Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
Alleati? Vedremo. Intanto nella scacchiera le pedine si muovono. Siamo forse alla partenza del conflitto finale o forse c'è ancora molto da scoprire in questo mondo. Mannaggia invece ai problemi con le amicizie.
Kirikou and Ox are such awesome friends I can't even handle it. They play off of each other so well and even though the bicker, they clearly have each other's backs. Such a fucking underrated friendship, I can't fucking even.
Medusa continues to be the best villain in the series, to the shock and amazement of absolutely no one. Meanwhile Arachne continues to be the most uninteresting villain in the series, to the shock and amazement of absolutely no one.
Okay, am I the only one who is slightly terrified of how the moral manipulation machine works? As in, what it physically and psychologically does to its victims? I'm not sure if readers will ever seen it in use, but the fact that Kim and Jackelyn's experience with it was off-screened scares me even more.
I love the fact that even with everyone being on edge with witches after Medusa's attack on the DWMA, the teachers, Lord Death, and the students were perfectly willing to hear Kim and Jackelyn's sides of the story. Once again, it shows how, despite all of the damage witches have done, most of the folks at DWMA are willing to look past this and focus more on who they are as people.
Anyways, this was a great volume, loved every second of it.
Aside from the battle at the beginning, the beginning portion of this edition was really boring. It was so boring I was worried that this would be the first Soul Eater Perfect Edition volume that I’d rate 3 stars, but fortunately, things get pretty interesting once a surprise person comes back to seemingly ally themselves with the DWMA. Their request was pretty interesting, and seeing the way how things are playing out in this mission so far have been good. The last bit was so good that it boosted my rating for this edition up by a star, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
