Having a hard time rating this. I'm not going to update rating and review on 1st to 3rd volume on Goodreads as I've read it till the end at one go. 330++ chapters. Now awaiting volume 5. 🤔
Phew!! Finally, its done. If people are expecting lots of dialogues, they can forget about it. Mostly are just monologues from 1st pov till u reach Chapter 286. This is where all those confusion stopped and we will get to read on few povs from other characters aside from Tia.
My emotion is definitely affected from Chapter 1 to 7 throughout the book. It sets a cloudy atmosphere throughout the book eventhough situations changed. I cant find happiness and laughter be it shiny day or whatsoever climate change. I simply can't. My mood was sombre throughout. Utterly pensive mood. Haiyah..I'm repeating myself.
All of these started from a misunderstanding between Tia and Rublis created by the Emperor unintentionally. To the Emperor, as a Monarch and Crown Prince, no affection must be displayed, upfront or privately. Ironically, he was affectionate towards Tia openly and extremely stern with his son, Rublis. Apart from the lack of love from his father, it turned out that he was not even the Empress son.
Because of these, it sets the life of 3 people in motions. All due to great misunderstanding, assumptions and insecurity. Ultimately, it led to Tia's execution. Being reborn, Tia's tried harder to redeem herself instead of being her usual cold self due to prepping herself in becoming an Empress (downgrade to concubine because of Rublis hatred) but affectionate privately to those she cares about. She is more responsive with those she cares about. Unknowing to her, Ji Eun was reborn too with her memory intact.
It began from chapter 8 onwards after Tia being reborn. She adamantly avoided the Crown Prince at all cost. However, Rublis was not Rublis back then. Honestly, I have a lot of confusion from reading this. Initially, I didn't understand his hostility towards Tia. Afterwards, I didn't perceived what changed him. And because of this, I disliked him from beginning to end. No redemption here. 🤣🤣🤣
Nonetheless, one thing that stands out is Jena family. I understand that they hated Tia and her family but I simply cannot relate why must it be to the extend of concocting murder. What shocked me is Mirva. I thought he was a pleasant character compared to Lars and Verita. I thought wrong.
Most unexpected is Ji Eun. Before I get to her pov, I hated her. Later, I realised that she was just a misunderstood character. I questions her motives. Transmigrated and reborn few times. I began to empathise with her only to certain extend as I felt that she didn't strive hard enough to understand the Imperial conduct and policy except to live a life comfortably. She expected gender and citizens equality. From Crown Prince pov, she seems to be a self absorbed person which I found to be true. She was having difficulty in accustoming herself to that period and chose to lead life the same way as she lives in modern era. She was just the same in modern era. Thus it cost her life multiple times.
While those 3 people struggled against their insecurities and regrets, someone was plotting treason. And the reason for Treason..why do they need reason to overturn a country?
On another note, no matter how loving Rublis was towards Tia, I found it to be utterly bland. No spices or magic in their romance. The salvation from my opinion is their children. Especially, Diana who brought sunshine to Allendis, Sein, Tia and Rublis. 🥰
