K. L. Cottrell is a writer of romance. She loves turning daydreams, real-life experiences, and unexpected moments of inspiration into something she can use to bring both healing and entertainment to herself and others. She loves reading, has an addiction to music (and to her husband), is a child at heart, and could eat Tex-Mex every day of her life.
This book was so awesome. I literally read this 400 something book in 24 hours. I am so proud of myself and this book. This Read reminds me so much of Romeo and Juliet with Landon being Romeo and Liv being Juliet. How Landon and Liv officially met started out with him banging on a lot of people’s door to get some assistance due to the fact that he was choking; Liv recognized him from her peephole and she helped him. He was so beyond grateful that he ended up giving her a passionate kiss. Wow I wish I was Liv at that moment but come to find out that he was choking on 2 Jolly Ranchers and of course the way he was describing the whole scene of things was very much funny to me. Since that day, they hung out more and got to know each other better. He had no kids however she had guardianship over her niece who her mother abandoned her when she was a baby so Liv did the honorable thing and stepped up and took her and raised her like she was her own. Her name is Rae and she is such a ray of sunshine; I love that little girl to pieces. I can talk about this book all day long so I won’t give too much more away but I truly recommend this read to everyone who likes New Adult Romance. This was such an awesome read.

I have to admit, when authors approach me to review their work, I always get a little nervous. I never want to give a bad review. When K first approached me to review Feels Like Forever, I had that same gut-reaction; fear that I wouldn’t like the story, or that the writing might not be to my taste. And then when she warned me that there were some sensitive topics in the book, I held my breath. Boy, was I blown away. K, if you’re reading this, thank you.
The thing is, it’s almost impossible to write about the repercussions of trauma unless you’ve experienced it yourself. So many before have attempted to reach down into my soul to make me feel something for characters that have experienced abuse, but nothing has ever hit me as hard as this. There was so much truth in the way our author depicted the PTSD left behind in the wake of our heroine, Liv’s, trauma. I felt it in my core. I found myself going back to re-read parts of the book that I wanted ingrained in my memory. Cottrell is a natural talent - such detail and dedication went into this story. The writing is what truly blew me away. Impeccably crafted words and meticulously placed specifics that leave you knowing this author spent time in Liv and Landon’s world. This isn’t another cookie-cutter love story. There was no formula to this masterpiece, just pure, unaltered talent. Cottrell filled places in me I didn’t even know were empty. Liv’s niece (daughter), Rae, won me over from the moment I met her. She is the sweetest, most passionate and clever seven year old I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. She has such insight into the world; wise beyond her years, but still as innocent as ever.
This is genuinely a story about three amazing humans who learn how to live again through each other. The trauma in this book is off the charts, so please heed the warning. Liv experienced horrible things in her childhood and has real, lasting effects from it. What I couldn’t resist was our leading man, Landon, and his dedication to Liv’s recovery and Rae’s emotional needs. He is beyond amazing. There aren’t words to describe how incredible of a man he is. During this journey, he is dealing with his own loss and still puts forth every effort to love and cherish this woman and child as his own. GOD I LOVE HIM.
I will comment on one thing: this novel is much longer than most of the other novels I’ve read in this genre. If you aren’t someone who wants to dedicate more than a few hours to a story, this probably isn’t the book for you. It’s a real journey. I mean that in every sense. But goodness is it worth it. I can’t say it enough. This deserves a 5 star review and then some. Take a chance on this author, friends. You won’t regret it.
-! I received my copy from a giveaway that the author hosted on Facebook !- Please don't judge me for how long it took for me to read this; I moved and it was packed away and I just unpacked it today and decided I wanted to start the year fresh but polishing it off. That being said - this book is fantastic. There's a lot of complex relationships in this book that make it unlike any romance I've read in the past year. It touches on a lot of interesting points, such as being raised by someone other than your actual parents, abuse, neglect, sickness, etc. I'm having a hard time putting into words how well K.L. Cottrell integrated all of that into the book. Nothing was over the top - it all felt very real. By the end, everything was tied together really nicely. Not every point was addressed by the end, but in a way, that's preferred. It didn't leave me hanging and it felt right. Thank you for writing this K.L. Cottrell. And thank you so much for giving me a copy.
Wow! I am totally blown away by this book. This was a new to me author, and man did she bring it in this book! Be aware there could be triggers for some people. This is the story of Liv, Landon, and Rae. The characters are so great! The story is amazing. Liv has had a rough childhood and upbringing. Now on her own she only wants a better life for her niece that she is raising, Rae. Being a single parent is difficult. Landon is going through his own trials with his life. He has a good for nothing girlfriend. His grandmother is in a home. So what can happen next?? Where do jolly ranchers fit into this mix you ask?? Read this amazing book and find out!
This book sucker punched me right in the feels. Cottrell is an absolute master at bringing you into the characters' heads through thoughts and emotions, making you fall in love with them so deeply, so completely, that every triumph has you cheering and every sorrow brings you to tears. This was one of her longer books but I could have read a hundred pages more of Landon and Liv's story. A truly heartbreaking and beautiful tale of broken people who learn to walk the healing path together. This is romance at its finest.
Oh my!!! this was a great book. Liv has been through a lot in her lifetime. she is raising her neice. she's trying to give her the best life she can. one night she meets Landon and they become friends but later on sparks fly between them but can Liv move on from her past?
This book broke me and I want to hug the characters so badly to tell them it’s okay.
TW: mentions of abusive childhood, drug addict mother, FMC SA as a child (mentioned), MMC’s grandmother has Alzheimer’s, death of a loved one, child deformity (FMC’s niece has stunted fingers due to a drug addict mother), abandonment of parents (mentioned)
Liv-Andria would do anything to protect her niece, Rae, even if it means denying her own feelings. Her past was traumatic and she won’t let history repeat herself. The only way that can happen is if it’s her and Rae against the world.
Landon is struggling as his grandmother is growing ill. A near death experience helps him re-prioritize his life. He can’t stop thinking about the girl who saved him.
This romance is a slow burn but so worth the build up. High praise for this book because it gave me the FEELS...not an easy thing to do.
I love the friendship that was built on the hardships of their pasts and their current struggles. They supported each other and built a strong, friendly foundation.
The trauma was spot on. I know this is a weird thing to say but I’m a trauma counselor and one of my pet peeves in books is unrealistic trauma reactions. The author wrote such believable characters which drew me in further to the story.
It’s a very long novel, and I loved that. I read so fast this one actually took me a couple days.
I absolutely fell in love with this book. I'm more of a paranormal romance girl, but KL can do no wrong when she writes. She does such an amazing job with developing her characters so much so that you actually feel like you know them and can actually feel what they are feeling. The story between Liv-Andrea and Landon is an inspiring love story that isn't too good to be true like you tend to find in so many books. I loved going on this journey with them 😁
Distractions really are bad things, but we aren’t distractions to each other, we’re complements. We’re the kind of match that makes things perfect, not the kind that burns things down. This is such a cute book!!! I was so anxious that something cringe gonna happen soon and will ruin the book for me😭 But nothing of that sort happened and I'm so relieved! It was not what I was expecting. I thought it'll be like any small town romantic suspense book but as soon as I started I realized that it's not. It's emotion heavy and thoughtful romance. If you like romance with realistic depth and little bit of fluff it's for you. The characters are strong and not a macho asshole mmc🤌 which is a delight for me cause I'm a sucker for cinnamon roll hero who's not afraid to smile a little. Rae is such an amazing precious little kid. And Liv is a very strong character on her own way. She carries herself amazingly and knows what she wants. Their bond is amazing and well developed. But if you can't handle fmc who's actually driven by trauma and doesn't give in and mmc who's not a traditional alpha you wouldn't like it. You just go through their lives no suspense or any mystery which I was expecting and it's very rare I enjoy something I'm not prepared for. Yes I admit it could have been a lil bit shorter they kinda dragged after they get involved and stretched the epilogue but that's the fluff part and they barely manged to not enter the cheesy territory. And I also thought liv's family condition would have gotten a better closure but it wasn't bad either. It was well written but I don't know why my mind is not wanting to give it a full score. It's been a long time I've enjoyed a book I forgot what my 5star entails. 4.5⭐

This could've been about 200 pages shorter. It was painfully SLOW. Too much unnecessary dialog & just a lot of ordinary mundane happenings were drawn out in great detail. The writing was subpar & the plot was....meh. Nothing jaw dropping or particularly significant happened in the entire book. There was nothing exciting drawing me in, keeping me reading, wanting more. I almost dnf'd several times (and I probably SHOULD HAVE) but I'm no quitter. Although this book touched on some hard topics & had some tender moments, they were just that. Nothing was enthtalling or spectacular from the writing style, character development or the entire storyline for that matter. This book, it just wasn't it for me.
