"2 Samuel: A King Unlike the Nations" continues with King David's story and the ancient Bible times he lived in. We see God's redemptive hand working through his life using both the good and the bad to teach us and point us to Christ. At the end of 2 Samuel, we realize no earthly King will ever bring satisfaction or fulfillment. The author of Samuel intends to leave us feeling dissatisfied with David's reign. We are meant to long for a better King to come--one that will enter into death on our behalf and provide a path of fulfillment for His people.
