When the abduction of a nine-year-old child sends a small town into a frenzy, Detective Sally Lawson is tasked with finding the person responsible. But when evidence points to a janitor employed at the museum where the child was the last seen, Lawson isn’t sure they’ve caught the right man. Desperate to solve the case before another child disappears, Detective Lawson must uncover the truth before worried parents bring the town to the brink of chaos.
A lot of mistakes, words missing throws you out of wack reading. Story movies along an keeps you guessing. The story is ok but the characters don't stack up.
I nearly have up in this book more than once because of all the gaffes and gaps in the story. Part of me was frustrated at the poor quality of the writing, and part of me admired the author for making the attempt. Mr Walker needs to do some research into police procedures as a start. I'm A "civilian", so I don't claim to know all the ins and outs of police work. However, I can tell that Sally's relationship with her boss is not standard. One has to wonder how Haxton ever made it to his position as clueless as he seems. Secondly, is the lack of background. I don't know if this story takes place in a small town or some more highly populated city. There is a dearth of information to give the reader context. Next, Sally relies too much in her " gut instinct" and is not willing to do the investigating that is required for good police work; not is she willing to listen to other opinions. Given Haxton's evident lack of experience, not listening go others might be a benefit for Sally. Lastly (for the purpose of this review), are all the places where Mr Walker has failed in logic, chronology, typography, and depth. The characters are superficial, there is little to nothing go make them into characters where the readers can make a connection. The background characters, such as Simon and Aling, are nothing more than cardboard cutouts. Sally is driving after the assault that totalled her car without is ever knowing (until much later) how she ever bit another vehicle. I wish Mr Walker all the best in his writing career and hope that his writing gets better. I can't envision reading another of his books.
I give this book three stars Star #1 because the author is excited about his writing, enjoys what he is doing and can improve. Star #2 He has avoided the proofing errors that are so common in self published books. Star #3 The book is an easy read because there are only a few main charaters and, for a mystery, a rather uncomplicated plot Typically I read a mystery twice to see where the plot elements are introduced. I won't be doing it with this one.c I have no more stars to give because: The characters are underdeveloped and steotypical. Sally, the heronine detective who is full of daring, is controlled by that womanly trait of female intuition. She then becomes seen as hysterical and crazy. Garreth Haxton, fellow detective, is the typical gruff man with a heart of gold. The ending, while not used often enough to be trite, is not original. I won't give it away, but you will know what I mean if you get that far. When the welded up truck, or whatever it was, shows up, you know it will be critical to the plot. It's appearance in the plot is far from subtle. Besides that, Sally's child becomes invisible and leaves the plot. During his absense he is passed from one relative to the next. Her ex-husband is way too nice. And there is no frozen child or I missed the meaning. Looking for it was the only thing that kept me reading until the end. Aside from all that, I might give the author one more chance.
A child went missing at a museum when the lights went out on a trip with the class. Sally a cop with one young son but divorced got on the case. She was a smart lady. They searched the video tapes but found nothing. Later than another child just disappears. No one saw anything either. Total of 3 shorty there after were missing with not may leads. They followed ever leads but got no where. Nothing much was mentioned about the children thru out the book till towards the ending of the book.. Story follows who all and what all they did to find the children. Someone crashed into Sallys car one night. Where they trying to kill her? So many leads but not enough to arrest anyone. Sally figured out who was involved in it all and decided to do her searching now under the wire so to speak. She may lose her job or was she just crazy from the accident injuries. Didnt matter to her she was sure she had to save these boys if they were still alive even if that meant losing her beloved job.
It all started with the abduction of a nine year old boy at a local museum while on a school field trip. From there the plot develops into much more; more kidnappings, attempted murder, and murders. Overall the story was interesting. Though it did have lots of mistakes or missing words which made one re-read the sentence to understand what was actually said or meant.
I was a bit surprised that the author didn't include much about the parents of the missing children. Surely, they would have been going out of their mind with worry. I mean, days passed without any knowledge to their where abouts. There just didn't seem to be much urgency in finding the boys. I give this one 3.5 Stars.
A very exciting & memorizing story about young boys being kidnapped by two identical twin brothers, who are technically genius,, but on the crazy side as well. A very good woman detective figures out the who done it's of the case, but fellow detectives, think she's crazy. She goes along, but all along, she follows her hunches to the bitter end, catching the two brothers in their final act and saving the young boys,so they are able to unite with their families. If you like a real good thriller, you will truly enjoy this one !

I liked the book okay but the main character was just too perfect. Also, I got a little tired of her conclusions being based solely on her "gut instinct" . I mean it was repeated over and over that she knew something for a fact and she was ALWAYS right because her gut instinct told her so, even when there was no evidence. She also committed several felonies to catch the bad guys. I will, probably not read any more books in this series.
I will be reading this author again. This story had an excellent story concept and I followed to the end. I couldn't get passed a hero named Sally and some of the dialogue could be simplified. Odd words like a computer "rig". But was this a suspenseful, intriguing story? Yes. Worth the read!
This book held my interest from page one until The End.
I am always thrilled to find a new author. Thank you Mr. Walker. Now let's find another book to further my journey of your work. THANK YOU. Happy Super Bowl Day!!
This book was very good. I kept trying to figure out where those kids were. My mind was asking slot of questions. Little did I know that this is how it ended!! Great book!
I should have been in s hurry yo turn the pages, nut I never was able to get involved with the character s.it just was not that good. St the end it was really over the top. Unreal.
This is a great kidnapping series and all of the books in this series were a great reading. I would highly suggest that you read all of the books in this series as they are all great books with a a lot of suspense and mystery!
This story had more twist and turns than a roller coaster. Loved that the main character was led by her intuition or gut. She was like a dog with a bone. Great read!
