I found this NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC publication to be a well-informed and even scholarly examination of the life of Jesus. It manages to incorporate both religious and historical views without coming down strongly on either side or, indeed, acknowledging that there has to be a conflict between the two. The illustrations and maps are particularly well done, as one might expect, given the background of the editors. My only regret is that there was no Bibliography at the end, because I would have liked some direction for further reading on the subject.
