Short smutty f/f paranormal romance about a girl who moves back to her hometown and falls for a hot butch werewolf. Ellie's got a bit of a chip on her shoulder, some issues with anger, and Max helps her work them out. More erotica than anything, which was just what I was in the mood for, so, nice. But I did expect that the paranormal aspects would come into play more prominently/earlier than they did. The little plot there is is very thin, and I didn't really like the resolution? (Max's strap game is good, but good enough to turn down a job offer in the city you supposedly love, after having almost zero time to think about it? Aight...)

But I mean, I don't want to take this too seriously; it's a smutty novella! And I did love their dynamic and banter, how Max represented just the kind of control Ellie wanted. It only barely feels like a paranormal romance, but when those aspects did come into play, it was great. A fun, quick read; exactly what it says on the tin. It was hot and I had a good time.

My rating is low as I didn't love it but I didn't hate it, either. I was drawn in by the cover and title and quickly dove in this shapeshifting erotica. I think my hopes were too high because the writing sorely let me down. Quite amateurish, I'm afraid. Also protag Ellie drove me up the wall. Even in the end, I thought there would be some kind of redeeming quality in her, but nope. She was a brat who threw temper tantrums and was rather rude. Max was a sexy beast, literally, and other than bedding the bratty slut, I honestly didn't see what Max saw in her. The sex was hot, the descriptions were downright filthy, but other than that, I was not a happy reader. I may not have been the right audience for this one.

I enjoyed the interaction between the characters.

There is a small portion I did not like. How is Max recognized in her wolf form?

One second Ellie is punching a guy, the next a wolf tears said guy and causes chaos.

Then, instead of being fearful, Ellie suddenly realises the wolf is Max.
I love fantasy and fiction, but irrationally?Not so much. It would have been plausible had Ellie known about supernatural beings or grew up in a town that is surrounded by one.

But none of the supers are familiar but somehow,(well I guess since they are implied mates) she realises the wolf's eyes are brown....that won't matter when you're bleeding paralyzed on the fu*king ground.

That part felt forced.

I liked the bar fight. It was a bit like flirting. Where lovers pillow fight that hurts afterwards.
