Just when things are looking up, someone wants to kill me.

I thought I’d found some steps forward, some positivity. Recently aged out of foster care, I have my own place, small but mine alone, giving me privacy I’ve yearned for as well as a safe space. A job that, to my amazement is turning out to be satisfying and pays enough to cover my expenses if I’m very careful. And a few new friends, including my boss and three guys any girl would give her almost anything to date. I’ve surmounted so many challenges to get to this point.

Then I return, one evening ,to find my apartment ransacked and vandalized. A clear sign things are taking yet another turn for the worse. I shouldn’t have been so quick to let my guard down, but despite all the troubles of my childhood and youth, I didn’t think I had any true enemies. Some kids from various fosters and the group home who weren’t my best friends, who were cruel even, but not one I could think of who would pursue me like this.

And they didn’t just break my belongings. They ripped out the wiring, pounded holes in the walls, smashed the toilet, broke or destroyed anything possible. My six months’ rent, bestowed as part of a program to help fosters who were aging out of the program, was ending early. Someone wasn’t getting their security deposit back. And worse, the housing officer called by the landlord declared it uninhabitable until someone put a whole lot of money and time into fixing it up. They refused to even consider my doing it myself —and I probably don’t have the skills anyway.

With nowhere to live, I am offered a place to stay by Lynn and the Ridgewood Rogue pack. I’m not sure how I feel about it. Yeah, they say I belong with other shifters but it seems like giving up on my newfound freedom.

It’s that or the street.

Watching my back when I was in the group home or a foster home isn’t a new thing for me, but at least then I knew my enemies.

Now, I mistrust everyone and everything.

Maybe everyone will be better off if I just disappear.

This is book two of the Ridgewood Rogue Wolves series and the main character Char (Charlotte) had only just gotten her own place after aging out of foster care and also her first proper job, when she returned one night to find her small rented apartment completely trashed and a piece of paper skewered by a knife, with her name on it. She can’t live there anymore and has no one else in the small town to rely upon, after her upbringing. She is taken back to the place she works just outside of town, where the lady who hired her, allows her to stay in her large home, which is currently being cleaned and renovated by her and everyone else. Char feels she is in the way, but soon learns that she is part of this pack, being a wolf shifter herself, even if she forced her own wolf to hide deep within her from the age of five, when her leg was chewed off! Lynn is the perfect mother figure, feeding many of the pack and Char finds herself in the quandary of liking three of the young men there, Vincent, Andrew and Neville, and they show signs of liking her as well. She knows next to nothing of pack life and is still being educated in that.
She begins to feel more comfortable around the pack and even makes a female friend, who is a raccoon shifter. Anyone is welcome in this pack and many have been thrown out of their packs or worse, yet still found a home here. Lynn keeps everyone together, even though there is no alpha to run the pack. We don’t learn anything more about who was threatening Char and destroyed her flat, but at least she takes her relationship with one of the men further and finds there is the possibility of more than one fated mate, within a pack like theirs. She wants to know more about shifting and Lynn is a great help in allowing her to see a shift up close and personal. Andrew is there when she first shifts and the fact her wolf is missing a leg, makes no difference to her running ability and she can finally join the rest of the pack on a pack run!
It would have been slightly easier to pick up this second book, if there has been a bit of a recap of events from book one, as I have read quite a few books since this one, and it took me a while to remember what happened before and who everyone was. I look forward to seeing all of these short stories put into one boxed set, to make it easier to read. We get to learn more about Char and her wolf, as well as some romance and a mating bond in this episode. I can’t wait to find out what will happen in the next one and who she will bond with next. I received an ARC copy of this book form BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This is book two of the Ridgewood Rogue Wolves Saga the book can’t be read as a standalone it needs to be read in order because they do pick up right where the first book left off with Charlotte gaining her freedom by aging out of the foster care system, adulting is hard especially living in a small...really small apt. in a not so good part of town but at least it is hers and she has a job that she loves so being able to come home (her home) feels good. One evening she comes home to find her place trashed like really trashed someone wants her dead, but she isn’t sure what to do because she has never had a pack or friends per say but working on pack land and making friends while working there has been amazing not to add the three hot, sexy as all get out three shifters any women would want but would they want her a one legged girl who just learned that she can actually shift. She can’t think of anyone who would want to harm her meaning she made few friends along her journey but most including kids treated her mean and downright cruel for the most part but not enough to kill her. She really wanted her security deposit back however, she isn’t sure she will get her deposit back but who would do this to her, will her new friends protect her, who is out trying to kill her or do they even what her dead, will she end up giving up her freedom to live among the pack is there no other choice, and is there happiness some where on this path she is traveling?

Even better than the first!

So, the last book I complained about inconsistencies. This one was much better in that regard, and I'm still LOVING the story line! It ended happily, not on a crazy cliffhanger of any kind (which would have been fine at this moment since the last two books are out already, at this point), but there's still stuff to do and figure out, and it isn't just drama or intense stuff. It's more "level", real paced and "realistic" somewhat, as much as shifter novels can be!

My only real "huh?" moment in this book was this... In the first book, it was mentioned that she saw Vincent a couple of times outside of her place one night, and she also saw him early on in the book at the store when she was working at the variety store. Suddenly, in this book, she's saying she needs to ask about his look alike. I just assumed it was still Vincent, but he had been distracted at the shop, or was searching for her scent outside of her place. There was a brief conversation where Vincent said he didn't remember seeing her previously when she asked, but I didn't get "It wasn't me" from that. So where she decided it wasn't him at all, or that it was a lookalike, or even that he could be a shifter at all, threw me off.

Still a GREAT story though so far, great author, and I'm excited to keep reading!

Charlotte's Freedom . . .

Charlotte was finally feeling hope, aged out of the foster system, getting a job she likes and a small but adequate apartment seemed like a huge step forward. This is the freedom and privacy she had longed for.

But when she arrived home and her apartment had been badly damaged and vandalized, her belongings destroyed, the wiring ripped out, the toilet damaged, all her progress feels like it disappeared. She didn’t think she had enemies like this. She is offered a place to stay by Lynn and the Ridgewood Rogue pack, but it still feels like she has lost everything. And she doesn’t know who might be after her now. Is there anyone she can trust? Will she ever be able to shift?

Disappointed

After book 1 although although the story was wasn't that phenomenal it held my interest, found myself checking for book 2. I'm glad I have kindle unlimited because I would be a lot more upset about what I just read.

The heroin finally gets to shift. The author bangs on about so much about not shifting since she was 5, I found myself wondering if she really was a wolf shifter. The event is so underwhelming the execution of this was just flat out, well, flat. Then that's more or less the end of book 2.

If more effort was put into the plot progression and less on what they ate, I maybe would have been okay with the lack of anything happening.

Marred is the second book in the Ridgewood Rogue Wolves series. It is a short and easy-to-read book with a storyline and characters that keep you engaged. I do like the characters in this series, and it is always nice to have strong female characters. That being said, I do hope that Charlotte does not begin to wallow in her circumstances. She is strong and a lot more fierce than she thinks. The three sexy shifters make the story quite interesting. I can hardly wait to see where this goes. Marred is a page-turner with much angst, drama, some action, lots of suspense, and a mystery.

Charlotte has her freedom from foster care and living on her own. She is enjoying the freedom and the job she loves, but one night when she gets home that all changes? Who wants to hurt her? Can she live on the pack lands where she works and has found new friends? Of course, there is the three hot guys she is attracted to. Now with her wolf not coming out and someone after her, what will she do to become one with the pack and her wolf?

Excellent

I really like the main character, she has a ton of personality while still having her own doubts and such. And multiple scenes in the book had me in stitches, like envisioning a raccoon riding a wolf! And her telling off the pastor's wife, perfection though it's kinda horrifying that there were other complaints and foster children were still sent there. Hopefully that gets addressed more further in the series.

Still good

This book focused on how Charlotte would be able to shift and how her relationship with the guys settles.
Charlotte makes a new friend, Jeannie, and finds slowly her pace in the pack.
I just found a bit weird that the threat against her is a bit put aside here. But we will hear about it for sure in the next books...🧐

Hmm

This may be slightly biased. I'm still having issues with the story jumping around and not filling in information for us, the reader, just for the fmc but instead focusing on random task. Also, why the length of this book? Small things happen to move the FMC along and her personal life but nothing happens plot wise or story wise.

I am enjoying the series. Each book pulls you deeper into the story and character development is great. Fast easy read for those moments when you want to read a good shifter book, but don't have a lot of time.

good but short

I’m really enjoying this series and especially the characters in it. It’s so wonderful to see a shifter who’s not perfect be the heroine. I love how she’s not let the foster system or the loss of her leg hold her back.

good read

The stupid pastors wife is a complete idiot. She knew her husband was sneaking into teenage girls rooms when they were taken in foster girls then she has audacity to blame the girls for her husband‘s actions.

She Found Her Wolf

Mazzy, this one continues with Charlotte's growth and she officially gets her first mate. Again, I like how you develop the characters and there is no instalove. Onto book 3

GOOD BOOK

Very good book. Just too short. It just gets going then stops. And on to the next book. But at least the series is complete. Thankfully that’s done. I do recommend this series. Happy reading.

Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off. Charlotte is living with the shifters becoming part of the pack. Falling for 3 hot guys and loving it. This book was sweet, and still filled with action. Looking forward to the next book.
