitting and keep coming back to for years to come.
Absolutely amazing concept of peace and how to attain it. The biggest getaway for me was the emphasis on constant fellowship with God and trust in Him. I will be remembering this! Near the end I struggled to see how his points related to dealing with stress but the beginning helped me greatly.
A much-needed reminder that, as humans, we have limitations. Many are stressed and overwhelmed simply because they're trying to tackle more than God intended.
Loved it! Very helpful. Read this during one of the most stressful times in my life and it has given me a better perspective and helped me grow in my relationship with God!
Vance does a great job showing stressors and how to deflate them. Most importantly he continually brings you back to the word of God to provide answers.
This was a good practical book! Very scripturally sound and applicable. Stress doesn’t have to be a ruler of our life and a lot of the times it can turn into an idol of sorts. Very good perspective.
Great and easy read! Has sound biblical principles taken straight from the word of God. Very good practical reminders of how God can bring peace into all areas of your life! Thanks Vance for communicating God’s word faithfully and for challenging me in my life from your life. Love you my friend.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I suffer from stress from time to time and when I picked this book up, I knew I made the right choice. Vance's way of writing is absolutely beautiful, He not only is a good writer but from what I read a wholesome man as well. His tools on how he overcame this phenomenon that stress is so he can live in God's indescribable peace is beautiful. I recommend this book to everyone. It will be the best buy you make. ❤️
