A small town cake decorator, a famous chef, and a cake competition where nothing is easy.
I had one goal when I left my house Thursday night – win the wedding cake competition at the Atlanta Wedding Expo. It didn’t matter that I hated competition or being the center of attention. With the help of my best friend Martha I wrote a to-do list that would help me stay on track and keep my panic attacks at bay.
My To-Do List - Make it through the competition without a panic attack - Win the competition - Get the bakery’s logo on Food Network so my boss will die a happy woman - Get home and hide in my house for a week - Use the prize money to buy a new mixer for the bakery Not on my To-Do List - Meet the hottest man alive, who just happens to be the judge - Get involved in a messy love triangle - Get disqualified for reasons out of my control - Get stalked by a blond psycho
Frankie is the fourth novel in the Love In Somerset Series by Shelly Ferguson. If you are in the mood for a sassy woman with great friends who finds her happily ever after, this book is for you.
Who wouldn't love a book with a baking competition, a snarky heroine, an load of misunderstandings, and an evil not-even-an-ex? Frankie is quite the wild ride, and fits in with her sister books in the Somerset series perfectly. I can't wait to see what else Shelly has in-store for these lovely ladies.
A FOX SHIFTER?!?!?! As someone who has read EVRY SINGLE BOOK written by my dearest Shelly I ADORE THIS!!!!!!!!! As much as I love a nice burly strong man, having a not 100% alpha badass sly, sexy, Fox shifter is AMAZING! What a wonderful change of pace to get usual males. Also HE COOKS?!?! 1000000000000000000/10 a great time please read!
While this was still very cute (I loved Philip telling Frankie their story like a fairy tale) it just felt much less developed and more rushed than the first 3 books. The shorter length really did not do it any favors. I didn't bond with Frankie or Phillip so their HEA was pretty meh for me. There were some minor editing/continuity errors and there was some random shifter lore thrown in that was a little confusing and unmentioned in earlier books. I had to read some sections once or twice to understand who was talking or what was happening. I also really really hate to say it but I was disappointed that the author decided to make this book the first with full sex scenes. I'm definitely not against sex scenes it was just surprising considering the other books only contain off page sex. Overall this was still a quick fun read and I will definitely read the rest of the series. However I'm thinking only the first 3 will end up on my reread list.

Frankie has quite the story to go through and plenty to keep a gal entertained. Many a funny or swoony moment with plenty of friends from town joining in. A great addition to the series.
