Never fall for the monster inside you.

Telarion and I have an understanding:
*Never talk about our emotions.
*Never express our feelings to each other.
*Never spend the evenings together.

Luckily, catching eldritch is time consuming and exhausting work. Throw in an attempted kidnapping and a bunch of missing mystics, and who has time for matters of the heart, right?

When I stumble into the path of an eldritch civilian in the eldritch realm, things get even more interesting.

Turns out there’s an eldritch male on our side of the rift. Bringing him back could be the key to my questions about my mother and about the eldritch world.

Danger and mystery could be my saviours, if only I could focus to get the job done. The only problem is Telarion has become more than my curse. He’s become my addiction.

And our rules… Well, don’t they say rules are made to be broken?

August's adventure continues in this second instalment of the Eldritch blues series. A Paranormal Urban Fantasy with an MF Romance.

I am fully obsessed with this series. The ONLY reason it isn’t a full 5 stars is because i wanted more of the main relationship to grow. I feel like so much action was going on and so many side stories were happening, that it left little for Telarion to have things going on as well. I still have so many questions I’m excited to have answered. And the multiple pov in this book i really enjoyed. I’m ready for the next book!

What a wonderful sequel! Plot, characters and romance were worthy of its predecessor. Seriously, all the characters—main and secondary—are amazing! Telarion had some moments and lines that made me laugh, others that made me swoon. I really can’t wait to continue this series and uncover the full mystery behind his existence, the disappearance of August’s mom, and to understand if the two things are somehow connected. Of course, I’m also looking forward to more August and Telarion together. Their scenes give me oxygen!

And now somebody please give me book 3 immediately. I sucked in a breath last night after finishing this book and my chest has been hurting since.

There are a few things making me fall in love with series. Mostly I fall in love with characters. I either want them to be my best friends forever or I simply want them to marry me. But sometimes I fall in love with the world, with the possibilities, with the magic, with the endless amount of creatures, with the politics. And this series has one of the most amazing worlds I know! I was therefore quite happy when my arc for this second book arrived.

I loved how the world got even more attention in this book. It felt like we learned so many new things, met so many new creatures and people and saw so many new places! I'm pretty sure we still haven't seen everything, but the image of the city and the world beyond the city is becoming clearer and clearer and strangely enough this only makes me long for even more. It's a pity I'm not the main character in this story and can't just wander around and have a look.

However, I'm also glad that the author doesn't try to show us everything at once. Just like the previous book, this book actually had two main storylines and just like in the previous book those two main storylines somehow connect at the very end of the book. And since I knew that this happened in the first book, and therefore expected it to happen again, I could enjoy both plots just as much and was quite curious to figure out how they would eventually come together.

I also noticed that I grew more and more attached to the characters. Not only to our heroine and her monster, although they have an amazing arc in this one, but also her friends and the people in the circle around them. It feels like they're all learning things about themselves, like they're all growing. The cliffhanger, though, even though I saw it coming because Cassidy had given us a warning, was quite nasty. I hope the wait for the next book won't be too long!

After devouring Aberrant Monsters a few months ago, I couldn’t wait to dive into INSIDIOUS MONTERS. My expectations were high, and they were met! This sequel is a worthy successor to the first book. It was filled with the trademark action, mystery and found family dynamic that made me fall in love with this series in the first place, and I really enjoyed how the secondary characters—especially Nandi and Archie—were a lot more present and involved in the main action. I may have also fallen in love with Lothos. Just a little bit.

The only reason I’m rating this one a little lower than Aberrant Monsters is because I was expecting a tiny bit more from Telarion and August’s romance. After the first book’s ending, I wasn’t expecting Telarion’s back-and-forth between pining, kissing and announcing that they couldn’t cross the line, and I wasn’t always a fan of it. If felt a bit like a “filler” to draw out the angst, while I believe August and Telarion work best when they’re cooperating and bantering. Even so, I did love most interactions between them. August remains one of my favorite heroines to date, and what can I say about Telarion? That monster has me in a chokehold. Or a tongue-hold? If you know, you know.

Now excuse me while I try to recover from that absolutely mean cliffhanger! Book 3 can’t come fast enough!

Ok, wow. My mind is still spinning with everything that just happened, so many questions now and yes some are answered. Not only is August being targeted but so is Nandi. And then we have even more mystery with Lanthos and her handler Quentin, and let's not forget about Telarion. The relationship between August and Telarion is epic, but her relationship with all her friends is amazing as well.
.... once I started reading I just couldn't put it down. I am loving this book

I really enjoyed the first book and I liked this even more.

The male MC is probably one of my favourite guys in a Debbie book for a long time and I adore their developing relationship. You just know there is so much still to be unpacked with his past.

Add in great side characters, a fast paced plot and heroine with lots of heart, and what's not to like?

Insidious Monsters was a fun and charming read! It’s book two in the New Blood: Eldritch Blues series by Debbie Cassidy and I was ecstatic to be sent an ARC to review. It jumps right back in where book one left off and gives us some great character building. In a change from book one, we get multiple character POVs in Insidious Monsters. I enjoyed getting inside Nandi’s head since the secondary characters in this series are one of the things that makes it so delightful. I absolutely adore the development of August and Telarions’s relationship, I can’t get enough of the two of them! There was so much that happened in this book that it always had me guessing, and I am now counting the days until book three comes out! This paranormal romance series has been incredibly entertaining and I recommend it to anyone that loves a forbidden romance with a spooky twist!

Amazing character relationships that are so well written that you are imersed in teh storey from the first few pages and will not be able to put this book down until you have finished it.
I love the concept and the deep love that is obviouse not just between the main characters but the entire extended family unit.
Telerion grows more aware and his resistance to Augusts lust is being put under strain - he is trying to do the right thing as he seems to have a chivalrouse side to his nature but August is continualy challanging him - this creates an amazing sizzle and sexual tension in parts of thsi storey which remaims fast aced and full of amazing action!

I love this story. The characters and the entire story line.
I love that we get to see August and Talerion's story, but also got to see more about Nandi, and Lothos.

August story took so many unexpected twists I couldn't wait to keep reading to find out what would be next. She's easily one of my favorite female characters, she's strong but has a huge heart. She takes no crap, but also takes care of everyone around her.

I'm left with so many questions and I seriously can't wait for the next book to get them answered!!

I just love August our kick ass female mc as we carry on with her adventure In this fast paced and highly addictive read. The chemistry between August and Telarion is super hot and growing day by day and the danger, mysteries and suspense grow and grow as well. I am highly captivated by this series and this world that the author has created and I hate leaving at the end of each book!

Insidious Monsters is the second book of the New Blood: Eldritch blue series. And let me tell you, you need to read this series. Not only is Debbie an amazing author, she will spin these stories that just entrap you. Yeah she has romance in them, but the core of the story is the characters. Who they are, what they have to fight, how they fight, who they fight. Once you start reading you cannot stop.

Telarion and August will make you swoon, yeah I said that. Their chemistry is off the charts. Like I needed to keep reading to get to their next scene. It just keeps building and building.

These characters will crawl under your skin, you will get to where you need to find out what happens next. To me that is the mark of a good book and author.

I would highly recommend this series. Hell I will even go so far as to say any of her series.

The book starts like the opening of a tv show precredits where they suck you in and you're like WHAT? and then the opening credits roll and it brings you back to everything that's going on. LOVE that! It reads just like a favorite tv show, like Lost Girl in book mode! The AH HA moments are so jaw dropping and gasp-I-can't-believe-that-just-happened, you won't see the end sneaking up on you until the few last page and wonder how you could bribe the author for at least a few more pages. So so worth the read! I absolutely love this series!

Ok I’m writing it after I finished the book and the review because yeah I write when I’m reading, so all I writed I’m not going to change hahaha because duh when I writed I didn’t fucking know this was a MF romance TAH DAM and this was writed in the synopsis of the book and was even specifically saying MF romance…fuck me sideways for not reading all the fucking synopsis… you will understand why I’m explaining myself when you read the review
.
The REAL review now

Damn guys after that cliffhanger in the first book? I’ll absolutely devour this one, like… WTF is happening with Quentin, yeah I was suspecting something was off with his blackouts and all but the Order of Yaga is a motherfucker!! But just between us, this was pretty obvious hahaha but ok our girl believes in them so I was going with the flow, poor Quentin I think they did some fucked up brain wash in him… I’m super curious to know what our girl is turning into, and why her mother has a grave in the Eldritch realm ? Superrrr suspicious… I’m smelling something fishy about our girl heritage and who is her father… hum I’m in Sherlock mode now.

Oh sweet baby Asmodeus… these interactions between our girl and Telarion when she’s feeding? Damn me to the pits!!! *fans myself desperately *.

Uh fuck I hate, absolutely HATE Nandi’s POV… I don’t want to know what is happening to her!! For Goddess sake !!! Everything about our girl is super interesting and damn when the things are unfolding pah! We have a damn Nandi’s POV urgh… that Margie old lady absolutely has something to do with the psycho crazy cult of the blank faces, yeah I’m calling them that now, I’m smelling something fishy about this old lady because duh, she’s too… what is the word? For someone that is overly cool to be around? Whatever you guys gets what I’m trying to say hahaha.

Damn why I’m always right? My Sherlock skills are no joke hahaha ok every time I read Debbie’s books I’m always impressed how well she develops the characters, the change in Telarion was so subtle and smooth that even I with my super detectives sense almost couldn’t detect, and this is making me love this book even more.

I’m so curious to know more about our incubus Lothos!!! I want to know about the politics in Faerie and to know how the contract works, and I’m really, really hopping that he and August and Telarion can all fuck in a epic scene of a entire chapter muahahaha Like damn please, pleaseeeee tell me this series will be a RH, ok ok maybe it’s not but whatever I’ll not lose hope.

He stared at me blankly for a moment, then threw back his head and laughed. It was a warm, rich sound, pleasing to the ear. I wanted to hear it again. He laughs like a hyena, Telarion said. He does not.

Oh Goddess I love Telarion cute jealous hahaha. Okay who the fuck is Dahlia? I don’t like her, I don’t want to know her and I already hate her because apparently she and Lothos has unsolved things and yeah I’m not normally jealous but I’m now because I WANT LOTHOS WITH AUGUST!!!! Shit I’m not liking where this is going… thank Goddess now we have Lotho’s POV and I can understand what the fuck is happening, but I won’t lie I’m fucking afraid to know he lose Dahlia since childhood and blah blah blah… damn I’m really thinking I’ll have my heart broken…

Blackmail. Why wasn’t I surprised. Stay calm. Think. I couldn’t do this. I made a vow to August. I promised to protect her and not betray her trust. Any promises made to Dahlia were dust and ashes.

Yeah I hope these promises continue being dust and ashes and that a wind take them away forever and ever… dramatic? Me ? Nop I’m just a direct person hahahaha.

Ok tag me astonished for what happened between August and Lothos… woah that really, really surprised me… I’m damn angry with Telarion that cock blocker argh the guy don’t fucks her and don’t let’s no one else do the job I’m seriously pissed with him and with August, if this book turn into a love triangle I’m done with it, I don’t care if the world building is awesome or the characters are super well developed, if this book turn into a love triangle I’m out, absolutely fuckingly OUT.

“You made the choice to let him die as soon as you agreed to let him fuck you, because you see, August, Barathos may have spared him. But I would not have.” He’d have killed Lothos for having sex with me? “You’re insane.” “And you belong to me.”

See? Being possessive is cute until it isn’t anymore… I hate guys that don’t know how to share, c’mon sharing is caring, Lothos is a good guy, he never mistreated her and even now that he is probably super fucked because you see, asshole Telarion hurt him pretty bad and he can’t feed because of the contract with dumb August, so he probably is pretty weak and our egoistical girl only cares about the drama called Telarion, she doesn’t even stoped a moment to think why the fuck he didn’t answer his fucking phone? She should have gone after him immediately, bu no Telarion made such a scene and she is all fanning over him, argh I’m really pissed.

ARGH after all the confusion we still have a Nandi’s POV? Are you kidding me? Come on Probably that Holy guy is the missing eldritch guy…duh and I’m probably pretty much done with this series, I’m not liking the interactions between august and Telarion, not finding it sexy or hot anymore I’m just pretty urgh with them so yeah I’m an asshole I know but I’m pissed, see? All this because I’m feeling that Lothos is being mistreated, fuck me im my second male lead syndrome mixed with inferiority complex and fear of rejection….

“When Barathos ordered me to fuck Lothos, I closed my eyes and thought of you.” He sucked in a sharp breath. I curled my hands into fists, tangling them in his hair. “I imagined you between my thighs. I wanted your cock inside me. I wanted you to fuck me, Telarion. It’s you, always you.”

Yeah pretty sure it isn’t going to be a RH… damn it… they’re going to probably finally fuck now… and I don’t even had the patience to read hahaha damn I’m a asshole, but in geral for people without complex or second male lead syndrome it’s a good book, the cliffhanger is pretty awesome too, like is Quentin being controlled by that Order woman with a big name? And August is being kidnapped again by the order and without Telarion because of the drug ? She’s pretty fucked because if you stop to think August is a damsel I’m distress, EVERY FUCKING time she’s in real danger she just calls Telarion like in movies how Shazam and you turn into a super hero hahaha but she isn’t the hero Telarion is… and I’m seeing how damsel in distress she is just now that I was pissed and my bias for the book stopped… I won’t read the next one.

spice 🌶️ 🌶️

Start off with what causes my docking of stars lol;

I feel like the character relationships don’t always feel super genuine. Main example would be Lothos. She claims she loves him and he’s her best friend but I feel like (we as readers) don’t actually see a relationship between them develop at all? And even when they are seen together on page I don’t feel any real chemistry that would hint at deeper emotions.

It can be pretty cringey at times in the monologue. Like it’s almost there in a few places and I have to wince and snort. NOT THE ENTIRE TIME. Just a few lines that had me cringing, but that’s in every book so it doesn’t hit too hard.

I just can’t seem to fall in love with the characters - outside of Archie. I’m more attached to the world building at this point if I’m being honest, and found myself skipping parts because I just wanted to know more about the world the author has created 🤣

What I liked ♥️;

I loved the world and setting created by the author. I think it’s colorful and imaginative! I think so few can come up with something unique, and although the creatures in this book aren’t strictly unique (not faulting that. Only so many magical creatures one can use lol) the world system they live in seems cool!!

Archie. He’s literally the only one I seem to just really like at the moment.🤣

The plot seems to be going somewhere! I’m not sure yet, but it’s going!

All and all??

I have a rule to try and finish every series I start. I’m hoping to finish this one too, but it won’t be one I’m devouring. I think it’s a light and easy read, and if you are needing a good pallet cleanser between hardier books this is a good choice!

♥️🖤

This adventure gets more breathtaking and more complicated with every page. August's situation with Telarion does not get easier, and following the rules they established gets significantly harder for both sides. And personal issues aside, there is the fact that some mysterious cult is targeting Nandi, there is supposedly an Eldritch man on this side of the Rift and finding him might bring August some answers about her mother, the Order seems to have its own agenda, there is something seriously wrong with Quentin, and if that wasn't enough, Barathos the jerk incubus prince wants to get a taste of August too... what an easy life, right?
I have been in awe of Debbie's skill to create awesome worlds with complete societies and their issues and even political engagements for a long time. The writing mastery when it comes to narration, dialogues, and story development is out of question. I would not stick so long with an author, reading every new released book, otherwise. And she does not disappoint again. I am a puppet of her pen, loving the characters she creates, following their every step, forgiving every weak moment and cheering them up in difficult situations. I feel deeply pain, confusion, or fear along the characters. Curiosity drives me to try and understand the antagonists. This story was one hell of a ride and with that blasted cliffhanger at the end I cannot wait to read more of August's adventures.

August and Telarian's 'rules' come under strain and trial in this second installment of Debbie Cassidy's Urban Fantasy epic. Honestly, this author may have stepped away from the main umbrella of this genre for a bit, but she has certainly returned with a bang! Eldritch monsters abound and drama ensues when the heart gets involved in places it really, really shouldn't.

Our main FMC, August, is just as kick@ss and Book 1 made her out to be, with Insidious MOnsters amping up the character growth, as well as the reasons behind her actions. The girl loves her family, and friends, more than herself, and it shows. Telarian, on the other hand, also stumbles into his fair share of character growth. Should I love him? Probably not. Do I love him? Of course.

Action-packed, sweeping, and surprisingly deep, this is a foray into a new universe you'll want to explore. Well written and well done... with an ending that knocks it straight out. Or knocks the reader out.... Book 3 is on the horizon, thank goodness!

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not, entirely my choice.

Insidious Monsters
New Blood: Eldritch Blues Book 2

Once I started reading this book, I literally couldn't put it down! It continued on from Book 1 instantly and had you gripped in action right from the start.

August's relationship with Telerion is at times fraught but has a constant undertone of unspoken feelings. Telarion is an enigma, who is he? What is he? Does he love August?

Then there are the questions regarding Nandi and why she is being stalked, Lothos, good friend that he is, and his entire situation and of course Quentin, something is definitely questionable there.

The Eldritch Realm itself has opened more questions as August explores, deeper and further.

The ending ... well all I can say is ... expect a sheer drop, never mind a cliffhanger!

Definitely a MUST read and has to be on everyone's TBR list if it already read.

This book is not well written. More specifically, this book seeks to imitate the style of a lot of urban fantasy authors, and in seeking to imitate that pattern comes across as disingenuous. The characters who were established in the first book are supposed to come back and resonate in the second, but the plot for this book does not hold enough momentum to launch the series forward. There's nothing wrong with your typical monster romance / monster of the week premise. However, what I find most appealing about the urban fantasy genre is the Unique Style each author brings to their own world. The "qUrKineSs" the author tries to insert in this world comes off as painfully cringy, clumsily trying to imitate things other authors have done better. Or, far worse, the things that are popular on a lot of fanfiction forums. I had to dnf this at 50%. When you find yourself muttering " this is so stupid" for the 15th time, that might be a hint to close the book.

I think I found a new fav author.
This book was even better than the first one. It’s so addictive, the writing style makes the reading flow so easily.
I love the main couple, Telarion who’s always there when she needs him, August who’s strong without being annoying. And the friends too, Archie’s so funny with his sassy comments and Nandi is such a reliable friend. I really liked the group they form, it’s comforting. And there are so many stories going on at the same time that we’re never bored while reading it. The world building is so complex and interesting, the different communities, how their magic works, their weaknesses and everything else. It’s so detailed and organised that we’re immersed in the story and don’t want to leave.

However, the books in this series always end on a plot twist 😭, can’t wait to read the next one.

An awesome second installment in the series But another cliffhanger

This is a really good series. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Though the cliffhangers are a little annoying. The series has it all from mystics, to rift walkers, to Gargoyles. A lot of these characters are made-up for this series or modified for this series. They don't fit the typical Norm For their species. This is nice because it gives the characters A different depth. The author can flex their creative muscles on World building. This is definitely a creative world and I'm really enjoying it I will say that I probably will not read other books by this author as most of them have multiple partners or some other Theme that I Do not enjoy reading. This fact is frustrating as I am really enjoying this series but cannot make myself read Books with themes that Would take away my enjoyment of the story.

This book is impossible to put down. August is such a fighter, I love her character. She will help those she loves unconditionally. Which is proven again in this book. She cares about her friends more than herself. Telarion is proving to be very alpha and very much wants August to be his. If they can only figure out how to make it work. Things really heat up in this book. It's so exciting watching them and of course super HOT! Lothos is an amazing friend to August. I really enjoy is character. There is so much more going on in the Eldritch realm than originally thought. August is beginning to learn more from her travels over. The mystics going missing is a big issue and more info is revealed. The ending is a major breath taker. Be Prepared!
