The last (unmodified) human wakes up in a spacecraft and learns that 400 years ago other humans merged with an extremely powerful AI, that is now overtaking alien worlds, setting up colonies (made of human tissue, gross) to produce even more modified humans, to take over even more alien worlds... Our protagonist finds himself allying with other (beautifully done) sentient aliens to fight the spread of this human/AI cancer.
I saw the world-building of this comic book series reviewed on a speculative biology channel on youtube and went to the author's Patreon page to read it.
The center of the story is not the relationships of dialogues, but the art and the world-building. If you're into speculative biology, I would definitely recommend following, I know I will.
