I'm a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and now, a full time novelist. Between those careers, I've also worked as a deckhand, commercial fisherman, divemaster, taxi driver, construction manager, and truck driver. I live in the Sea Islands, near Beaufort, SC, with my wife and youngest daughter. We also have three grown children, five grand children, three dogs and a whole flock of parakeets. I grew up in Melbourne, FL and have also lived in the Florida Keys and Cozumel, MX.
If you are a person who enjoys action packed tropical adventures with plenty of mystery and suspense, you may find that listening to Timeless is the right audiobook to fill that need. Timeless is the newly released second book in the Tropical Authors series which is overflowing with wonderful characters and just as many beautiful Caribbean locations. If you have listened to any of the previous well-known Tropical Authors such as: Wayne Stinnett, John H. Cunningham, Nick Sullivan, or Nicholas Harvey, you have a good idea of what you will find in this newer, and well received series. I have been a big fan of Nick Sullivan’s “The Deep” and “Zombie Bigfoot” series and it was good to find similarities from other authors out there. Even more, it is another series of audiobooks which is skillfully narrated by Mr. Sullivan as well. I find all of his work professional and engrossing. If you have listened to other audiobooks by these authors, you will enjoy the collaboration and cross character play from the individual authors. I would highly recommend you pick up this audiobook along with the first in the newer Tropical Authors series.
As a private pilot, I found the opening sequence fascinating and rather nerve racking. A night landing on water is a pilots worst nightmare next to a fire in the cockpit. The descriptive scenes and vivid imagery that ran consistently throughout the audiobook really caught my attention and brought me into the story. If I had to describe the audiobook, I would say that it was more like an “Indiana Jones” movie taking place in the Caribbean instead of Egypt. It is simply loaded with action and adventure from start to finish. In this story, the listener is given a view of the lush Cayman islands and we are again watching over Emily and Boone while they, and a few newer characters to me, are thrown into a mystery that spans a swath of history. I found the audiobook’s flashbacks to be a new addition from previous works I’m familiar with, and I rather liked it. I had no former knowledge of the other main characters in the book (mostly from the other Tropical Authors series I have not listened to) fun and likable. As with the earlier “The Deep” series, the listener is also brought into the world of undersea diving. Not as much in this audiobook, but it was still a learning experience for me to hear about people who free dive.
The audiobook contained a few pokes at pop culture along with some funny parts to help relieve the tension. I also thought that the characters felt more vulnerable than ones from other series. The character complexity ranged from the down to earth locals, women in stilettos and tight dresses, to high-up killers and even some royals. The story does a good job of weaving in details and slowly releases hints along the way. One’s search for the event that took place in the past, reveals something that was thought to be hidden forever. For me, the tale felt cohesive and well portrayed even when written by a number of authors. If you did not know it, you would have suspected that a single author penned the story. I have to give kudos to the authors for achieving this one.
Speaking of the audiobook’s narration, I can not say enough for Mr. Sullivan’s ability and skill when it comes to his audiobook narrations. The audio is often easy to listen to with consistent volume levels. I did want to note that I believe there were at least two places where I think the audio was briefly patched, but this was almost unnoticeable. Apart from this, it was top notch and I am still amazed at his ability to pull off narrating female characters well along with the many accents and dialects these series of stories require. So, another great job by Mr. Sullivan on this one.
For parents and younger audiences, some profanity was sprinkled in the story, mostly by one specific character. Also, be aware that some elements of sexual cotent or discussions involving adult toys were also included. Lastly, the story contains some graphic violence which may not be appropriate for all audiences. I would recommend the audiobook for more mature listeners only.
In summary, this audiobook contains quite an adventure in its nearly nine hours. As with other works I have reviewed by these authors, I always find the afterwards chapter fascinating. If you normally skip them, make sure to give it a listen. The level of research and people involved in making an audiobook like this one amazes me. The story is solid, the action flows, and all of the characters (apart from the villian) were likable. All I can say is that I look forward to future works by these authors and the narrator.
Wayne Stinett, Nick Harvey and friends have all contributed sections to this great value-for-money volume, Timeless. It begins with 'Woody' Rains', (a former Navy pilot turned commercial charter hire navigator's) back story to his violent arrival in Grand Cayman, after he was skyjacked, by a client calling himself Calloway, then struck by a flock of birds, that resulted in a nose-dive into the sea on impact.
Moving forward in time, Woody's son Eddie, hires AJ Bailey, Thomas and Reg, who run Mermaid Divers, to help him on his quest for his Dad's sunken plane - and its mysterious cargo. Who's Arlo Bodden?
How do the elements of this split timescale thriller come together and with what result? However it ends, you can be sure there's lots of adventure, danger, diving and deeds of derring-do aplenty, whenever this amazing group of Tropical Adventure writers meld their creative imaginations together.
Go get Timeless by Nick Harvey, Wayne Stinett, Nick Sullivan and John H. Cunningham today and buckle up for a wild ride you're sure to love!
I am a fan of Wayne Stinnett and all of his works. When he began collaborating with these other authors, I was thrilled with the result of the first book they wrote. Now this second.... Wow! Fantastic! These authors clearly work well together and wrote each character as their creators did. I was toying with the idea of beginning the other authors' series after I read Graceless. But after reading Timeless, I am no longer toying with the idea and am ready to pick up those books now. As a matter of fact, I have samples of all their firsts already downloaded. I am already looking forward to reading the next book in the tropical adventures to see what new authors I can find. This book was so well written in following Eddie as he searched to discover what happened to his father. I loved the flashbacks to his father and what happened to him. It gave a needed backstory to correlate with the present day search. Love how each main character interacted together too. I could go on and on but I'll just end with: Ahh, well done!
Oh my,my favorite authors did it again. The blending of the various characters, the split timelines made for some exciting reading. When I read a book I hear the voices of the characters and from the description of the islands, the various locations in them I can visualize all that's going on. When I can't, such as what a particular boat or plane looks like, good ole Google comes to my rescue. I read Graceless and will now begin Shameless.. I pre-order as they're still writing. I recommend this book and all the books by these guys, you won't be disappointed.
This is such a great storyline and I love how these four authors put this story together and made it whole; it is seamless!! A debunked Royal with a shameful past and a wealth of items. The Heart of Ceylon necklace reminded me of the necklace from the titanic. Priceless in so many ways. I love the characters that were brought together to experience this mad man’s insanity. The storyline from today and then moving back to 1976 is a great way to reveal “what happened”! And we get to experience everything; what a roller coaster ride this is!! I can’t wait for the next book!!
Another great collaboration novel by these fantastic Tropical Adventure authors! Individually, they are all great authors with great characters in their own books. The idea of combining them all in one story, where you get all of the familiar characters and the writing styles of each author is brilliant! I truly hope they continue to work together in the future. And of course, I hope they continue using Nick Sullivan to narrate! Fantastic!
This is one of the best books I have read in awhile. The way the authors tied all characters together was fantastic. The story line is one of those you start reading and can’t put down. It was like I was there on the island with them. Thank you to the Tropical Authors for such a great book.
Another good book I couldn't put down until I finished it!
"Timeless" was seamless also! How four authors can collaborate on one novel, with a cast of dozens, all characters I've read and grown to love individually, then create a seamless story where I couldn't tell whom was writing what! Very nice! Awesome, if I could use a very overused word! Can't wait for the sequel...
Absolutely great story. Graceless was awesome and Timeless fell into place. The characters have always been an interesting crew and have read all of their adventures. Looking forward to the next book. Great job to all involved.
Although the blending of the characters was intriguing and successful the storyline (for me) was a bit too tedious and in some cases (not sure who's writing) verbose! But, I do hope there's further collaboration melding characters.
Whereas the plot was interesting some of the situations the various characters were ridiculous and very predictable. This group of authors can do much better and I suggest they put more effort into any future books they may collaborate on.
Never before have I read a book like this. Never before have I read a book that's ending that has moved me like this one did. Yes i will admit my eyes teared up..Kudos to the authors on a outstanding book!!
Excellent story line that held my interest during the entire book. The twist and turns made it more interesting. I would recommend it to all to read and enjoy. Thank you to the four writers.
With all the authors involved it was a well put together story, entertaining with each author put his spin on it but keeping the other characters on track! Looking forward to the next installment!
The prose from all these authors makes you feel like you are part of the story. Add in the great characters they have developed in their own novels and watching them all interact was a real treat. Great collaboration .
Timeless follows Graceless seamlessly. I love how well these disparate characters meet up and work towards solving or resolving a current situation. Can't wait until Shameless.
I’m so impressed that four different authors can weave such a story together!!! All my favorite characters in ONE book…and it totally fit! Loved the trip to Little Cayman and the strong female cast! Bravo!!!
This book is the work product of several separate and distinct authors, each contributing their section to the whole. The result is another enjoyable adventure, very similar to the first one, Graceless. I have not read other books by these authors writing independently of the others, so this book is a small sampling of each one’s series.
