The Trouble with Time Travel takes place four years after Seven Rules of Time Travel and the once ordinary Quinn Black is now an internationally known tech mogul that has advanced the world immensely in the past four years, in spite of the fact that he hasn't been able to travel in time.

The trouble is, just as Quinn settling into his life of not traveling in time, he is sent on the time travel of his lifetime. What ensues next is a fury of action, suspense and intrigue as Quinn ends up in places he just shouldn't, or at least thought he shouldn't. Instead of Quinn controlling time, time is controlling Quinn, and he must scramble to try to regain control and get back home.

The worst part is that he may not be the only time traveler..

The Trouble with Time Travel is the second book in Roy Huff's Seven Rules of Time Travel series and he shows that the second can indeed outshine the first, and you do not have to read the first book to enjoy this one. It is a wild ride of fun that ends all too soon, but there will be another!

I highly recommend The Trouble with Time Travel to any science fiction fan, especially those that like hopeful stories as opposed to dystopic stories. It was clearly written for adults but it was something that I would have very much enjoyed reading as a young teen. I enjoyed it so much, I reread it shortly after I finished it, something I almost never do. It was simply that entertaining!

I received a free copy of this book as a beta reader and voluntarily chose to review it.. which had absolutely no impact on my opinion of the book. Writing a review was not a requirement for me to be a beta reader, I chose to.

Following up on the first story, I started to read this one. I was not particularly impressed with the first, and the second one wasn't any better. Too much technical talk, something you can only assume what's being done than actually understand. That particularly turned me off on the 2021 part of the story. On the other hand the events in 1984 are quite capturing and interesting. The only thing unrealistic about it was Quinn living alone in frozen time. I'm not sure how much trouble he'd have to find ready to eat food, because he wouldn't be able to cook or make new food. Nor sure how he'd do mundane things such as bathing etc. He'd have to keep moving quite a bit for the food alone. And all this will double in the next life when he lives with the professor. Anyways, I'm glad that part was short. Again the ending feels abrupt, like in first story. And at the end, there's a setup for entire series of these books, I'm not excited about reading at all, and I won't.
The narration is strictly okay from today's standard. It would have been great five years ago.
All in all, it not a bad story, one can definitely read it once. Some may even nJoy it.

This book is more of the same, from the first. Both good and bad.

This book continues the story from the first and expands the universe. The story picks up a few years in the future and has a dual story line between the future and the past.

There is complications in both settings and a lot of the issues are reminiscent of the first book. There is very little new in this book and it mostly just build on concepts introduced in book 1.

In some ways, it's a little dull, because nothing new is really introduced and it's all kind of samey. But, also, the first book was really interesting, so this book is still highly enjoyable.

I think this book could have been better had new insights and new discoveries been made.

The narration was just as good as the first. Not. Much new to say about it.

All in all, this book was fine. It wasn't super, but it was just as fun and interesting as the first. It isn't as ambitious as it should be, and I would have liked it to really explore the possibilities of the concepts.

I look forward to the next.

Wait for the sequel

The first book in this series was decent and it concluded the story. This second book is a continuation, but the story does not conclude. Instead we're exposed to an endless stream of villains that will probably be the grist for numerous sequels. It's the same routine of performing numerous loops with slightly different results that are successful. Some of these loops are not believable such as living out a lifetime in isolation. The story is okay, but results in frustration and dissatisfaction. I'm not liking it.

Rounded off for 3.3
I really wish that someday these 2 book be adapted into a tv show and the shortcomings of the books could be corrected. Because the past exploration, time-looping and various timeline hopping shenanigans are just gold.

The stuff on the Array was way more complex than it needed to be, or at least it was explained that way. The end was again anticlimactic at best. Roy Huff needs to figure out a way or two to end his books.

Time travel is fun?

I enjoyed this trek across time and times, even if it got confusing now and then. Of course, some of that may be due to post surgery brain fog; then again the fog may have let my imagination run amok.

I liked the characters and the optimism running throughout the story. In a world gone mad, hope is a delightful distraction.

A great second book in the Seven Rules of Time Travel series.

I found the Trouble With Time Travel an excellent sequel in the Seven Rules of Time Travel series; and am looking forward to continuing this series in the next book. I recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of the time travel genre like I have been for so many years.

I didn't dislike the book "But"... I got lost in the technology. I found myself sweeping through pages that didn't mean anything to me. Once I finished it, I decided that was enough for me because I had a feeling I'd be up for much of the same if I read another one. Sorry Mr Huff, you lost me on this one.

Deliberately confusing,

But that is what bouncing around in time would be like, as far as I can figure. But, careful thought will see you through to the end. Some may find this uncomfortable, but you can do it. Just keep on reading and thinking about what you read, its all there.

Pretty fun book, 3 1/2 stars, its good its fun but its a little disturbing. I do wish he had covered more of the horrors of his situation. If you find yourself inside the mind of someone else, especially the someone else that he jumped into it would bring all kinds of existential horror.

Good time travel novels are hard to come by.

As noted, good time travel novel. Ended rather odd though, maybe another book in a series. I usually wait until at least 3 books in a series are published but I hadn't read a time base novel in a while.

Meandering Story

While there are time travel elements the story is more relating to unknown entities. I do believe the author relies a bit too much on retelling events from the same day too often which results in a large part of the story being duplicative.

Huff does it again. Great adventure.

Ever wonder what it would be like to live as your dad? Well, Huff answers that question in the second edition of his time travel series. Loved the adventure and adjustment to the situation.

Very creative looking at the ramifications of different aspects of time travel. Inspires my love of learning - a stimulating story.

Yeah, I'm good

I agree with all the reviews that state this book was lackluster and somehow worse than the previous one in the series. Future Quinn's world was filled with techno babble array this, and woo-woo science that. His past wasn't much better, with Quinn having two left felt and somehow incapable of dealing with one crooked cop and library security guards. In the previous book, he dealt with Russian gangster that shot to kill, in this one, it was all kinds of comedy of errors. Oh. And Quinn is now at least a century older, but only aged about 5 years in linear time.

Yeah. The time travel concepts of this book are not unique, and with the basic style of storytelling, there isn't enough to continue with books 3 and 4.

I would find it difficult to recommend this book to anyone interested in a good time traveler tale.

This book felt like a major step backward to me. The time travel wasn't very interesting, and there were a bunch of "problems" introduced that didn't make much sense. Also, nothing really was resolved by the books ending, and it felt like half a novel. I do not think I will continue with this series.
