4.5 Blood Debt Stars

After losing his memory Liam craves the only thing he has ever wanted back - her!
To get the full effect of his feelings and everything the two of them have been through I would recommend reading The Wedding Debt and The Marriage Debt first, but this can be read as a standalone if you choose to do so.

I loved Liam De Vos when we first met him, and now here we are years later after a car accident left him without a memory of who he is and I have to say I like this version of Liam as well...and it's so very different from who he was before.

Jasmine Baas was groomed to take over the family business or at least that is what we believed but when everything comes out, my goodness it's truly heartbreaking. She would do absolutely anything and everything to protect her younger sister Jill from a life that she didn't want, even if that meant giving up on her own dreams.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Liam and Jas. They may have had a messed up way of coming together but now that they are, they are right where they belong.

This book is dark, which means there are themes that may bother some so before you purchase it please check out the author's website for a full list of trigger and content warnings ➡ https://www.clarissawild.com/the-bloo...

I would recommend this book to those that enjoy Steamy Dark Romances or Organized Crime Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

Luca's and Jill's story was way better than this one, honestly i had my hopes up for this one but...it felt a little..forced :(
Their connection it's not strong even if they were close as kids...it's none of that amazing attraction Luca and jill had you know? they are just OK together and honestly most of the times i couldn't connect with Jasmine, she was annoying .
I didn't feel that chemistry i needed...and hoped for.
Barely 3 stars.

EXCERPT:

“You think I want to hurt you, don’t you?”

I nod a few times, pushing myself as far as I can into the wall so the blade doesn’t cut into me. But I can’t stop the whimper from leaving my mouth.

A wicked smile forms on his face, one I wish I could smack off, but I don’t have the guts. And my eyes can’t help travel down his ripped pecs and abs to his tight jeans, which barely fit his muscular body.

Fuck.

I immediately turn my head, forcing myself to look elsewhere.

Big mistake.

Because he takes it as an invitation to lean in even closer, practically smelling my skin. Goose bumps erupt on every inch of my skin.

“I could …” he murmurs into my ear, the blade sliding down my chest, pointing at my heart. “If you don’t behave.”

His hand suddenly curls around my throat. I gasp for air as he squeezes, holding me tight while gazing at me with full intent on letting me know who’s in charge. “For a girl who didn’t want to be trapped, you sure as hell stumbled into my grasp quite easily.”

“Please,” I mutter, but it comes out in a short gasp.

“Please, what?” he muses, tilting his head.

He’s smiling at my inability to breathe. Asshole.

When his thumbs release slightly, I suck in the greedy gulps of air. He looks so deep into my eyes that it’s hard to look away. But I have to force myself to focus and remind myself why I’m here. What I’m trying to protect.

And when I part my lips, my voice signs my soul away. “I’ll do anything.”

The left side of his lip quirks up into a filthy smile. “I won’t let you take that back, little devil.”

Devil? Who? Me?

But before I can process what he just called me, the knife slips farther down my chest, and…

RIP!

All the buttons of my top fly away as the fabric parts, leaving only a bra between him and my naked skin.

His hand leaves my throat, but I still can’t breathe.

Because it moves down my neck all the way to my chest, along with his greedy eyes, and my cheeks flush red from the idea of him looking at me like that.

“My memories aren’t what they used to be, but I do remember looking,” he murmurs, his hand traveling down across my breasts. I shudder in place as my nipples grow taut under his touch. “Wondering what it would feel like.”

Liam & Jasmine’s Dark Enemies-To-Lovers Romance Is A Story Of Captivity & Revenge! Jasmine’s Captivity Is Partly Voluntary, But It Doesn’t Take Away From What Liam Puts Her Through. He Does Not Want His Old Life Back, But He Has No Intention Of Giving Her Up. Their Story Also Sheds New Light On Luca & Jill’s Story.

ABOUT THIS BOOK:

This book is an interconnected standalone. Here Luca’s older brother and Jill’s older sister finally get their story. It is the much-awaited romance of Liam De Vos and Jasmine Baas. It follows The Wedding Debt and The Marriage Debt, which together tell Luca De Vos and Jill Baas’s story about growing up and finding love in a mafia family. This story is set up in the earlier books. While reading the earlier two books is strongly recommended, it is not necessary.

The Marriage Debt may be read as a standalone, but it is preceded by The Wedding Debt, which is considered an optional prequel. The Marriage Debt picks up where The Wedding Debt leaves off, but bits and pieces of the prequel are woven into the next book via flashbacks. The most relevant bits and pieces from The Wedding Debt are thus included in The Marriage Debt.

That said, I was drawn into Luca and Jill’s story in the first book, and I happen to think that was the better of the two. The first book is dense with the story of their families, most of which doesn’t make it into the second book. My overall review of the second book is thus influenced by having read the prequel; those that skip the prequel may have a different perception of The Marriage Debt. It may also impact the reading of this book. There is a very strong foundation for Liam and Jasmine’s story within the earlier two books. Much is missed without having read them.

For those that have not read the earlier books or who might need a refresher, I have included a brief summary in order to help give context.

FROM THE WEDDING DEBT:

This story primarily takes place in the Netherlands. It opens when Luca and Jill are nine years old.

Hugo and Vera Baas are powerful mafia figures, and they got there through careful planning and control. They have no sons, so their empire must pass on to their daughters, Jasmine and Jill. The girls are close friends. Jasmine is a few years older than Jill, and she is the only one that shows an interest in the family business. Both girls are introduced to it, but Jill is more interested in escaping the ugly life that she was born into. She is sweet and kind to all around her, very unlike the dark mafia world she lives in. She lives a protected life and spends her time making her own clothes so her wardrobe is rather original. The girls have known since they were young that their father would decide who they would one day marry, though that day always seemed too far off for it to feel like reality.

Lex and Anne De Vos are the head of another mafia family. They have two sons, Liam and Luca, who are the same ages as the Baas girls. The parents have plans for their sons, so the ideas of freedom and choice are a luxury unavailable to them. Liam is the apple of their eyes. He stays out of trouble at school and keeps a low profile as instructed. As the eldest, the business will pass on to him, although he dreams of traveling before assuming his place as head of the family. Luca knows he doesn’t measure up to his perfect brother, and although the brothers love one another, Luca’s sense of not measuring up only pushes him to get into more trouble. Luca doesn’t care about happiness because he knows he can never have it. Instead, he turns his attention to money and girls. He is not perfect, so he doesn’t bother trying. Liam would always be the preferred son, the one to go on to inherit the kingdom. Luca is just a backup plan and nothing else.

The Baas and the De Vos families have run in the same circles for years, and the parents get together from time to time. The De Vos family moved to the Netherlands about four years ago. Recently the Baas family became new trading partners with those at The Ruin and moved to the Netherlands as well. For years, the parents have been in talks about a marriage joining their families, and they might just be getting close to making a decision.

Jill has always hated Luca, whose incessant teasing drove her wild as a child. His talent at angering her only grew over the years, and she could never understand what he had against her. It was Liam that she dreamed of marrying, and even though she knew Jasmine would probably get that privilege, she could still hold out hope. Luca has only ever wanted one thing, but it is the one thing that he can never have. He knows that he doesn’t have a choice about his future. He knows he must go along with whatever decisions his parents make, and it only makes him lash out more. Luca and Jill grow up in a dangerous world, and their parents aren’t afraid to use force to teach them lessons. They live a life of privilege, but it comes with a price. Their romance is mostly rocky and ends here in a cliffhanger. Book two, The Marriage Debt, is the sequel.

Luca and Jill’s story starts out rather innocently when they are nine years old, and it is hard to put the book down once you get wrapped up in their story. His teasing and her complaining are darling to read about. Luca was raised in Liam’s shadow, a fact that his parents never let him forget. To protect himself, he pushed away what he wanted most of all and turned to material and physical pleasure instead. He doesn’t want to feel the loss and disappointment, so he descends into darkness. Jill’s kindness stands in stark contrast to his often cruel behavior. It must be her upbringing, though, because despite her very ladylike behavior, she certainly knows how to stand up for herself when the occasion calls.

One issue merits mention. The children’s ages are a bit funky because things just don’t add up in a few respects. First, when Jill and Luca are eighteen, Jasmine and Liam are a few years older, so maybe twenty. At eighteen, Jill has one more year before graduation, yet she and Jasmine are enrolled together in Liam and Luca’s school. Hence Liam and Jasmine should obviously have already graduated. Also, the school feels like high school, but at twenty Liam and Jasmine should not be in high school, and even Luca and Jill are on the old side for high school. The schooling is never clarified, and in the end, it feels like it is conveniently put in the past.

Luca and Jill’s enemies-to-lovers mafia romance starts out with a bang in this quick read about arranged marriages and sibling rivalry. With their decisions made for them, the Baas and De Vos children are certain to be bitterly disappointed. This is an exciting read that will have you grabbing for the sequel. The story is nicely written. The plot is somewhat simple. The characters are complex and layered. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Luca and Jill. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

FROM THE MARRIAGE DEBT:

This book opens in The Netherlands when Luca and Jill are twenty-one. Tensions between the De Vos and Baas families remain high since the tragedy that took place three years ago.

As The Wedding Debt came to a close, Luca had been crushed to learn from Liam that their parents had chosen Jill, not her older sister Jasmine, to be his older brother’s bride. In desperation, he went to Jill, but that dark stormy night proved to be fateful. He kissed her – their first kiss – before telling her the news that had destroyed him. He left. She then went to Liam, the boy she had crushed on for so many years.

Luca had learned over the years that it didn’t matter what he did because Liam would always be best in their parents’ eyes. And since he could never choose his own future, and he could never have Jill, he did almost anything else he could to distract himself from his obsession with the sweet and sassy beauty. Luca chose a dark path. He embraced vice and violence. Inwardly, he was obsessed with Jill, but he hated her for making him want her.

Jill had been surprised and enlightened by the kiss that Luca stole from her. Liam had always been more interested in Jasmine, but Jill hoped all along that he might eventually learn to love her. She was confused, but she needed to discuss the news of their impending nuptials with Liam. Luca returned home and discovered the two, assuming the worst. Liam had known how Luca felt about Jill, despite outer appearances otherwise. Enraged by the betrayal, and a little under the influence, Luca turned violent. Liam was happy to fight it out, but Jill managed to pull him away to safety. Their safety was short-lived, though. They left the De Vos house together in the midst of the raging storm and ended up at the bottom of a river when lightning struck. Despite her best efforts, Jill was unable to free Liam from the sunken car and barely escaped death herself. Liam’s body was never found.

Liam’s death led to a huge falling out between the families. Blamed for the death, Jill became the debt owed to the De Vos family for the death of their son. She was now to marry Luca in satisfaction of the debt, but with her parents as well as the De Vos family angry with her, she was fearful. Luca’s behavior toward her was every bit as terrifying. Jill managed to escape, and Luca vowed he would find her.

That was when she and Luca were eighteen. Jill had hidden under the protection of a family friend, Easton Van Buren, for three years. But when she saw the announcement of Luca’s upcoming wedding to her sister, Jasmine, she knew she could not continue hiding away from her responsibility to her family. Her love for her sister led her to the church, where she asked Luca to marry her instead. She would not have Jasmine pay the price for her mistake because Luca was a monster.

As this story opens, Jill has come face-to-face with her family and the De Vos family for the first time in three years. She doesn’t get the reception she had expected, but then again, she didn’t expect much. Despite Jill’s choice to return, she is determined to keep certain things off-limits from her new husband. Her innocence and her heart are her most guarded secrets, but he wants her to hand both of them over to him. He wants everything from her in payment for what she did to his family. She hates him, but her feistiness has only ever made him want her more. The two go back and forth in much the same fashion as all their childhood interactions. He insults and demeans her, while she stands up to him in a way nobody else would ever dare.

Jill is blind to the reality of her circumstances. In situations not involving Luca, she is generally a positive person. Miraculously, her innocence was not completely destroyed by the mafia family in which she had been raised. That perhaps explains why she is slow to see that her family has in essence disowned her. Luca is her defender in disguise, but she treats him like her biggest enemy. He, of course, gives her plenty of reasons not to trust him. And in return, she behaves like a spoiled princess.

Luca and Jill have years of pent-up frustration fueling them on as they learn to live with one another as husband and wife. Their battles with one another, however, aren’t the only obstacles they face. Luca must manage the family business while battling his wayward wife at home. As his father hands over responsibility, the demands on him increase as well. Jill’s past intrudes upon the couple as well, adding to their problems. The danger forces them to put aside some of their hostilities, but that is not the end of their story. There are twists and turns that take them on a dark and violent ride as well as some surprises along the way.

There are a few issues that merit mention. There are some inconsistencies that make it a little confusing at times. Additionally, some of the timing doesn’t feel right. There is a point at which Jill makes a false confession that will certainly lead to trouble. If she were not raised in a mafia family, it might have been realistic. Here, however, it felt off. Jill should have known just how much trouble her statement could create. Finally, both Luca and Jill have wavering feelings that eventually begin to drag.

Luca and Jill’s enemies-to-lovers mafia romance starts out with a bang in this angsty read about arranged marriages and sibling rivalry. Luca had been shaped by his near life-long obsession with Jill and the life he was born into. He, like Jill, knew his future would be dictated by his parents. Liam got everything that Luca wanted – his parents’ praise and attention, the family business, and the girl of his dreams. It had never mattered how much he wanted Jill, she would never be his once her marriage with Liam had been decided upon. He hated her for that, and in his jaded state of mind, he became a monster in her eyes. Jill had always been drawn to the more respectable and behaved Liam, the older brother. But it was always Luca that riled her up, and it was Luca’s kiss that her body craved. They are so set upon hating one another that their HEA seems unattainable. This story is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are complex and layered. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Luca and Jill. I rate this book four stars.

IN THIS BOOK:

This book opens in The Netherlands as Liam attempts to get his revenge on Jill.

Liam De Vos, twenty-three, has lived a quiet life in a remote German cabin for going on three years now. He remembered almost nothing from his life before being rescued from a river three years ago. At that time he only had a vague sense of danger and the need to run. He likes living on his own and enjoyed a quiet life until his brother Luca tracked him down. That was when vague memories and the need for revenge turned him into a monster. Revenge against Jill was not enough for him, though. He wants more. He wants what should have been his, the girl he expected to marry and the only one he had ever truly craved. He had had many girls in his youth, but there was only ever one that was out of his reach: Jill Baas. No matter how long it took, he would make her crave him, too.

Jasmine Baas, twenty-three, has always done the right thing for other people, and in the end, it cost her. She had always understood that her parents would use her in an advantageous marriage and that she had no choice in the matter. It didn’t prevent her from hoping that her marriage might be to Liam even if she acted otherwise to protect herself from potential heartbreak. She had done everything to ensure that she was the best choice, but in the end, she had proven herself too indispensable to be handed over to the De Vos family. Liam’s death had been further heartbreak, and in the years that passed, she had given up on the ideas of dating and love. Liam’s surprising return three years later might have given her a glimmer of hope – especially now that Jill had married Luca – but there was nothing about the man he had become that resembled the well-mannered Liam of her dreams. This man was a monster. But Jill had sacrificed herself for Jasmine when she stepped forward to marry Luca, and now Jasmine would step forward to protect her sister from Liam’s wrath. She follows him to his cabin in Germany, but she is hardly prepared for the plans he has in store for her.

Liam and Jasmine had been close at one time, but as they began to understand their family responsibilities, their friendship had suffered. They each held their feelings for the other at bay but secretly hoped to be matched by their parents. With only glimpses of his past, Liam hardly resembles the young man that Jasmine had longed for. To her surprise, the monster version of Liam excites her (when she isn’t terrified of him). Liam is confused as some of his memory returns, and sorting out his feelings is complicated, to say the least. Jasmine is committed to staying with Liam to keep him from learning that Luca and Jill survived, but she questions her resolve. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.

Watch for another interconnected standalone to follow. An excerpt of The Beast is included at the back of the book. It is the story of the beast that Mr. De Vos keeps locked in his dungeon – a man that he abuses and treats like an animal and is used as a deadly weapon.

Liam and Jasmine’s dark enemies-to-lovers romance is a story of captivity and revenge. Jasmine’s captivity is partly voluntary, but it doesn’t take away from what Liam puts her through. He does not want his old life back, but he has no intention of giving her up. Their story also sheds new light on Luca and Jill’s story. Liam’s memory issues are sometimes confusing, as he often seems to remember more than he purportedly does. Even taking into account the return of more memories over time, it is hard to follow. He also wavers between being a monster and his old self, and the shift does not always feel natural. It is also never explained how he makes a living. He seems to do nothing, yet he has money and owns a cabin in the woods. The plot is fairly simple. The characters each have deep issues to deal with while under stressful conditions. There are a few surprises along the way. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Liam and Jasmine. I rate this book 3.5 stars.

What to Expect:
- Dark Romance
- Mafia Romance
- Enemies to Lovers
- Second Chance

The Blood Debt is the third book in this series. Although it can be read/listened to as a standalone, it is best to enjoy these stories in order to better understand the sequence of events. Liam De Vos, scarred by an accident that erased almost all of his memories, remembers only his need for Jasmine Bass. Obsessed and vengeful, Liam plots to claim Jasmine as his own. Although Liam has loved Jasmine for a long time, Jasmine does not share those feelings. Aware of the danger being near Liam poses, she sacrifices her safety to protect her sister, Jill.

Jasmine finds Liam and confronts him, intending to harm him. What she doesn't expect is for him to become her captor. Liam and Jasmine's story is dark, twisty, and deliciously steamy. Their relationship evolves amid secrecy, family feuds, manipulation, revenge, intense emotions, and forbidden love. As they are forced to spend time together, Jasmine uncovers the demons that haunt Liam. The more she learns of his solitude, and what he has endured, the more she falls for him. Despite how they got together, I enjoyed Liam and Jasmine's chemistry. After being left with unanswered questions from the previous book, things were wrapped up nicely in this story.

Narration:
The audiobook is performed in duet by Ehlen Valentine and Grayson Owens. This was a fun, immersive experience, with sound effects and all. Ehlen and Grayson did a great job portraying the characters. They brought the story to life and made me feel all the emotions Liam and Jasmine's story elicited. They were the perfect duo for this story, and their performances elevated my listening experience.

Thanks to Clarissa Wild and Sparks Fly Studios for the gifted audiobook. Opinions expressed are my own.

The Blood Debt by Clarissa Wild is book 2 in the Debts and Vengeance series. I would suggest reading The Marriage Debt first to understand the bigger picture, but it would still be enjoyable if read as a standalone. Already being a fan of Clarissa’s writing, I wasn’t disappointed with The Blood Debt. A dark mafia romance with the perfect amount of spice and the well-written twists and turns that Clarissa is known for.

After a life-changing accident, Liam is left without his memories but still manages to hang onto his need for Jasmine. Jasmine keeps her feelings close to her chest, accepting that her role in the family supersedes her wants and needs. After years apart and Liam’s need for revenge, Jasmine finds herself in the clutches of a changed Liam. Please check trigger warnings and enjoy your vegetables!

The audiobook is performed in duet by Ehlen Valentine and Grayson Owens. Ehlen’s portrayal of Jasmine was flawless. I love her ability to pull me into the emotions of the characters. She has great range, and I find her so easy to listen to. Grayson nailed his performance of the dark and yet sweet Liam. His character differentiation and accents are always on point. Both Ehlen and Grayson started off this audiobook strong with their children’s voices. Super cute. The sound effects were the icing on the cake.

I’d like to thank Sparks Fly Studios for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Liam De Vos wants revenge on the Baas family for what they did years ago. Waiting, he plans the perfect moment to lure Jasmine Baas and make her his. Going from present to past helps you get more understanding of the feud between these families who’s story began in The Marriage Debt. This can be read is a stand-alone since it does have flashbacks however, as it revolves around the same Da Vos/Baas family I would suggest checking that book out also to get their sibling’s story. A captive, second chance romance with some darker themes. Told in dual POV

After reading and loving Marriage Debt I couldn’t wait for this book about Luca and Jill. This book is similar as the Debts and Vengence series suggest but it kept me reading through the night. This book is about Liam and Jasmine and we do get a bit more

Audiobook Review:

First things first - this is a Clarissa Wild book - this story is dark and has TWs so be mindful of those

Liam and Jason had this amazing chemistry and tension. The two narrators did a great job bringing this story and these characters to life! Yes this book is dark and steamy and also emotional - we really feel those emotions in these two characters. I loved Ehlen’s version of Jasmine and we really feel her emotions. Grayson is an amazing narrator and I loved how we get to see these different sides to Liam.

If you love dark romances and are ok with the TWs, I would give this audiobook a read!

✨What to Expect:

🥀Mafia/Organized Crime Romance

It might have helped if I had read the Marriage Debt first, but based on some of the reviews I read for that book, I'm not sure about this. In any case, the frequent flashbacks at the beginning left me a bit confused as to the timeline of the events of the book. It felt like there was no actual plot development in the first 25% of the book, which was really frustrating. Jasmine made a lot of really stupid choices, so much so that I doubted her ability to be a strong leader (which, if she was to take over as head of the 'family business' like she apparently wanted to do, she would need to be). Does she even have basic survival instincts? Is she really that sheltered and naive? I also questioned some of the details of the plot. Finally, there was so much familial drama at the end I couldn't help but wonder what Dr. Phil would have to say about it.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.5-3.75 ⭐️

I knew from the glimpses of Liam and Jasmine we got in the last book that once they got their turn, it was going to be one heck of a story. The premise of the book was promising. I liked the characters, flaws and all. I just felt their connection was lacking. I think it may have worked better if we got some more meaningful flashback scenes. The audiobook was narrated wonderfully. Overall this was an enjoyable series.

BORINGGGG!

All I have to say is this book was so boring I’m honestly disappointed, I thought this book would be better than the first book but boy was I wrong. This shouldn’t of even been a book in my opinion It was a waste of time everything that happened in this book could’ve happed in the first.
The first book which was about Jill and Luca and it was honestly 100% better than this, in the first book it had plot, spice, it was dark romance. This book was about Jasmine and Liam, I honestly didn’t see much of the plot it was all romance and spice and just not a good book in general.

And a debt worth claiming

A freak and unfortunately accident cost him his memories, memories of a life he was trying to escape. His memories of a girl with blonde hair and hazel eyes haunts him when he’s awake or asleep, of promises made in blood, promises Liam intends to keep, a blood debt he intends to claim in the form of Jasmine, all for the sake of vengeance.

Jasmine is shocked to see Liam, but she knows the threat that looms, leaving the safety behind of all she knows, her family, she makes the unwilling sacrifice to save her sister Jill.

When Jasmine finds Liam, she came with the intention of hurting him, only to fail in her task. Liam has Jasmine right where he wants her and has no intention of letting her go.

During her captivity, she begins to learn about Liam, the demons that haunt his mind, what he endured in the last three years, the life that he has chosen to live, his solitude the only peace he’s known.

When Liam learns that Jill is alive, Jasmine makes the ultimate sacrifice, finally giving Liam the submission he craves from her, only when he learns that her virtue is still intact, he claims her mind and body in the most carnal and sensual of ways giving her pain and pleasure like she’s never experienced before.

And when truths are spoken, secrets exposed, and betrayals forgiven, it’s in these pivotal moments that family is who you turn to, to help you make things right, to move forward, to heal for a future worth living.

This book has quite a few triggers so may not be for you. This book has it all dark romance, drama, family, madness, mayhem, revenge, vengeance, violence, adrenaline seeking suspense, twists, turns, truths.

This story is told from multiple POV, it will take you on a wild ride, having you turn page after page. This book had me from beginning to end. This author definitely knows how to write and I’ll be coming back for more.

And those s*x scenes including those BDSM elements were steamy, it had all the angry angst, hate, pleasure and passion one would except when you have a girl at your mercy that you intend to please every single day.

Jasmine’s relationship with Liam slowly built in strength as they learned to trust each other, but they work together in there own way, because nothing and no one will get between Jasmine and her alpha dominating, controlling, yet overly possessive guy. She loves him and he loves her, regardless of all their differences, because they are in this together, making new promises to each other, holding the other countable, their happily ever after bittersweet, finally both getting the happiness they deserve.

I waited this book for months after reading The Marriage Debt. I got too curious of Liam and Jasmine’s story but this book did not deliver.

3.5 stars! So while I was looking forward to this book, it wasn’t as great as I had hoped. I felt like it was the first book all over again with a few different plot twists and turns, but the premise was the same, with even some of the same verbiage at times.
Overall I wasn’t a big fan of Jas’s character; I personally don’t like weak heroines and she was the epitome of that. Like she literally was willing to do “anything” after only a few hours of suffering. I mean you are that weak where you can’t suffer cold and solitude for more than a few hours without being willing to get on your knees? And why was she so unbearably thirsty and hungry in such a short timeframe? Did she not eat or drink anything prior? It was crazy to me that I’m reading all of this “suffrage” and surrender only for them to get ready for bed 🤨 like wait! Your telling me it hasn’t even been a full day and she is already giving in?
I gave this story a little more grace for some scenes, as they had a past history together, but (spoiler warning) forced and/or coerced oral sex is something that always pisses me off lol so the author definitely did her job in eliciting strong feelings in this reader on that front. Overall I was expecting more that a slightly different retelling of the first story. Also the flashbacks of the past were just too much. I feel like there were some inconsistencies as a result, because in this book Luca and his brother were supposedly told about the marriage at the same time by their parents, but in the previous book, Liam told Luca as their parents didn’t think he was ready to find out. There were some other examples that caused me some confusion, but I didn’t feel like going back to read it again to see if it was me or the author who made the mistake. With Liam’s rage I thought they were going to tie it into his TBI, but no it was all chalked up to his anger over memory loss. Also no one mentioned how his parents treated her like dirt as a result of his “death” which I felt like should have been brought up since he felt like he was the only one who suffered as a result of the accident.
Not a bad read as a stand-alone, but when read right after the first book, it’s too much like deja-vu. Also wish there was a little more to the epilogue to conclude the series

Overall Thoughts: This is my second book by Clarissa, my first being Sick Boys which I absolutely loved. I enjoyed this book, the plot and the dialogue, and while I didn’t listen to the Marriage Debt and the Wedding Debt first, it wasn’t a huge deal, but I think it would have been better if I had. I would have understood the dynamic between the siblings better, and what happened prior to this book. My main issue with this book is with Jasmine, and her naivety. She is so surprised that Luca is a ‘monster’, but she is the daughter of the head of one of the most powerful Dutch Mafia families, so it was slightly unrealistic to think she doesn’t have some idea of what goes on, especially since she was supposed to be the sister who would be involved in the business. Aside from that, I really enjoyed this book and will go back to listen to books 1 and 2 in the series.

Narration: Duet narration, first-person present tense, multiple-POV with a many flashbacks

Tropes: Mafia, memory loss, revenge, self sacrifice, sibling rivalry, attempted murder, virgin FMC, ‘good girl’, living off the grid, Dutch setting, hostage, car chase, motorcycle riding MMC, one bed, forced proximity, childhood friends/crush

Overall: 4
Spice: 3
Humor: 1.5
Drama: 3
Darkness: 3.5
Narration: 5

Luca has been gone for three years, and lost all his memories, except for his memories of her, Jasmine, the girl he has always wanted but could have. When his brother finds him and more of his memories come back, he recalls the person who tried to kill him and put him in his current predicament.

When he attempts to take her out, his brother sacrifices himself along with her. Jasmine, thinks she will be able to keep her family safe if she is able to k!ll Luca, but when they come face-to-face she hesitates and that is the opportunity Luca needs to take her back with him, and a chance to make her his forever.

Jasmine vows to stay with Luca and do as he says, forever if he promises not to go after her family again, but when his family shows up to save Jasmine, Luca will do anything to take back the woman he loves, even if that mean sacrificing himself.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

She signed a vow in blood. Now he's come to claim her promise. Jasmine Baas, daughter of a Dutch mafia lord. The girl who locked away her heart. The girl I'd kill for. Until life was almost ripped away from me. And I forgot everything I ever was. But I still remember craving her more than anything. For three whole years I waited. Plotted my revenge on her family. Lured her into my trap. She mad a promise to me once. A promise signed in blood. And weather she likes it or not...I'm going to make her keep it.

This is a dark romance and you need to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. You will also need to read The Wedding Debt and The Marriage Debt to get the full story of Liam and Jasmine.
Liam is a man who has a mission in life and that mission is revenge on the Baas family for what they did years ago. The man is patient if not anything else and has waited for the perfect moment to lure Jasmine Baas and make her his. This is where The Wedding Debt and The Marriage Debt comes in and you get the back story and the full understanding of the revenge that Liam wants to get. Liam and Jasmine has known each other for years and their family has had some shady business dealings with each other. To Jasmine the family and business have always been at the front of the line in anything she does. But then one day she realizes that she has her own goals in life. However there is a accident that has caused Liam to lose his memory but he has these feeling in him that are pertaining to the past and when he finds out that Jasmine's sister tires to take her own life his rage grows and grows into this beast of a thing that makes his issues he already has grow worse. Liam is a man who needs to get his priorities together and we can't forget the way he craves Jasmine. I know that this probably doesn't make to much sense but I really can not tell you about the story in detail or it would ruin the book for you. This is one that you do not want to miss if you have a dark romance loving heart like me. Clarissa Wild never fails to write some of the most amazing dark romances that will just light your world one first. You don't want to miss them.

The Blood Debt is a dark gripping enemies to lovers suspenseful story with jaw-dropping twists. This book grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go. This is a crazy rollercoaster ride, but worth it!!

Life. Death. Blood. Sex. Possession. Obsession. Madness—sums up the story. Love shouldn’t hurt, and love shouldn’t come with a knife. When Liam De Vos was in an auto accident three years ago, he lost his memory—he didn’t remember much about his past, but one person he did remember was Jasmine Baas—the woman the loved! When Liam started remembering bits and pieces, he became a monster seeking vengeance for what happened to him. There was only one person he wanted to bring his wrath down upon, which wouldn’t be pretty. Jasmine Baas is the sister of Jill Baas, and they are the daughters of the Dutch Mafia Lord. Jasmine is a woman who knows mental and emotional pain ever since Liam was gone, and never truly knew happiness or peace. Liam and Jasmine’s story is intense—they are two damaged people with hidden secrets and tragedies in their past. Liam has always wanted Jasmine ever since they were younger, so his sinister plans have turned into a game of cat and mouse with deadly consequences. Will Jasmine take the bait? The chemistry between Liam and Jasmine is undeniable as they are forced together under unfortunate circumstances. Liam’s relentless obsession to keep Jasmine safe despite her unwavering need to protect her loved ones is frustrating at best. Will this handsome but dangerous man let Jasmine go or is she forever trapped in this world by her monster. Their journey is full of hurt, lies, mistrust, betrayal, and secrets. As secrets from the past begin to unravel, long forgotten truths are revealed. What happens next? Well read this amazing story and find out—you won’t regret it! Clarissa Wild manages to weave dark and twisted plots centered on romantic ideas. I HIGHLY recommend this book! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book, "The Blood Debt" is the story of Liam and Jasmine. They are the future of their families Mafia businesses. Tied together but not always willing. Please read "The Wedding Debt" and "The Marriage Debt" before reading this book. The backstory is needed to fully understand and enjoy this series. Many layers to uncover before these two get their HEA.

Liam was being groomed to take over his family's business but secretly wanted nothing to do with it, except for Jasmine. He wanted her and as they grew older they made blood vows to each other. Jasmine wanted to learn all about her family's business and wanted to take over when her parents retired. Plans don't always work out the way we want them to.

A car accident cause Liam to lose his memories but he remembers Jasmine and the blood vows. He's been gone for 3 years when his brother finds him and helps to fill in some of the gaps from his life. He has a ton of blinding rage towards Jasmine's sister Jill, his brothers wife. Lot's of twists and turns as these characters find themselves and begin a life together.

**A reminder** This is a dark romance with dark, sexy parts that will make you go, "oh my gosh". It's a "hang on to your seat as you keep reading through the darkness", kind of story. I loved it and thankfully don't have any triggers to keep me from reading stories like this. Great characters, thrilling storyline and a great ending. Lots of layers to uncover, yes lots of layers but so worth the read. I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. 5*****

3.5 stars : I’ll never look at carrot 🥕 the same way again….

This was so clean and fast paced. It felt more like an answer to all the questions and arguments from book 1 with Luca and Jill. They finally argued and talked it out. All 4 of them. It’s so silly how bc of that ONE KISS years ago … everything and ALL 4 of their lives changed so much.

This book missed out on the “WOW” factor for me big time. I wasn’t impressed or shocked by the things that were happening. It felt like a side story rather than a full complete book like Luca and Jill.

These 4 were playing a lot of blaming games with one another. And tbh, it was a situation where u can’t really point at ONE person and say— “This happened ONLY bc of u” bc somehow, it was all of their faults how they got to where they are now. Some went thru more than others unfortunately.

I was expecting Liam to be worst than Luca in this book… bc Luca was something else 🥹😂😭 Grade A asshole lol 😂 even in this book. But I guess I liked the complex grey character of his. But While Liam initially was giving major villain vibes due to his memory loss- he more than redeemed himself tbh— bc the whole situation is just too complex to point fingers and blame a single person.

Liam ended up being the sweetest guy ever like plz— he would do literally ANYTHING for Jasmine. 😩 if only she understood it sooner. Anyways- this story was not as dark as the previous one. While it did have SPICY 🌶️scenes, It didn’t have that many as previous books.. which I don’t mind at all. I liked how straightforward this book was.

I wish they had an extended epilogue to this where we see all 4 of the characters together and having a family.

💭This book is a captor/captive romance that’s seriously intense, dark, and steamy AF. It's the third book in the series, and while I did feel like I needed a bit more backstory at the start, it still works well as a standalone if you haven’t read the others.

The story revolves around Liam and Jasmine, who both come from mafia families. They were close friends growing up and even hoped their parents would arrange for them to be together one day. But then everything falls apart when Liam has a horrible accident that leaves him with memory loss. The only thing he’s certain about? His burning desire for revenge on Jill, Jasmine’s sister, whom he believes is responsible for the accident.

Determined to protect her sister, Jasmine tracks Liam down, but things take a wild turn when she ends up being held captive by him. The story flips between the past and the present, giving us insight into what led to this twisted situation.
If you love Beauty and the Beast vibes, you’ll get them here, Jasmine can’t help but start falling for Liam, even with all the intense and dangerous things that go down between them and their families. It's a whirlwind of passion, revenge, and complicated emotions that keeps you hooked until the very end.

This was my first time checking out an audiobook from Sparks Fly Studio, and I’ve got to say, I was seriously impressed! They went all out with adding sound effects like doors closing and even slapping sounds, how cool is that? It honestly made the whole thing feel way more immersive. And the narrators, Grayson and Ehlen, absolutely nailed it as Jasmine and Liam. Their voices and performances were just incredible! It really took the story to another level. Overall, an amazing audiobook experience!

The Blood Debt
Debts & Vengeance, Book 2
By: Clarissa Wild
Narrated by: Grayson Owens, Ehlen Valentine

Dark, dangerous and extremely passionate, this story is captivating from the first chapter. Clarissa Wild never ceases to shock me, and her writing style keeps me coming back for more. Finally, Liam gets his story, and it is exactly what I wanted. A little cringeworthy at times, my heart still melted for this depraved antihero. Coming back from the dead, he is ready to take his revenge. But does he get it? No recollection of his past except glimpses, he is ready to start reclaiming his life, and he is starting with Jasmine. But this love hate relationship started years ago. Back when these two were kids, their friendship had a blood debt. Something that they never thought would ever come into play, now, it's front and center. From start to finish, Wild gives these two a push pull that had to end up with that final good pull! It's dark, dangerous and packed with obsessive love and passion. But where does it all lead? To make this even better, make sure to read the first two books in the trilogy. The books standalone, but the background is so good, it will give a whole new understanding to these two fantastic characters. Give them all a listen.

Grayson Owens can read the phone book and I would be there to listen to him. His gritty, alpha, antihero voice is dark and dangerous, perfect as Liam. Ehlen Valentine is Jasmine, strong, scared, and compassionate, she pulls out all the stops, and shines with the love she has for Liam. This is a fantastic pairing and exciting narration.

I received the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

KC Rating: 🍁 🍁 🍁/🌶 .5

So I enjoyed the previous book in this series - Marriage Debt, and I thought that this one would be darker, $ex would be wilder, but somewhere around 40% I realised that I wouldn’t be getting anymore weird $ex, and I got disappointed. I still did enjoy the book, but I guess the expectations were much higher for it.

And let’s be honest! We get to follow Liam - who lost his memory for three years, tried to kill Jill (spoiler for those who have not read Marriage Debt 😅 and is hell bent on one thing - getting Jasmine!

I was expecting, honestly not sure what I was expecting, but I’m sure I wanted more. Especially the part where he used Luca’s favourite phrase, yeah that was a major turn off for me during that scene…. (I’ll try not to spoil it, but let’s just say that Luca had one huge God complex there!)

The climax of the story was also a bit either rushed or just screamed- need to finish this, so let’s wrap it up. Like come on! The “confrontation” could have been soooooo much better! But nah, it was a bit too sappy for me… ( I think I’m starting to have way darker tastes😅).

But overall the book was nice! If you’ve read first two book ( I did only book 2) then you would want to know how Liam’s story will end. If you are new to the series, this is a standalone, and you’ll be able to follow without any issues! Grab your copy and get to know Liam and Jasmine two broken souls that need each other to mend their brokenness! But do be sure to buckle up, because this ride will be bumpy!

XOXO

A thrilling dark enemies-to-lovers romance. WARNING: This book includes scenes that may be disturbing to some readers.

This is the follow up to book one, The Marriage Debt

Jasmine Baas, daughter of a Dutch mafia lord. Jasmine and her sister Jill grew up very protected and sheltered. The Baas family & the De Vos family were once very close family friends, often going out together. The two De Vos boys & the two Baas girls were very close, even though they seemed to get along like oil and water. Jasmine always liked Liam, always had a crush on him. Little did Jasmine know Liam also had a crush on her, even though his brother often tried to crush that out of him.

Jasmine wanted Liam & her sister Jill to get along. Jill wanted to know if Liam liked her and Jasmine encouraged a kiss between them to see if they had any chemistry. Little did any of them know that kiss would set off an entire event that would span a few years of heartache and hatred.

Liam De Vos, son of a mafia crime boss, has been presumed dead for the past 3 yrs. His brother Luca never believed he was dead, as they never found his body. Liam & Luca have hatred built into their blood. Liam only has memories of Jasmine. Will he ever see her again?

In this story, we had a lot of going back and forth with memories of when each was younger.

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

An unconventional story of love that goes through chaos before it reaches the other side.

Liam used to be the nice guy but he's turned into a monster. He's more like his brother Luca which is a shame. He says he's always wanted Jasmine but he's holding her prisoner and treating her like a pet a plaything to use anyway he wants. She is forced to give him sexual favors just so she doesn't freeze or starve to death yet he still leaves her in the cold freezer room. What kind of love is that?! What a pig.....
For goodness sakes why do all the girls in mafia families have to be wallflowers. Here she is supposed to take over the family business but can't even point a gun much less shoot someone without her hands shaking and knows nothing about how to fight to protect herself.

Both their parents are worthless only using their kids to get ahead no matter the consequences.

It took till about 65% before things changed and he became less monster like and more the old Liam but damaged and intense. He tells her “I’m your monster … and you’re my undoing.” Things were looking up for them then all he** broke lose when they have uninvited visitors. Will everyone survive when the chaos clears?

Liam redeemed himself in this book whereas Luca from the first book was still his usual self.
