Rory Reynolds is a stay-at-home mom of two little monsters. She's a ravenous reader of romance and firmly believes that you can never have too many book boyfriends.
She writes feisty heroines, alpha heroes, and panty drenching smut with happily ever afters.
It's been ages since I read a rory book and I'm super happy she has another daddy book. We got hints of these two in past books now its there turn.
Right from the start these two didn't mesh together, one assuming something about the other so they kept their distance but that didnt stop them from thinking about the other. But it isn't until Charity feels like she's being stalked so she goes to Jaspers Agency to get some help. Jasper goes head first no one should scare his girl and when he finds out some mob boss wants Charity he went from bodyguard to "fake' boyfriend. And let me tell you I wanted you smack both lol the sexual tensionthe hurt they both felt when they pulled away. Poor babies... it took awhile for them finally admit, and drama isn't far behind.
I did wish Tessa and charity have more time together I understand she's darlenes friend but I felt these two would connect to. Tessa and Ransom book is next. And I can't wait.

I really should know better by now 🤦🏼♀️ I just wanted something easy to read that was kinky and a good time. And I found myself rolling my eyes over the dialogue, contradictions, or stupidity of the FMC. But this was... kind of entertaining? I think the writing was a little better than the other DDlg book of Rory's that I've read (don't remember which one) but there were still a lot of cringy moments and I was over the conflict early on and just wanted to get to the spicy scenes. Read this or don't, it won't change your life. If you'd like a good laugh though, check out my highlights 😉
Insta-Lust, and very underdeveloped. Wish the writing was just as a whole better. But, very steamy scenes (seemed like that's where all the writing effort went to). Best book of the series--but that's not saying much (rest of the series I DNF'd at 25% and they were all even more insta-lust than this one). No 'will they or won't they' what so ever. DNF'd this at 60%
Protecting His Babygirl, Book 4 of The Playground series, was about Jasper Collins, a former police officer and recent owner of a private security company, and 29-year-old Charity Winthrop, the daughter of Congressman Winthrop, and the new head coach for the cheer squad at Thorton Academy. When Charity and Jasper met during the winter holiday festivities, they were both quite taken with the other. After moving to the same town he lived in, their attraction grew, although they both were in denial. After she attended a charity function for her politician father, Charity learned that the man was trying to arrange a marriage between her and the head of the Russian mob. Her BFF, Darlene suggested she hire some security to find out who was following her and why. To her astonishment, the man to whom she was referred was Jasper. While Jasper knew who the man was that her father was trying to marry her off to, he did some more investigating into him, only to learn that rumors were circulating that the mob boss was about to marry "a much younger woman" and settle down. He very much feared that the man had set his sights on Charity. Once he found hidden cameras in her home, Jasper removed them and beefed up her home security system, then he told her to continue her life as though nothing was going on. He reassured her that he would not let anything happen to her. This book had a bit more angst and drama than the first three since it had a mob boss who was trying to steal Charity. But it had less spicy scenes in it too, which was unfortunate. I had been looking forward to this couple's story since Book 1, so some of it was a bit of a letdown. I also didn't like the fact that certain people in the book didn't get what they deserved for the way they treated Charity. I wanted to beat someone up for their actions. While both main characters were well-developed, Jasper was the more mature of the two. Charity needed quite a bit of work to reach even the lowest level of maturity, but she did grow up a bit. The end of the story was a bit of a spoiler for Book 1, so if you read them out of order, be aware of that. However it did get some of it wrong, I think. I liked this story better than Book 3, and it was decidedly a five-star story, worthy of being added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection. I loved that it had more depth to it than the other stories so far.
Ok 1st let me say that I bought the 3 books before this one in the Playground Series. I follow this Author and will read the next book in this Series. Sadly I will not be buying this book, though.😔 This book rubbed me wrong a few different times. I honestly couldn’t feel the connection between them especially on his end. He says at least 2 times that she isn’t his type though he doesn’t really give that much info of what or doesn’t look for in a woman. I can honestly say the way he kept having wishywashy thoughts for the majority of book I really didn’t care if they got together or not. I also didn’t get Daddy Dom vibes off him and I didn’t get little/baby girl off of her at all. This really is just an alpha male who SOMETIMES likes to be called “Daddy” and likes to do some spanking sometimes. This is the trope of Bodyguard/Fake boyfriend book, which I don’t mind and have read plenty of but this wasn’t supposed to be that or at least a little more than that. I also really got mad at the FMC at the end for doing something sooo stupid and so predictable🙄😡. I also don’t like that there was nothing done or said about her parents. Supposedly the cops will look into some stuff😠🙄. Now the book had some steamy scenes which this author pretty much always have, so no complaint there. 😜
Now onto the next book but after reading some reviews I might not like that book much either but I will read it and cross my fingers. 🤞🏻✌🏻
The romantic suspense was really good and kept my attention all the way through. Nice continuation. 5 stars!
Unfortunately, Charity's hair and eye color kept changing multiple times in this story which DRIVES ME CRAZY and disrupts the flow because I'm constantly saying, "Wait. Stop. Wasn't it blue eyes and brown hair?" One time her eye color changed on the very next page! (Pages 120+121) I like to imagine what the characters look like which wasn't possible with this book.
I also wish we had a little more info on Jasper- like why he wasn't a cop anymore? I couldn't place him within the series. And there's no mention of Charity's reaction to him carrying guns either. Strange.
Where was Mel during the baby scene? She was so worried about getting left out of the 3-way friendship. I was worried about her. It was all Tessa, Tessa, Tessa.
And lastly, why wasn't Charity's pregnancy mentioned in the bonus book? That kind of threw me, but at least Mel was back in.
Oh yeah, and what happened to Charity's father and mother. Did they get their just desserts? This book wasn't RR's best. Too many questions. Sorry.
Charity moved home from across country only to find her dad, who is into politics, has arranged for her to marry a local Russian mob boss to pay off his gambling debt. Charity is horrified and flat out refuses, knowing nothing about the powerful mob boss her father his bartered her away to, who has her firmly in his sights and the wedding planned before she knew anything about it. Her friend refers her to a personal security specialist.
Great story, as fake relationships go, in this one they wasted a lot less time in denial than others I’ve read. Which was refreshing. Usually there is so much more self recrimination over the undeniable attraction and emotional attachment. Jasper especially struggled to restrain his daddy dom persona, which Charity couldn’t help but respond to. Of course Charity hiring Jasper as a live in bodyguard/fake boyfriend on the side sped things up for them and their fake relationship graduates to the real deal in no time.
I really enjoyed this book! It was about Charity who was sold to a mobster for marriage and when she refused she hired Jasper as her bodyguard. This was exciting, steamy and hot as, along with being very intense both with what was happening and in the relationship. I liked the added scening at the club which I found interesting. The passion between Jasper and Charity was explosive and he was very much the dominant in the relationship but it was certainly done in the right way. I very much enjoyed that aspect of the book. This was a great book and really informative. This was an ARC and this is my honest review.
Protecting His Babygirl was great. Charity's moved back to town when her dad tells her she needs to step up and do her duty for the family. She wants no part in it. That's where Jasper comes in to protect her. I loved Charity and Jasper. Plus I loved going back to The Playground and all the other characters. This was a very enjoyable and entertaining romance. Hopefully we'll get Tessa and Ransom's story.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The reason for the need for Jasper to protect Charity was interesting and I enjoyed the excitement of the danger lurking over their heads. It was great seeing their relationship develop from being fake to the real thing. I can see me reading this book again. I recommend.
Jasper is their to protect Charity and to convince their friends nothing is wrong they decide instead of saying he is her private security that they have started dating. As the threat gets closer and lines get blurred can they make it out alive and together.
It's a good romance, very hot! I have only one complaint: what happened to the parents? Dropped that thread and tying that up would have made a better book. Also, not enough attention paid to club protocol. However, a decent quick read.
This is my favorite of the playground series so far!! Absolutely loved the connection between Charity and Jasper and his immediate need to protect her! The story of her dad and the mafia boss was written perfectly into their love story!!
The Playground Series have been a joy to read. Especially when couples from the previous books turn up too. The attraction between Jasper and Charity is there as soon as they see each other...and so their story begins. A must read.
Charity just moved back to town to be closer to her best friend, when her dad demanded her appearance at a political fundraiser, where she is created out by one of his donors - she ends up hiring Jasper to be her bodyguard. It gets very interesting from there.
I’ve been waiting months for this and was not disappointed. Charity and Jasper are perfect. A great way to continue the playground series. They were meant to be together for real.
I really enjoyed reading charity and jasper story. I really hope that charity father got what he deserved. I can’t wait to read more regarding Ransom and Tessa relationship unfolds.
Loved this book!!!!! And that's saying something cause I didnt like the first or third and only partially liked the second. The context build up from the other books is more than likely what made me enjoy this one but I want to say it was the book itself.
Protecting His Babygirl by Rory Reynolds is the 4th standalone novella in the Playground series which is not complete.

I thought I was going to like this one a lot more but it fell a little flat for me. It was good I think I just had high expectations.
✨“What have I told you about that naughty mouth of yours?” “That you-you’ll fuck it if I can’t speak like a good girl,” I whimper. His hand cracks down on my bottom several more times, leaving me breathless and hornier than ever.✨
With an Unloving, Self-Serving Father, a Girl Needs a Loving, Supportive Daddy
Charity Winthrop is rich in friends but poor in family. Despite being an only child born in to the affluent world of a political family who talk “family values”—love, caring and closeness—those values were not present in the home of Congressman Winthrop and in his relationship with his only daughter, Charity. The relationship of the Winthrop family is neither happy or healthy. Charity’s role in the family is to serve the needs of her father’s political ambitions.
So, when she decides to move back to town to coach at Thurston Academy, she did not accept the job because she missed her family, but rather because she missed her friends who are family—Darlene, Mel and Tessa. And it is through those bff’s and their boyfriends that she meets a man, Jasper Collins, who begins to make her think that the handsome, big man—a former police officer and now with his own private security and protection firm—might be a man worth keeping around.
And, when Charity, who because of her father’s political and public life, has been subjected to the unwanted attentions of a stalker, begins to notice some of the same feeling of being watched, she seeks out the services of Jasper who works with Ransom, a man who has caught the attention of her friend Tessa.
Rory Reynolds weaves a tale filled with hot sex and terrifying threats keeping the reader’s emotions on a rollercoaster. I do wish the author would decide if Charity has blonde hair or brown and blue eyes or brown. The protagonist’s appearance is often addressed, but inconsistently described. These types of shifting details might be caught by a good proofreader who might also give assistance with the pronouns and when to use she vs her.
I used my Kindle Unlimited subscription to borrow the book and am leaving an independent review.
I loved this story! Charity hires Jasper as a bodyguard for protection after her father tries to marry her off to a real creep. Which leads her and jasper to fake dating, drama, spice, suspense and more! Definitely a page turner and a good story.

Rory Reynolds writes great romance. Protecting His Baby girl proves it. The fourth book in the Playground series has it all. A Little in need of a protector, A Daddy Dom/bodyguard who takes on the job. A fake relationship that is anything but, and a happy ending after some suspense. Everything I look for in a great romance. rory-reynolds
Such a heartwarming ending to the story. Which was definitely deserved after everything she had to go through. I can't even imagine going through all of that.
Merged review:
Absolutely loved this story. Parts of it was so heart breaking and I couldn't believe that she was going through all that. However the love between was perfect. And they made it through all of it.
I absolutely love this series!! I cannot wait for the remaining couple(s) I love the world here that Rory has created and cannot wait to read more from her!!
