Watching six friends get slaughtered gives you nightmares.
Jake Jessup thought the nightmares were over, that the secret government program to weaponize animals was just a horrible memory, until a new breed of monsters shows up in Memphis, his hometown, and it was again time to fight.
After a raging mutant kills one cop and wounds another, Jake Jessup and April Flowers reunite to stop the monsters before they can kill again, and to confront the government organization that will go to any lengths to create the perfect biological weapon—and keep it a secret.
Any lengths at all...
Ready for a new kind of monster? Read PIT, because the murder rate in Memphis is about to go higher!
“Cujo on steroids!” says Larry Hoy, author of the “Hit World” thriller series.
Russ Tilton did a fantastic job on this book. The characters in this book are a great combination of ones you rooted for, as well as some you just couldn't wait for the genetically altered dogs to get a hold of. The plot just kept going and going. There never was a slow-down. I had a hard time finding a place to take a break. I look forward to more of this author's work. I recommend this book and give it 4.5 stars.
I've loved both books I've read by this author. This one started a little slow for me but I think I was just distracted. Really good character development and the plot is awesome. It keeps you hooked till the end. No boring filler like so many book have. Even though its fiction it is completely plausible that this could happen. I highly recommend it even if this isnt your typical kind of story. Now I'm off to see if he has more books available.
Excellent reading. This author Excellent in keeping you on the edge of your seat. I find myself staying up much later than planned to continue reading. Not reccomended for everyone because some parts are very gory. I can say l enjoyed this book very much and look forward to the next one in the series.
Would you like to meet a pit bull as big as a lion whose only job is to kill? PIT Industries is a well-established business, training Pit Bulls for people and businesses who want guard dogs. What is being developed in one section, however, is known only to the few people who worked in that section. The owner’s spoiled son, Frank, isn’t even aware of the special government project until his curiosity almost kills him. When Jake Jessup stumbles onto the project it brings back memories he would rather forget, then he sets out to fight the establishment for the second time.
Just the title and the cover are enough to give you chills, but the story will leave you shaken. Written in a way that puts you right in the throes of the action, it’s a page-turner that you’ll be thinking about for a long time. Especially when you find yourself in a dark place with unfamiliar sounds. Kudos to Russ Tilton for this thriller that made my hair stand on edge.
I like these stories, because there are two kinds of people in them. There are the people, who know that wrong is being done and want to stop it. The other people are wanting to do the wrong, but use the excuse that it is for the greater good. So who can tell which side is right that is left to you the reader. However I think the ones trying to stop this wrong are the people in the right. Also the bad guys may seem to win, but they don't really stop the good guys from still come at them. The two main characters are a good team and they want to see justice done and the genetic experiments ended. So good luck to Flowers and Jessup, hope you don't get eaten by the mutations in the next book.
This is the second book in the series. Like all the best such stories, I care about the characters as much as the plot. The main character has problems, and I will enjoy watching him work on them through more books.
As for the story, this one involves giant pitbulls, crooked cops, and dog fights, and introduces a new character that I liked very much. As in the first book, I'm not sure how accurate the science is, but it sounds plausible enough to make sense, and that's what matters.
The writing is good, the ideas are clever, and I'll soon be picking up #3 in the series.
Jake is back in Memphis, Tennessee. His ex wife, son, and her husband have moved to a new location, leaving Jake without a job in Memphis. This is the second novel in The Genetics Investigation Team series but is definitely a standalone novel. With the help of Special Agent April Flowers, Jake gets back into investigating unusual things and sightings in and around the Memphis area. Read this thrilling novel to find out what exactly is happening in Memphis, Tennessee.
Section 17 creates mutant animals for the good of the country
Good fast-paced action thriller with plenty of twists and turns.
Who are the good guys? Jessup and Flowers trying to shut down Pit City or Flattner and Dotson working to create a solution against the nation's enemies?
The problem is innocent people are dying when things get out of control. Section 17 has clean up the mess and shut down the process. But is it right?
The book is exciting and was hard to put down. I enjoyed reading the book.
Excellent book! I first saw the cover for this book when looking for books that involved animals that would make great B-rated horror movies. I knew that I would be reading it soon! However, I wanted to start the series at the beginning. That was the right choice! These books are what my nightmares are made of and I will be starting the next book immediately after writing this review.
Have you read the first book? If yes than congrats you've also read this one, just replace baboons with pit bulls.
Even down to the pacing it is the exact same. Boring exposition for a good half or the book only to rush through the climax as if the author was a high school student approaching the page\word limit on an essay.
But what makes me more upset was that this book killed off any interest I had in the series that grew with the fist only to recive the exact same story that I just read
Similar to the last book but the crime was more thought out and desperate. Frankie was a cold mother definitely, he and his father kind of deserved it. His father was just stupidly overlooking stuff. I didn’t think the big pits were as scary as the baboons but they also didn’t have the bacteria. The baboons were more tactical too. Interesting series so far with lots of action and good characters.
Another superb story involving Jessop and Agent Flowers- their paths cross again when another mutant animal is let loose accidentally and they try to gain evidence to stop the shady government dept from exploiting more animals.
The majority of the story is taken up but character development and story related threads, Pitbull action is a small (but gory!) part of the tale. Still enjoyable though.
I have read the first five in this series one after the other. I couldn't stop. I went to read other books after, but they seemed so mundane compared to this series. I have to stop myself from buying any more for a little while because I won't get anything else read!!! I can't recommend these enough. Be prepared to be (happily) hooked!!!
Not as action packed/survival horror as the last one
Pretty good overall. Author did a good job describing all the main and secondary characters so you know exactly who they are and what their motivations are. Not as much action as the last one but it was still entertaining. I'm interested to see what happens in the next book
This is a great series! I have enjoyed reading it so far and look forward to the next book. The characters are well developed and the action is off the charts. I can’t put it down until the last page.
...This is an excellent read. I like this author. Can't tell you all the examples I can give that put him ahead of the pack. Too many and too subtle. Just good solid writing with well thought out story lines. Moving on to book three now....
The book was awesome! Only one (1) editing error. Sorry, I am a bit over zealous about editing. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending was totally unexpected. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I am totally hooked on this series.
This will be my last book of his I read. Just like the others I've read, spelling errors galore. If you want to publish a book, have some pride in your work. If you don't know English, hire someone who does to check your work.
I love scary books and enjoyed this book as well as the others in this series. I especially like the reference to Memphis an Mckellar lake (I live on a house boat there
An outstanding series about black ops that genetically alter animals and weaponize them ... and the mayhem that ensues when some escape and civilian casualties mount....
Great series. I have enjoyed each story so far. Good character development and makes you think "the government could be doing this now"! I plan to read the rest of the series.
Similar to the first book in series except this time they are more aware of who the bad guys are. Borrowed with Kindle Unlimited. Read Kindle book using Alexa audio asset.
