My ex bought me at an auction and forced me to marry him.

He said it was for my protection.

All I can think is he had it all planned.

Because what Gianni Marino wants, he gets—everything, except for me.

I won't forget how his broken promises left me scarred.

So this time, I'm determined not to give in to the temptation, no matter what he vows.

I only wish my skin wouldn't sizzle under his touch, or my heart wouldn’t pound out of my chest from his irresistible grin.

Most of all, I long to believe in him...in us, again.

Each time our enemy tries to hurt me, Gianni saves me, making his promises more believable.

If only I could trust him.

(Immoral is book two in Mafia Wars New York. It's an enemies-to-lovers, second-chance, forced-marriage Dark Mafia romance, interconnecting stand-alone, and guaranteed to have an HEA.).

A drastic improvement from book one. I felt more grounded with all the characters and Gianni and Cara had great history and chemistry.

Turning in His Running Shoes

If you read Toxic, you know that Gianni has it bad for Cara (and if you didn't, you know now 😏 ). While his possessive behavior drives me nuts, I also love when his protectiveness kicks into high gear.

Now that I have her again, I'll never be stupid enough to let her go.
-- Gianni Marino

It's admittedly fun to see Gianni get flustered and frustrated with the state of his relationship with Cara. He created the situation, even if it wasn't his intention, and I do appreciate how she really doesn't hold back on how she feels. Does she go too far a time or two? Yep, but I like that, even when despairing, he pushes to try to do and be better.

When I'm Gianni's, everything feels right in my life. We fit together in all ways. It's not just physical. It's an emotional and mental level that I've never experienced with anyone except him.
-- Cara Serrano Marino

This was a fantastic read! There's action, heartbreak, car chases, rewards, and a plethora of sizzle and steam. I love how the years of history have allowed them to be in tune with one another and drive their actions to find and live their forever. ❤❤🔥💥🔥❤❤

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

UPDATED 5/2022:
I just finished reading the book and almost immediately added the audio. It was completely worth it! I liked listening as it allowed me to catch things that I had forgotten, making me fall in love with Gianni. Oh, his protective and overbearing ways are still front and center but the tender moments with Cara deserve another perusal.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Aaron Shedlock and Stella Hunter. I'm pretty sure this is my first time with either narrator. I really liked them both. It took me a little time to warm up to Aaron as Gianni as it wasn't the voice in my head but he did a really good job. Stella was close to what I envisioned as Cara. I look forward to listening to each again.

I like read about possessive man, and sassy women, but this story isn’t what I thought.
Sometimes it was repetitive, and the female character only rest, work a little and fu*k ( lucky girl 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Another great entry in the Mafia Wars: New York saga. Maggie Cole continues to tell a gripping story of the mafia families we all love so much.

Cara and Gianni have been off and on since high school and Gianni has never been able to fully commit to her. And after 20 years of stringing her along, she is moving on. The only problem is, she fell for one of his bitter enemies and an evil man. A man so evil, he puts her up for sale at an auction.

When Gianni rescues her, he does everything he can to cement their relationship, including forcing her into marriage. Cara just can't believe that Gianni is doing this for the right reasons and he has quite a hard road ahead to win her trust... but if there is one thing Gianni Marino is good at.. it's seduction.

This relationship has its toxic elements for sure. Maybe even more so than book 1 in the series, which was actually called Toxic. But it was very compelling and I was rooting for them to work it out. We all love a reformed bad boy and Gianni is nothing if not that.

I am loving this family just as much as the previous series and I can't wait for more.

Sucks

First off they are in there forties. Next main male character treats the main female character like shit for over 20 years. She finally gets over him and lives her life just for him to come back in it to force her to marry him by lying that it's the only way to keep her safe. She keeps telling herself that she can never trust him again and will never be with him again but the first time that he touches her she's so thirsty she can't resist him. Come the fuck on. This is only at 16% in the book. She couldn't play hard to get until at least 40%. I hate lead female characters that don't have a back bone. What's the point of the rest of the book. More than likely sex scenes since the author Sucks.

Immoral was a story that I really fell in love with pretty quickly. I will admit that going into this one, I was a bit nervous with it, as I wasn't sure what it would contain or if it would have the level of too much angst for me. The previous book "Toxic" we saw the built up of the relationship between these two and its was top angst. But I went it with this one and I absolutely adored every single moment of this one. Its different than what you would expect, but the set up of the story is what made me want to pick this one up more quicker than the others. I also really enjoyled that they way we get the serial plot building more. I really want these brothers to find a way to convince their dad what needs to happen for them moving forward. I do love seeing the O'Malley's involved still with this series and seeing the way that Maggie Cole has built up this world. I really enjoyed this romance in the story. Its probably one of my favorites that this author has written. I just love the whole marriage of convenience and we definitely see how much it is needed in this one. I also loved the way in which we see the manner in how the hero fights for the heroine. He makes mistakes for it, and is wanting to move forward, the heroine though is hurt and trying to get it good in their relationship again. I am not sure how I feel about the conflict with law enforcement to be honest, I am still on the fence, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story and it won me over so quickly. I didn't want to put this one down and was such a fast read for me. If you are a fan of mafia love, then I can't recommend this one enough.

I disliked the storyline

Claiming that she’s his true love doesn’t excuse everything the H put the h through. Wasted her time and now in your 40’s you decide it’s time to settle. 😂🙄

Story; ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: second chance
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Cara and Gianni have been on and off again since high school. Every time he says it'll be different, but ends up walking away and hurting her all over again. But since she's been in her 40s, she DONE. D. O. N. E. Done and when Gianni tries to warn her about her current boyfriend, she blows him off thinking he's just trying to win her back to break her heart again. Gianni knows he's messed up, but after the last time she wrote him off, he's been desperate to get her back. When her new "boyfriend" kidnaps her to get at Gianni, he knows he's got to take drastic measures to prove he's all in this time and to keep her safe.

I had super strong feelings with this one, lol. Like visceral strong feelings and it took me a couple days to write this one out. The writing is fantastic and it's not stop action and hot smexy times from page one. Tons of things going on. Pieces moving on the board for overarching storylines. I absolutely love the complex world Maggie Cole is building. The relationship between Gianni and Cara is super hot. They obviously have tons of chemistry and a lifetime of history between them and Maggie does a fantastic job of writing that into the story. Gianni basically spends the whole book trying to prove to her he's a changed man. Grand gestures ✅ . (Slight) groveling ✅ . Lots of super super hot smexy ✅ . I just couldn't with Gianni, though. I think it was specifically, his desire now that they're in their 40s ... to settle down and pop babies out that pushed me to the "I would never forgive this man" category, lol. Like she hasn't had kids this entire time because of him and now he wants her to start popping them out. That was just too much for me and quite frankly, I would have washed my hands of him, but I'm really glad I read the book as part of the series and I actually really enjoyed it overall... if that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Immoral is the second book in the Mafia Wars New York series by Maggie Cole. The books are interconnected standalones and sometimes run in parallel, but best enjoyed when read in series order. They are told in first person, from dual perspective.

I. Just. Couldn't.

I am so completely and utterly done with female leads who cannot control their libidos, and beyond disgusted and frustrated with the cop out "I just can't help myself," and this female lead was definitely one of those. She starts out the most pathetic, sexually driven, libido led doormat. It took her less than a week to get over two decades of getting run out on/abandoned and repeatedly crapped on by this guy and it took me less than five chapters to really dislike the pattern. Cara had lots of hate filled angry inner monologue and comebacks, but ALWAYS caved in short order, giving herself to the man who threw her aside after bulldozing through her life DOZENS of times, convincing her to end other relationships repeatedly over DECADES.

To my mind Gianni, for his part, was unredeemable, and I didn't really care about what he wanted or believe he deserved a last chance. I can't help (see I can use that excuse too) that I couldn't believe the storyline in which such selfish pig who so cruelly used and gaslighted a woman over decades would so suddenly change.

But Cara, I needed her to be able to have enough self-respect and intellect to take some ACTION, use her brain, because he's SHOWN HER WHO HE IS AGAIN AND AGAIN -- I mean that's driven home quite clearly in this plot -- and she NEVER really DOES anything (even if she says and thinks a lot), or develops the fortitude to temper her responses, and uses the the sorry refrain "I can't help it" for EVERYTHING.

Why do I love Maggie Cole's books? Because she always writes the most amazing female characters and how these tough, strong, alpha males will do anything for them. Including change and work for forgiveness and a second (or in Gianni's case a fiftieth) chance. This story is an incredible love story between Gianni and Cara. It's about forgiveness, passion and being vulnerable to the person that means the most to you. Another captivating story.

***AUDIOBOOK***

4 stars

I really enjoyed this one. The narrators were great to listen to.

What I loved:
1. The steam was top notch, the diamond collar. DEAD.
2. I loved the hero. He had the right touch of possessiveness.
3. The heroine was likable. She tried hard to resist him, but she gave in a lot.
4. The suspense plot line and danger hanging over them was well done and kept me engaged.

What I needed more of:
1. I felt like a bit too much emphasis on the physical. I wanted a bit more of an emotional development between the H and h.
2. The heroine gave in. I wanted a bit more grit from her.

I’m definitely invested in this one and I can’t wait for the next brother’s book.

Forever means Forever

Maggie Cole is the author I turn to when I need mature characters in a dark romance who communicate but get freaky....sooooo tags I've stumbled across while reading

📿 forced marriage on a jet
📿 livht bandage
📿 collar (my girl gets diamonds 🤩) + leash
📿 edging
📿 finger bang bang in a restaurant
📿 forced (but not really because she likes it), submi$$ion
📿 Mafia
📿 no one touches my wife
📿 we need to get baby in you right away
📿 FMC with a grown-up job. Mature and study
📿 MMC, who is willing to put in the work to claim his girl's heart
📿grovel
📿second chance romance
📿smex wall

Gianni did a number on his girl and had no clue. Thinking he could waltz in and give her everything he ever promised, and she would just be grateful. Im not usually a fan of groveling, and I thought it went on a smidgen too long, but this book is top-tier A1 EPIC. The beginning with the FMC not giving an inch made me so mad. I went through all the emotions. I was frustrated, lustful, hopefully, elated, and then grateful. The journey this story takes you through. The characters are "older" 41 and 43, and they had history. The romance benefits from the close bonds and the well traveled road. This author has me loving things I usually don't. Watching this seasoned couple get it right and fall into trust, and then love....whew. Cara just had to get there, and it was worth it

The second installment of Mafia Wars NY is just as hot, if not hotter, than the first installment. Maggie Cole is a literary genius. Mafia Wars NY is everything you could want in a mafia series. If mafia men are this hot then sign me up. Gianni and Cara were always meant to be, he was just always afraid of that type of love. Cara has had her heart broken by Gianni too many times to count. When Cara's life is in danger Gianni does the only thing he can do, make her his! I went through a roller coaster of emotions reading this book. My heart was broken, I was elated, I was, dare I say, turned on! I'm waiting with bated breath for the next book!

Immoral by Maggie Cole was another amazing Mafia Wars book. It’s the 2nd book in the series. It’s Cara and Gianni’s story. To protect Cara, who is a very stubborn and independent woman, Gianni rescues her and has a very devious plan to make her his. He clearly forgot though about the past that they shared and underestimated how tough this would be. By the end you realize the substantial changes that both have gone through. It’s another thrilling rollercoaster ride that makes it impossible to walk away. I loved the book, but when Arianna was talking to Cara about what happened to her it broke my heart. To the ordinary reader it was just her telling her story again, but to someone who also suffers from the disease in real life, it’s clear that Arianna has PTSD. For me though it’s not necessarily a bad thing because it brought a more realistic feel to the characters. More than I’ve read about any other character. I loved though that it brought back the O’Malley and Ivanov families! That’s my favorite part about Maggie’s books is that it always goes full circle and we get a glimpse of where characters we previously met and currently at in their lives! I also love that we assumed we knew what type of person Gianni was and we were totally wrong. I hated him so much that I was skeptical about reading the book, but thankful that I have now! And in true fashion Maggie has us going insane waiting for the next book in the series!

The Marinos aren’t messing around!

Possessive, dominate, assertive, confident, protective and sentimental…..You are so not ready for Gianni Marino. From reading about him in the first book in this series, I had all of these expectations about him but I was beyond surprised, he has many, many layers.

Cara and Gianni are destined and as you read this book you will see they have been through heck and back just to get where they are today.

This story has all the mafia aspects that you have grown to love from a Maggie Cole book. This is a great love story that spans decades. The book is beautifully written. The author shows many sides to the characters.

Maggie Cole also writes about very strong and fearless females who create great friendships with the women around them. But they also know how to put their men in their place! I love that she writes about women in their late 30’s and 40’s because at least for me I can really relate more to them.

I could go on forever writing how great Maggie Cole’s books are but really you
should check them out for yourself and see why I hype her up so much! This is another one in an amazing new series that I highly recommend!

4.5⭐️

I absolutely loved Gianni and Cara's story. After 20 years of teetering around each other, playing games, and the back and forth, Cara is finally done with Gianni. Whenever he promised her this is it, he would run away again. Now Cara's back in New York and he's determined to keep her forever now. No games.

I can't describe how much I loved their story. The tension between them is so palpable though Cara is keeping her distance from Gianni as she doesn't want to trust him again only to have her heart broken. I loved that Cara really made him work for it and he doesn't give up telling her his feelings this time. He really gets vulnerable with her and I think it's what Cara deserves after what she went through. I read this in just one sitting, I loved it from the start till finish.

Immoral is the 2nd book in Maggie Cole’s Mafia War New York series. This book has you mesmerised from the get go and continues. I didn’t want it to finish. Gianni and Cara’s story tugs at the heartstrings. Gianni being a typical Italian male thought he could have it both ways until Cara had decided after over 20 years of heartache she was done. She then goes out with a man whom she thought she could trust but turns out she was set up by him to pay back Gianni and the Marino family. To save her Gianni must purchase her from a slave auction and marry her but the Abruzzi family no longer play by the rules. Can’t wait for the next instalment in this series.

This was smoking hot. Perhaps hotter than Toxic (Book One in this series) Gianni and Cara had a back and forth relationship spanning decades. Just as Cara once again believes she has her life on track and Gianni in her rearview, he is forced to rescue her and the only way in his mind to keep her safe is to marry him. Obviously. If you've read any of Ms. Cole's books before you know she brings it spice wise. There's plenty of emotions here and it nicely sets up book 3. I'm waiting for this series to grab me like the OG Mafia Wars did but I'm plenty enjoying it. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

If I had a collar and had Gianni Marino was holding my leash, I would be be in heaven.

Cara and Gianni had a on again and off again relationship since high school, it was heart wrenching reading on how Gianni would break Cara's heart each time they got back together. He rescued Cara and has made it to where they will be together forever.

This book has everything, the danger from another Mafia family, steam steam and more steam, and family drama which will make you have a WTF at the end!!

This is probably one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The fmc was just the most absurd doormat I couldn’t take it anymore. And don’t tell me a woman in her 40s is such a slave to her libido that she forgive 20+ years of cheating and asshole behavior because he “makes her melt.” Give me a fucking break. Cara and Gianni have been on again off again for 20+ years. Since high school Gianni would promise her the world, screw her for a few weeks then get “scared of his feelings” ditch her and screw his way through every woman in NY leaving her broken-hearted and destroyed. Repeat. Repeat. Now in their 40s Gianni magically decided he’s ready to settle down, kidnaps her, forces her to marry him and demands forgiveness for the last 20 years because “he’s always loved her” and “it’s always been her.” Oh my fucking God what the ever loving fuck????

It takes approximately 36 hours for Cara to get over her “rage” and “pain” and forgive him after he constantly demands she “forgive him and forget the past.”

This is basically the entire book:
Gianni: forgive me
Cara: no
Gianni: forgive me
Cara: ok I love you.

Apology? Grovel? What’s that??? Nothing Gianni does that’s for sure. Cara disgusted me with how weak she was that she allowed this man to walk all over her after everything he’s done to her over half her lifetime. But don’t worry! He never “technically” cheated so it’s all ok!

Fuck me sideways but why the fuck would a woman write a book like this advocating for a female character who takes it in the teeth from a womanizing bastard for her entire life??? Can we get some authors who write books about strong women who don’t let men walk all over them?? Is this too much to as for??

The rampant and blatant misogyny in romance novels is astounding. Gross.

"My ex bought me at an auction and forced me to marry him."

Whyy is this book so good!? Like i-cannot-put-it-down-even-if-you-point-a-gun-at-my-head good!! This is a must read for mafia romance lovers. Immoral by Maggie Cole just owned me instantly. The cruelest antihero. The sassiest heroine. The action. The suspense. The utter debauchery of passion and love. I am obsessed.

Gianni Marino has broken Cara Seranno's heart way too many times since high school. And she was finally done with him. But when she is abducted and put on an auction by her current boyfriend, Gianni buys her and forces her to marry him for her own security. Can he prove that he is not the man who hurt Cara? They are middle of a vicious mafia war. He has to protect Cara. And also her heart.

Something about an antihero redeeming himself gets me ridiculously excited. The worse his crimes are, the best the grovelling will be. And Gianni did it so well. He shows his ruthless and fearsome personality when it came to protecting his love and eliminating their enemies. His edgy brutal side also blends into his unusually soft side for Cara. I mean a cold hearted and dark mafia boss cannot really go completely sweet right but the mix was exhilarating. Nothing makes me happy more than a jealous possessive alpha hero being put on his knees by a fierce heroine. And Cara did exceptionally well at this job. She didn't really let him in easily. It was a trial by fire, blood and tears and Gianni passed with distinction. They have this angsty epic second chance romance and I loved every minute of it. The story did not ignore the action and drama of mafia life either and be ready to have a first row seat of how violent Gianni can be. The twists and turns were endless. And the passion was nuclear hot. They channelled their heartbreak and years of tension into the sex and it was freaking panty melting hotness. I will be back for this mafia world by Maggie Cole for sure.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

Poor Cara, she's been giving Gianni chance after chance after chance & she's finally 100% done with his push & pull act. She's moved on but unfortunately, she didn't pick the best dude to actually have a shot at happiness which is what landed her on an auction block. Gianni has been stalking her since she came back home despite his father & twin telling him to stop, so he knew what happened & bought her himself, and he forced her to marry him for her protection, which was the truth but he also thought he would finally have the women he never got over. He didn't count on her not giving him another chance and/or trusting him so he's got his work cut out for him, and he's not the most patient man around. On top of this very major complication, the horrible man who put Cara up on the block hasn't been caught so she's still in danger. These two were simply sizzling together, and while I was cheering Cara on for standing strong, I don't believe she made him suffer enough LOL! Maggie Cole is one of the best authors I've ever come across when it comes to suspense, so this book had it in spades as the twists were coming in hot with a huge kicker of heat, and angst in spades. I LOVED this story (no shock there), and I never wanted it to end. I promise you don't want to pass Immoral up as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Gianni.

What a specimen.

Cara.

What a babe.

First and foremost, I can totally see the twin features between Gianni and Dante. This book, even more than the last, made me want to read all the others books. Give me all the Irish, the Russians - all of it. I love the dynamic between all the male characters in these books, everyone from Tully to Killian, Massimo, Angelo, I love how it all comes together.

Side note: I’m super interested to read about Bridget’s kids…those two sound like trouble.

Back to this book, I love that Cara tried to fight Gianni because of all the garbage he put her through in the past, but ultimately her love for him won. Because that’s what happens in the real world, when the man of your dreams gives you your dreams - you grab with both hands. The best part of this book to me, was how generous Gianni is with his love and affection. He doesn’t mind doting on Cara and well…dote away my love.

This was a really fun series, can’t wait to read Massimo’s story….

A Story of Love and Forgiveness

The second book of the Mafia Wars New York did not disappoint. Gianni, the twin of Dante, has had an on and off again relationship with Cara and the last time they were together he got spooked and left. Cara has returned to NY after years and when Gianni sees her again he knows he needs her. Cara however is guarding her heart so she is not wrecked beyond repair this time. Gianni seizes the opportunity to make Cara his again and has to work to overcome his past actions. This book has all the feels! When you love someone you don't trust how do you forget the previous hurt to let them back in to your heart and life again?? Maggie Cole does such a wonderful job developing characters that you can identify and connect with. And I have always loved how she brings her next novel into the current so yiu ae always wanting more!

Gianni Marino and Cara Serrano have history they have know each other since they were teenagers, they have always had an intense attraction to each other, Gianni has broken Cara heart numerous times and despite this the attraction is still hot and steamy! Cara makes the mistake of getting mixed up with the wrong person that prompts Gianni to rescue her and then declare that she is his by marrying her. He needs to protect her from the men coming after her, the emotions are real and the passion between these two is electric I love reading Maggies’s books once I open the pages I’m hooked till the end, and I’m still trying to turn the pages for more when there’s no story left,
I’m absolutely loving the Mafia wars New York books so far! Hit that download button like right now!.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series, the story line was addictive and exciting, full of action, drama and intrigue. A Mafia romance that spends more time on the relationships between the main characters and their family and not too much on the going on in the Mafia scene. The characters were strong and likable, they had great chemistry and the sex was hot. All over this was a very enjoyable read.

This author just gets better, and if your wondering if Tullys sons are going to get their books in this series, I believe the answer is yes.

This is an exciting and thrilling read!! Gianni and Cara have been dancing around each other for years and Gianni has always been breaking Cara‘s heart. So she finally moves on to another man and he is the wrong one and puts her in danger. Will Gianni get over himself and let Cara in and go to her rescue? Will Cara let Gianni in risking her heart again?
