I really rather enjoyed this book but I had to round down. The beginning was good, but not really all that exciting. It did get a lot better towards the end though. My biggest issue was with Kenzie. I get that she was determined to save her sister, but it edged more towards unhealthy obsession.

Mad was a soldier just trying to do his duty and save lives when one decision cost him everything. Now used as a scapegoat and labeled a traitor, he avoided an execution by being given exile instead. His people have evolved to almost need the energy that their planet provides, so being sent off world to a planet that doesn't have this is almost punishment worse than death. But Mad learns quickly that there are other ways to obtain an energy close enough to survive. Years pass and he finds himself trapped working under one of the exile kings. A violent and cruel man, Mad hates the guy with a passion but there is little he can do if he wants to stay alive.

What I liked about Kenzie is that her strength was believable. She wasn't some waif of girl taking on the world without a single weapon and winning. Even better was that she knew when she was outmatched and didn't still rush in head first. Kenzie has been searching for her sister for years. Her sister was abducted when Kenzie had left to pursue a career and make money to provide for them. When she found out, she immediately set out and has been chasing her from planet to planet. And now she has found her hottest lead yet and knows that her sister is still on this planet. She just needs to find her. Easier said than done on a planet that values humans mostly only because of the energy they can provide.

It doesn't take long at all for Kenzie to catch the attention of Mad's king. And that's not a good place to be. Fortunately for her, from the moment Mad sees her he is overcome with this inexplicable need to posses and protect her. No matter what. Given Kenzie's attitude, I was actually really surprised when she slept with Mad that first night they met. But I'm so glad she did because I really liked how these two were together. Instead of Kenzie's strength and ability to fight turning Mad away, it really gets him hot. Even when she holds a knife to him he can't help but want her more. And these two worked well together despite the short time they have known the other. They just worked for me.

Together they try to track down Kenzie's sister while also trying to keep Kenzie out of the king's hands. Another thing easier said than done. Everything comes to a head when they confirm where she's at and Mad has to deliver a challenge that will be to the death in order to protect what he cares about the most.

What really annoyed me at the end was when Kenzie found her sister, she immediately had all these plans that she expected her sister to follow. She didn't ask what she wanted or anything. So I was very happy when the sister finally took control of her new freedom and more or less put Kenzie in her place.

I am also super curious about what's going to happen with Mad and his own family. I so wanted to see his sister's reaction when Mad told her he had a mate. I'm doubtful, but maybe we'd get to see it in future books.

Honestly, I'm on the fence about whether or not I'd want to read the next book. I really did enjoy this one and loved the forcefulness of Mad. So when I read the blurb of the next on Amazon and they straight up say he's a gentle giant....that's sort of a turn off... But it would be nice to see how Mad does things in that territory going forward as well, so I don't know.

I really wanted to enjoy Exile’s Hunter because the premise sounded right up my alley—an alien prison planet, a human heroine searching for her missing sister, a protective alien warrior, and fated mates. Unfortunately, this one just didn’t fully work for me.

Kenzie is determined and willing to do whatever it takes to find her sister, which I appreciated. Mad had all the ingredients of a great alien romance hero—protective, devoted, and completely gone for his mate. However, I struggled to connect with both the characters and the romance. The relationship developed too quickly for me, and I never felt fully invested in their emotional connection.

The world-building had some interesting ideas, especially with Guerran being a dumping ground for alien criminals, but I wanted more depth and exploration of the setting. The plot kept moving, but I found myself wanting more tension, more character development, and higher emotional stakes.

The audiobook was easy enough to listen to, and the story had a few entertaining moments, but overall it just didn’t leave a lasting impression on me.

If you’re looking for a lighter alien romance with a protective alien MMC, fated mates, and a rescue mission storyline, this may still work for you. It just wasn’t quite the right fit for me.

I really enjoyed this sci-fi romance! I think it is probably one of the best novels that I have read by this author so far. The world building was incredibly vivid, with the hero’s energy vampire culture and the grimness of this exile world really coming to life. The heroine was a strong fighter with some sympathetic trauma fragility and flaws to keep her interesting. The hero was deliciously alpha and devoted to his family. I loved the inclusion of the Fated Mate trope, and the fact that the author never used it as a crutch to sidestep true romantic relationship development. There were incredibly high stakes throughout and enough action to keep me turning the pages rapidly. The plot was tight, logical, and coherent. In short, I highly recommend this novel and appreciate how it showcases the author’s growth as a writer. . I received a free copy of this book, and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Overall a fun story of Kenzie searching for her sister after going missing for over 2 years. The start was kind of slow and there were some things I wanted to see happen.

I wanted to see a rematch with Kenzie and Baryn. He kind of just disappeared after Mad and Kenzie found out he took Carise(Kenzie's sister).

This was quite the adventure story set on a gritty prison planet. The main characters were both strong and well suited to each other. There was lots of action and suspense, along with some humour, and I found myself completely engrossed in the story as it unfolded. Good fun!

I really enjoyed this book! I love the fight scene in the arena! Girls Rule! I also loved that Kenzie new when to fight and when to get out of dodge. The world building wasn’t there but overall I could picture how much of the city looked. But it would have made this book a 5 star read had the world building been there.

Krudare was a special planet in that it had a source of energy called the Fount that every Kru’dari was able to access; it made them stronger, faster and sharper. So, when Madn Damari is exiled to Guerran, he feels the immediate withdrawal from the Fount; however, as he soon discovers, there are substitutes that can fill him with the same energy as the Fount, such as fighting, sex and humans. With hundreds of little kingdoms in the principal city of Orion, Mad was in the employ of Jadirel, one of the kings who got his energy from the two humans chained to his throne.

Kenzie Fletcher has been chasing clues as to the whereabouts of her sister, who was abducted from Earth. She has landed on Guerran, the latest in a string of many planets, and doesn’t have any idea what she’ll do if Carise isn’t on the planet. She is caught in Jadirel’s territory by his soldiers and is brought before him. After she unsuccessfully attempts to put a knife to his throat, he decides that she will fight in the pit and if she wins, she can walk away free. Mad wasn’t fast enough finding a seat before Jadirel saw him and invited Mad to sit beside him. When he saw Kenzie in the pit, there was something about her that immediately called to him.

I loved this book, with its impressive character development and unique world building. The evolution of the relationship between Mad and Kenzie was sizzling and the search for Kenzie’s sister was intense. The action and suspense were great and some of the plot twists were totally unexpected. Treat yourself to an immersive read with this book!

Even Exile Can’t Prevent Fate
This new series starts off with a bang! Extra action-packed, in the sense that there’s always action happening on the the planet where the Kru’dari send their exiles. And plenty of steamy scenes, not to mention fated mates and a lot of inter-related high stakes. This is my first Kate Rudolph alien romance beyond her Detyen Warrior romances, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one. Definitely not a read you start in on if you have any plans that might conflict with finishing it in one sitting. Or at least in one evening. Fans of Evangeline Anderson’s Kindred, Tasha Black’s alien romances, or alien romance and fated mates in general are sure to enjoy Exile’s Hunter!
Madn Damari was exiled for contesting orders he didn’t agree with, and has spent every moment of his exile trying to survive and figure out a way to get home to his family once more. He hasn’t made waves at any point.
Not until Kenzie. She’s a vicious little fighter, and fierce for such a small human. Mad is drawn to her from the moment he lays eyes on her, and one night isn’t nearly enough time with her. When he learns of her quest to find and rescue her missing sister Carie’s, Mad agrees to do what he can to help her. Even when it pits him against the exile King he serves out of necessity. Even when it puts him in more danger than he usually is on Guerran. And even when he starts to get an inkling that Kenzie might be his fated mate, which means that keeping her would either cost him his sister, or Kenzie hers.

Kenzie is pretty much a baadazzz female that takes no prisoners when it comes to finding her younger sister. (I will forgive the OVER DONE lost younger sister routine) as Kenzie thankfully doesn’t have too many TSTL moments.

Her sister was taken when Kenzie was off planet and the guilt has been consuming her for letting her sister, Carise down. She knows how to handle herself and also knows what she likes in her very infrequent male pursuits.

Mad is a war criminal because he chose to make a stand against killing innocents and is paying the price with being exiled to never return to his sister and her children on Guerran.

Guerran isn’t a nice place and they are ruled by a tyrant that gets his kicks by being a total an utter tool. Kenzie and Mad get caught up in his game and they are trying to stay one step ahead of his deadly intentions and rescue her sister, all while trying to keep their hands off each other.

Despite the cover looking a bit in my opinion more Halloweenish than sexy, the way Mad is written says despite appearances he’s quite a yummy specimen.

This was a high 3.5 stars, there are several plot holes and the end seemed to fizzle after a lot of buildup. This isn’t a cliff hanger ending, Kenzie and Mad’s situation is wrapped up for the most part, I think some loose ends need to be dealt with and hopefully it is answered in the upcoming book about Carise, Kenzies’ sister.

It was OK, but the ending was very unsatisfying. Are you telling me that the sister we spent the whole book searching (obsessing over, more like it) is there for about two pages, has two lines of dialogue, and then fucks off leaving only a letter? Because someone she doesn’t know left her a note? She choses a stranger over her own sister, the one she was so certain was going to come and save her? Sure, Kenzie was super overbearing, but c’mon, couldn’t Carise at least talk to her?
The bad guys are absolutely forgotten after the MCs kill the king. All his cronies, who were as bad as the guy, are never mentioned again. Are you telling me none of them are angry that Mad killed their boss? That they, the worst of the worst, are going to respect Mad's authorithy without question or complaint? Mad’s family was also completely gone. They pretty much were forgotten the second Mad started to lust after Kenzie. He’s just OK with not seeing them again when he’s spent six years of his life trying to get back to them.
Jaek’s characterization is pretty inconsistent. At the beginning he seems pretty intelligent and civilized, but when we encounter him later in the book he can’t speak one whole sentence, and pretty much grunts or yells every word (sometimes both), plus looks unkempt and dirty. Except sometimes he talks normally. And where did the characters get he’s a gentle giant I have no idea, because he seemed more like a violent, uneducated brute most of the time. The next book is about him and Carise, and I didn't like either of them, so I'm out.

Kenzie is desperately looking for sister. She blames herself for the fact her baby sister was taken at all and she will do anything, pretty much anything that will let her find her once more. She lands on Guerran and meets with someone who is able to give her a starting point to finding her sister although within no time at all from getting these details Kenzie herself is attacked. She not only manages to subdue her attackers but also shows mercy by not decapitating them. Doesn't do to bring too much attention to yourself right at the start of your mission now does it? Well except that is precisely what she has done. That and caught the attention of a rather distracting seven-foot male called Mad. As for Mad himself, he has resigned himself to an existence on the exile planet. He is most definitely not living. He was sentenced for refusing to annihililate an entire village when all that was needed was to bring one man to justice. So much for justice from his own people although he is still looking for a pardon that will bring him home to his family. That was until Kenzie came across his path. The moment he saw her fate basically cudgelled him over the back of the head and his priority now is to make her happy. Even if that very same thing is what will take her away from him.
I loved this planet and the characters. You can see it all in your mind's eye and you absolutely want to follow the threads of those others whose stories have yet to be told.

This book was so good I didn’t want it to end and the characters are so good together but with trust issues between them made for a great book. Kenzie Fletcher has been looking for her sister Carise for 2 yrs since she was abducted from earth and has followed a trail across some really bad planets and finally get a break leading her to planet Guerran that’s full of criminals that are a law unto themselves and human females are a hot commodity amongst the Kru’dari males who feed of there essence because they can no longer can get the Fount that keeps them strong. Madn Damari has just been sentenced to Guerran for not wanting to kill innocent people that he was ordered too. Now he works for an exile King Jadire but he’s not happy about it because he treats the people in his territory badly but he try’s to work around it all and to get by and gain energy he fights in the pits. Then he meets a gorgeous human female that fights in the pits and she is well trained and wins and now Jadire wants her for himself but Madn will never let that happen because she is his and will protect her with his life. Kenzie believes that Jadire has her sister and with the help of a sexy guy who she shouldn’t trust him and throws her off her game but it feels right and she doesn’t know why. Do they find her sister and can they have a future together. To get these answers and more get this brilliant book.

Guerran is a planet full of criminals. But that doesn't make them all bad guys. Mad refused to obey an order that would have killed innocent civilians and he's been cooling his heels on Guerran ever since. He hasn't given up hope of getting off the rock and seeing his sister and nephew once more.
He just has to avoid the local district King and not give over to his temper.

Kenzie has been looking for her abducted sister for 2 years. She finally thinks she may have caught up with her on Guerran. She just needs a little local help and she'll grab her sister and run. If she can kill a few scum-sucking, human-trafficking aliens whilst she does it, she's cool with that. She did not bargain on a 7ft alien, gladiator wannabe, "helping her".

Kenzie is a bit of an Amazon. She'll kick your butt and make you happy that she didn't kill you. Mad is innately dangerous but he has a good soul and just wants to see his family - he has no intention in climbing the greasy pole of ambition on Guerran to do it.

The passion is off the charts hot with these two, but Kenzie gives new meaning to the morning after wake-up call, LOL. Set in the same universe at the Detyens and Oscavians so most of the background is nice and familiar. There's plenty of action and the secondary characters are intriguing.

When he is ordered to bring her before the Exile King he knows he could never do that. What follows is an adventure filled with passion, danger and violence. Kenzie has been searching for her sibling for a long time and she will do absolutely anything to gain an answer as to where she has disappeared to. After she decides to investigate on the island of Guerran to gain information that may help her to find some details that will help her to locate what happened, unfortunately she was attacked by an assailant who she is able to bring to heel and prevent herself from being injured badly.

The male called Mad is not at all happy about her being treated as a captive, he had not been looking forward to existing on the hostile planet and she wants him to have the opportunity to receive a pardon which would allow him to return to his home planet with his own family.

This was a very interesting read that held your attention completely and was not what I had initially anticipated, I enjoyed the book thoroughly.

Kenzie is a human in search of her sister who has gone missing over two years ago. As soon as she gets close, Kenzies sister seems to disappear again. With the help of a mysterious human who also lives on the exiled planet, Mad and Kenzie find each other and soon form an aliance, as well as an unexplainable seductive pull. Kenzie is also full of energy that Mad needs and it doesnt seem to harm her when he takes some. Together they search for Kenzies sister and a way for Mad to be reunited with his sister and nephew on his home planet. Mad and Kenzie struggle with their feelings for each other and their plans before meeting the other. It was a fun story premise, especiall with the not-vampire energy needing aliens like Mad. Ends with a HEA and Kenzies sister. Cerise, will likely be the next books heroine. If you're here, you likely like alien romances, so I'd definitely recommend. . Kenzie is searching for her sister who was abducted. She ends up on the planet Guerran a place for exiled criminals. Mad was exiled to this planet when he refused to kill civilians. He loses the energy source called Fount that his race thrives on to make them stronger, run faster, and sharper. Mad finds that he can get the same energy by fighting, sex, and humans. Kenzie end up getting caught by one of the exiled Kings, that Mad works for. When Mad sees Kenzie he knows that she is special and he wants to protect her. He's ordered to take her before the King but he decides not to do that. This is when the adventure begins. Together they find a way to find Kenzie's sister, Cerise, and a way for Mad to leave the planet and go home to his sister and nephew. Do they find a way for Mad to leave the planet? Does Kenzie find her sister? Do they get their HEA? Hope the next book is about Cerise. Kept me reading till the very end. .

This story featured a woman who was very strong willed and a man that matched her. Both were worried about family and looking for peace.

He was exiled to another planet, essentially kicked out of his own family. Missing his sister and nephew, he did what he could. She was searching high and low for her sister. Meeting this man, she found someone to connect to, someone to stay for.

These two were so alike, both loved their families and wanted nothing but the best for them. I hated his brother-in-law. What a terrible person. And I loved the whole sister reconciliation but felt that the baby sister was selfish at the end. I am guessing we will be getting even more details to this wonderful story coming up. Love who the sis is paired with! I felt for our leads and honestly wished they, all 4, had more scene time together. Great writing, storyline, characters. There was a lot of heated moments between our loves and I wished for more resolution coming up in other stories! I can hardly wait for more! It was just ok. SPOILERS -- When I first started reading the story and saw that the aliens couldn’t survive living on Guerran unless they found a way to obtain energy that their bodies required and that sex was one of the two ways to get it, that this was a set up for the characters in this book to have gratuitous sex. There is a lot of sex but no more than most romance books written today but I did skip over a lot of it. Kenzie was on a quest to find her abducted sister and Mad was simply enduring his sentence to a prison planet hoping to receive a pardon from his king and return home to his sister. Kenzie’s sister is on the planet Guerran and eventually she’s recovered. Kenzie was a kickass woman but I think I would have been more interested in reading about the next stage of Mad’s and Kenzie’s life, on how they improve the lives of the people living in their territory and reign as their king and queen.

I thoroughly enjoyed how this book had a badass, strong female lead (Kenzie) who managed to by tough and strong but had her vulnerable and soft moments too. It made her far more fleshed out and enjoyable to read.

Then there was the hero (Madn), who was strong and sweet and knew just when to let Kenzie take the lead and when to jump in and save the day. Not to mention that he was super sexy and a total sweetheart to his own sister.

Combine that with a well thought out and complex world which felt far bigger than described and this became a fantastic, fun read.

There were some moments where I felt the they could have just talked a little better and things might have gone better for them and at some points I felt things were just a little too convenient (I'm talking to you alcove).

It's a complicated situation, a high-stakes hide-and-seek hunt for justice and a missing woman, and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the story. Kate Rudolph, mistress of action and amour, has come up with an ingenious HEA to top it off. I am on the lookout for the sequel, and in the meantime I am leaving this voluntary ARC review.

This done in one book establishes an interesting world where the criminals and those who on any other world would be the ‘underworld’ are the ones in charge. They’re making the rules, caring for their community… or at least setting the priorities, and Mad for one can’t help but notice the differences between the planet of Exiles and his home world.

Mad wants to keep his head down and survive relatively comfortably in hopes of someday having his exile rescinded. All of these things are put in jeopardy when his fated mate shows up and stirs up attention in search of her sister.

He risks death by not taking Kenzie to the Exile King, risks a quiet life by having to challenge the Exile King, and risks giving up the chance to have his exile rescinded if he wants to be with his fated mate.

Of course, Kenzie's world is also interrupted when thoughts of Mad invade her otherwise single-mindedness towards finding her sister. Meanwhile Kenzie's sister has a notable journey of her own!

Reading about her search was amusing. I found myself thinking "Wouldn't it be funny if her sister was ?" to "Oh, sister is definitely " to "wait, but wouldn't sister ?" to "of course sister was !"

This is an amazing start to this series. It’s well written with awesome characters, world building and storyline. It tells the story of Kenzie and Mad. Kenzie has been looking for her long lost sister and it leads her to the exile planet. Not long after landing she is attacked but defends herself without killing them. She doesn’t want to be noticed, unfortunately for her she is noticed by Mad who is a 7ft alien with a body that’s made for sin, and one that she’s not sure whether she wants to jump his bones or stab him. As for Mad, the first time her saw her he knew Kenzie is his fated mate and his priorities drastically change, ones that may lead to Kenzie leaving him for good once she’s found her sister. There’s action, danger, fated mates, passion, steamy scenes and more and I highly recommend it.

The exile king put Kenzie in the pit to fight and Mad was instantly taken with her. He helps her escape. He helps her look for her sister.
Mad must chose between Kenzie and fighting the exile king.

This is the start of a new series by Kate Rudolf. Kenzie was a former soldier whose sister was abducted from Earth two years ago...she has traveled the galaxy looking for Carise and had a lead that brought her to a prison/exile planet named Guerran. This is where Madn Damari was exiled. As a Kru'dari warrior he was about seven feet of pure muscle and sentenced to exile after refusing to kill civilians...he watched her fight and win against another Kru'dari, and although the king of this area wanted her to be brought to him, he didn't, taking her to his apartment instead...everything said she was his mate...although he wasn't sure if her believed in fate anymore...but you will need to read the story to see if the sister is found and if he can win Kenzie's heart...
