I didn’t expect to love this manga as much as I did! It’s so good and I’m so surprised I’ve never seen it talked about about before and would HIGHLY recommend it for people to read either as a into to manga or just a chill(so far) slice of life manga! I’m definitely going to read the others when I find them😄

This review will be for the whole series; read at your own risk!

Read 1 volume

Super cute start to a new isekai. Keina’s life support fails and now she’s in her favorite VRMMORPG, Leadale, but 200 years in the future. She now is making a name for herself and figuring out how to truly live.

So far it’s cute but there’s not much plot. Looking forward to more volumes. Gives ‘Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear’ vibes.

This is a librarian review. I try to leave notes on books I’m considering for a middle school library for others in the school library profession because manga is hardly ever professionally reviewed for us to properly vet before buying. I mainly just look for troublesome issues for younger ages, such as sexual content, language, or extreme violence.

The book is rated for teens. It had a warning for language, and I wish it had had a warning for alcohol / substance abuse so I wouldn't have bought it, but it seems Yen Press doesn't add that warning to its ratings. More on that later.

Language:
It's not the harshest I've seen. Damn, damn it, and bastard are in the volume.

Sexual Content:
None, which is nice. No jokes or revealing clothing either. I always appreciate that where female protagonists come in.

Alcohol Abuse:
Unfortunately, this is what had me rule this book out for middle school. I was going to let is pass at first when, at the start, it was just villagers coming to the inn she was staying at in the evening to eat and drink after work. However, during a celebration later on in the book, everyone jokes about getting intoxicated ("I'm gonna get plastered tonight!; Like every night, you mean?; You're not wrong!") and she decides, "Everyone's singing, eating, and drinking. It looks really fun. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to get a little drunk just this once." And then she becomes heavily intoxicated, has to be carried to her room, and has a hangover the next morning. There's a joke later on about her not being able to hold her liquor when she becomes drunk after one beer yet again.

Violence:
We see in flashbacks that she and her family were in a plane crash; she and her parents were found huddled together, her parents dead holding her. We see coffins and then her in the hospital (where she was at the beginning of the book before she was sucked into the game). We also see her fight and kill a bear just by one super powerful kick, so not much to be worried about with violence yet.

So yeah... I was very disappointed with the alcohol abuse and jokes around it, considering it was mostly pretty clean otherwise. Back to the secondhand store this book goes.

Keina Kagami had a great life, loving parents, a mansion full of servants, etc. Until one day the plane she and her parents were on crashed, killing them, and leaving her bedridden, dependent on hospital machines to stay alive. Her only solace is in a VRMMORPG called Leadale and the voice activated AI companion that her uncle developed for her. Then, four years later, a power failure caused her to "lose connection" to the hospital machines so her consciousness fled into the game... that she's pretty much 110% completed.

So welcome to the protagonist gets isekai'd into a videogame where they're the most powerful being around. So far, it's not bad, there's a lot of flashback/references to "My game experience was like this" and comparing it to "My current situation" as a type of world building info dump. As for Keina/Cayna, she's... not interesting... at all. Although, I'm curious about the world at least so... maybe?

This felt like a D&D inspired manga adventure. In the real world, Keina is bed-ridden after a plane crash in which her parents died. She turns to RPG online games to escape reality... but when there's a power glitch and the machines keeping her alive are off for 2 seconds, she finds herself completely immersed in the Land of Leadale as her OP (over-powered) character Cayna. It's lucky that she maxed out her character so much because now she's got advantages when being trapped in the game.

What I loved most:
The blur of the game between real life and fantasy.
The characters: elves, dwarfs, humans, monsters ... this is a fun world.
Cayna gets creative in the town she's decided to stay in for a bit (makes some improvements to benefit everyone).
While it read like an immersion game, it was easy to learn and follow all the game's features.

I think my gamers and D&D loving middles will really enjoy this one. Adding it to the collection for next year!

Enjoyable and cozy read so far. Lovely artwork.

As of august 2025: Only issue I discovered is the fact no one/the internet seems to know if the series is ever going to be finished, both light novel and manga, as the author has some issues with the light novel (do I sense a Patrick Rothfuss or G. R . R . Martin moment here?!). That was around 2022.... So I'm not getting my hopes up on finishing this one. Note this was very surface level research, but it popped up enough times to make it seem like it is the current case still.

And if anyone wonders, I have started researching which series are done, ongoing on hiatus or cancelled. It is just easier to know what kind of expectations to have for series and not get too disappointed when you suddenly find out a series you like will never have a true ending. I don't mind unfinished work, I just want to know it is never gonna be finished.

Better than mediocre isekai. The main character has an interesting backstory in her original world, which makes her obsession with an MMORPG so much more understandable than it can sometimes be in these books. It seems like a lot of thought was put into the function of the game, even if the game setting itself is just standard medieval European. The main character is nice enough, if not terribly exciting. I do kind of like that she's basically playing SimCity with the village she's staying in, as that's an impulse a lot of gamers will identify with. I suspect later volumes will turn up the drama a bit, with the introduction of some new characters.

This was a great introduction to the series. I enjoyed the mix of a game setting, medieval and magic.

I am so excited to see what next adventures will happen and if I'll learn more about Cayna's accident that happened before she found herself stuck in the game.

Trigger warnings: death, violence, mention of war, extended hospital stay

Rien.

This was a lovely read. I just found it so fun. I am loving the main character. (I wonder if we will learn more about her life outside of Leadale?)

The story and art are lovely as well. I cannot wait to continue this series.

this was a cute, quick read about a young woman who is in the hospital and wakes up in her favorite mmorpg. it's the first isekai manga I've read and I'm interested in reading others. the humor didn't hit for me but I may continue reading the series.

Vraiment sympa !

Really nice start, there isn't much to jump into as this volume mainly looked to build the world and set the scene for what the series will entail. But I like Cayna.

We really liked this! Miss 10 thinks that the picture at the end is silly, but she likes the rest. I like the story here better than the anime.

A good twist on the Isekai genre. She died in the real world, but not through a truck. It worked well to explain her transferring to the fantasy world.
