In the heart of the world there’s a tower that shouldn’t exist. One that has torn the fabric of reality and brought forth hordes of monsters thirsty for blood. A tower filled with loot, but one that’s spreading its corrupted roots across the land and showing no signs of stopping.
Enter Terry Byrne.
He spends his days working in a bar and the rest of the time he’s looking out for his little brother. He also scored highly on the aptitude tests for a stat rune, which would let him level up and earn abilities and choose a class.
But it comes with a price he’s never been willing to pay.
One day, though, he does something that leaves him no choice. On the run from the law, there’s only one job open to Terry now.
The story is pretty good not great but good. The author left a lot of room for world building and character development but has put some good work into plot development.
I really enjoyed this book and the writing style. Even though it was short, it still had decent pacing.
Grammatical errors and paragraphs that contradict each other happened a lot. If those things were fixed, I'd give it a 5. Looking forward to the next book.
About 3.5 stars. The story isn't too bad, at least I kept reading to the end. Minor issues: too much emphasis on Terry's moods and emotions, would have been better to show his reactions instead of explaining over and over why he had anger problems. Also, the hick wording was more distracting than creative; too much "reckon ain't so" talk really grated on my nerves.
