Unfortunately, I don’t get a choice. When I’m sold to the planet Pimeon by my fiancé, the President of Earth, it’s with the duty of uncovering their secrets and weaknesses. It’s to infiltrate the familial relationship of the leader and cause a rift. Only then will I be allowed to return home.
The Match Program put together by the Britonian race announces me as the first candidate after my brother’s successful match. Unfortunately, the human female it picks is the one cast off by my new sister’s father, the one who lost her title of First Lady. Can I win her over? Or is she too far gone? But neither of us have a choice when she turns up on our planet pregnant.

Monster romance is all the rage right now. Don't let the title put you off. The Pimeons are basically similar to kraken. And they treat their human ladies like queens (and princesses) which is accurate for this story. Tessa is the ex-fiancee of earth's president and he's an evil, evil man. She's matched to Stratek, a Pimeon prince. (If you've read the first book, which I highly recommend, you recognize Stratek.) Tessa is sent in as a kind of spy to convince Lilliana (bride match #1) to return to earth. Once Tessa gets there she starts to realize and uncover the president's lies. Stratek only wants the best for Tessa and to love her. I read this story in one setting and couldn't put it down. There's some great angst, good adventure, and a sweetly unfolding love story! Very enjoyable read. 4 stars!
I loved Lilaina and Juris’ story in Matched to the Monster so was really excited to find that there was a sequel, featuring the hero I had hoped for - Stratek (Juris’ brother).
While I enjoyed the story of Stratek and Tessa, the woman who would have become Lilaina’s step-mother, this book didn’t hit me the same way the first one did. It felt much darker, as we spend more time on Earth with Tessa and see her abuse at the hands of the President (Lilaina’s father) and her later imprisonment and sexual abuse (she is forced to “milk” men).
This book also had a pregnancy trope, which I don’t usually gravitate towards, so that could have been why it didn’t work quite as well as the first.
But, I loved the scenes with the Tiiblets Bantu and Driki. Fan servicing in the BEST way! They are always a highlight on page.
I was really hoping there would be a little more justice at the end of this book, but considering the post-apocalyptic hell that Earth is, maybe I was over-ambitious. Change comes slowly, and in this case, it's changing toward a better future.
Loved this second book in the matched to the monster series!! It was hilarious and super inventive to have “Esther” the dreaded stepmom from the first book. Lots of smexy times, angst and drama!! I hope there are more !!
It was fun to be back in the world of the first book…but I just didn’t love it as much. And I can’t really say why….I actually would guess this couple would be my favs based on their personalities. Maybe it’s the pregnancy trope. Maybe it’s a me thing. I’m definitely going to continue with the series tho🐙
I thoroughly enjoyed this interplanetary alien-human romance from Rena Marks.
While I felt this second book in the series was not as narratively strong as the first in terms of structure, the character work was excellent and the story was compelling.
It was great to see the world of the previous book fleshed out a bit further, and to both follow up with some of the characters from Matched to the Monster too, as well as delve into a sweet (and also seriously steamy) new love story.
The attention to worldbuilding here is incredible and the description of a speculative future post-WW3 Earth is both credible and heartbreaking. It sets an excellent backdrop for an interplanetary matches-to-mates romance.
Small complaints/ suggestions: I think this book would have really benefited from a glossary of alien terms in the end notes.
There are also a handful of grammar quirks and other copy editing slips that a tighter edit would have remedied. But on that front, as far as indie published romances go, Matched to the Monster Too was relatively light on narrative-breaking diction and syntax hiccups (still. There were enough that I was bothered, though perhaps a less obnoxious reader likely would not be).
I’ll be reading a lot more from Rena Marks in the future.
I’d give a lot, personally, to be able to buy these books from a non-Amazon based ebook store (like Smashwords, Apple Books or the Kobo store), or even from the author’s and/ or publisher’s personal website.
I understand that the vast majority of ebook commerce happens on Kindle these days. However Amazon fundamentally does not respect the privacy of its customers and as a reader I always see having to purchase a book from Amazon as a last-resort choice.
Ebooks are the only thing I still purchase from Amazon—and I do so only grudgingly and only for authors I strongly feel I can’t afford to miss under any circumstances.
My fondest hope is that one day readers will have better options than Kindle.
Stratek, is Prince of his people, captain of the kings guard and brother to Juris the King from the last story. On his return trip to Earth he meets the woman who makes his heart beat the love of his life. They dance , make love and the next day she disappears. Tessa the ex fiancee of the President is terrified of what he will do to her if she doesn't follow his plans to get revenge on his daughter and as many riches as he can get his hands on. He has spent the last 6 months abusing her and she's ready to sneak away. The night she tried to run Eric drugs her and she meets Stratek that same night. She truly scared of the aliens because of what's she been lead to believe. But she can't help being attracted to Stratek. When she wakes she runs and then finds out she has been matched. The president is more of a scumbag in this book and you really root for him to get what's coming to him. But it's the relationship between Tessa and Stratek that's beautiful to watch. As she sees how a woman should be treated and loved by a mate she realizes the lies women all over earth are good are there to control and manipulate. Stratek's patience and love allow Tessa to blossom into a strong confident friend, sister, loved and mother! Highly recommend! I hope this author writes more in this series i love it.💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥
Book two takes place following the events of book one. It can be read as a standalone but I would advise to go back to the first one to understand things more clearly. The heroine, Tessa, was introduced in book one. While I enjoyed book one, this one excelled. I found the fmc way more interesting. Tessa is a brave, smart fmc. I still am skeptical about their mental capabilities after having endured such a backward culture. Surely the females would be more traumatized by their histories. This is probably my only critique. With this said, readers should be warned about rape triggers. While the story does not go into graphic detail, it is talked about which I can imagine would be triggers for some readers. The story itself is engaging. It has a great mmc who was also introduced in book one, so readers will be familiar with his charismatic charm. He is definitely swoon worthy. The story has great romance that felt genuine, plenty of heat 🌶🌶 and suspense. I am totally invested in this series! So far, each book has a hea even though there are over reaching storylines to continue the series. And I can’t wait to read them❣️ 📚🌹
Matched To The Monster Too was OUTSTANDING! More angst, sexy tentacled heroes and a heroine who isn't at all as bad as we originally presumed from the first book. This story was so easy to dive into and love!
These sexy monster heroes are AMAZING and Stratek really made my heart melt and sigh. I loved his passionate and playful side as well as his protective and caring one too. Tessa is a strong heroine who has a strong will and is amazingly resilient. I was thrilled to see her get with a good guy, especially since she had to deal with such a horrible person as the President is. Stratek treats her nice and the way their romance blossomed really got to me right in the heart. I am honestly addicted to these sexy aliens and I really hope to see more of them get their own stories. These are some really great reads!
I give this book a SENSATIONAL FIVE MUST READ STARS!! This alien world with its unique beauty and even better heroes should NOT be missed!
Lilaina was always naive and nice. She literally said she knew if her father was involved she was probably manipulated. So for everybody to hop on Tessa when they knew that was wack. Tessa never did anything to Lilaina. She was so nasty in this book. We never got to read about Tessa and Lilaina getting to know each other to even like each other. The author didn’t do this relationship justice. The baby should’ve had 2 legs to show the hybrids could come out anyway.
Why would the president be happy about the match?
I feel like the aliens should’ve been more foreign with their speech. Like they should be using their own curse words. The author went back and forth with calling females/males women/men. Aliens aren’t women and men. I wish maybe they used their own colloquials as well. Like the alien saying “godd*mn” when they workship a goddess doesn’t make sense to me.
I feel bad for what she suffered but the heroine did her best with her resources. The hero didn't let misunderstandings fester. And even though the heroines choices were not stellar, she never crossed over into to stupid to live. I also like the human nature of wanting to get back at your step mother and not being above a little hazing and then rising above it. Spoiler...
I did not care for the inclusion of reverse harem in the epilogue. That device feels like women wanting to try what already didn't work for men just to prove they are evolved.
Overall I would love to visit this world again and to " deal" with Eric in a more permanent way. He deserves more than a nose job.
* Plot/Storyline - 2/5 (I was hoping for to find out what happened the first night, and surely the Britoninans are medically advanced to confirm the race of a baby, so for Tessa not to wait until it was born, but ok) * Romance/Steam - 1.5/5 (I felt no chemistry between the characters at all) * Drama/Conflict/Angst - 2/5 * Worldbuilding/Atmosphere - 2/5 (what I still don't understand is that if the population is mostly women, how can they let the men rule over them like this. I am more interested in the Britonians tbh)
Just wow. This was an amazing book. This one is Tessa and Stratek’s story and it was so good! Stratek is just amazing. He fell in love with Tessa immediately, but was so patient while he helped her overcome all the lies and preconceived ideas she was taught about his world. Tessa was very much abused at the hands of Earth men and I’m so glad she found Stratek. She was strong enough to heal and accepting enough to realize everything she was taught was a lie.
This is a great series and great addition. I really enjoyed it. Be warned though, there is some talk about abuse both mental and physical. So if you’re triggered by that I would avoid this book, or at least prepare yourself.
A very impressive follow up to the first book! While I struggled to actually like our main character Tessa, I can understand why she acted the way she did. Coming from a terrible situation, much like the one liliana came from, she doesn’t sit well with me until she finally admits to everyone the reason she is there. At that point I finally feel like with everything out in the open, we get to see them move forward as a couple and as a clan. I’m interested to see how the next book plays out, as we haven’t been introduced to any other females within our story lines! I continue to be impressed with the depth of the characters and the story line as well!

This is kind of the same story as the previous book in that abused woman from a misogynist culture goes to different culture & realizes life doesn’t have to be that way. I felt the heroine’s turnaround from repressed puritanical woman to a woman who does pda and leaves lunch early to have sex was way too fast to be believable. I remembered liking the previous book in this series, but this one was just an ok for me. Wouldn’t read more.
*Content Warning* Violence. References to offscreen abuse, onscreen bruises. Sex. hermaphrodite exhibitionism (of 3ft tall aliens), tentacle sex, references to the virgin heroine being raped offscreen, and heroine forced to give men hand jobs.
Critique*****Spoiler Alert***** Timeline. The timeline between books made no sense. The heroine from the 1st book is nearing the end of her 2nd pregnancy at the start of this book - suggesting at least a year between the end of the last book & this one. However, this one starts with this books heroine just ending her engagement - which happened at the end of the last book. So where was she during the missing year(s)?
The tease at the end with the triad has me RARING for the next installment and I hope it’s a part of the series just because I love that dynamic. Being part of the series means I get more triads to read!
As always Rena is a singularly compelling writer to the point I saw this in my recommended and I stopped in the middle of another book to read this one. The plot could stand all by its self but the spice is wicked hot to!
This series shows just how easy people can get manipulated into going along with those in power 😣. The people in power have always controlled how they want you to think and feel, even if it's wrong 🤐. And even though things are changing, we need to stand up and say "NO" when we see an injustice 🤔. Thanks so much Rena, I truly LOVE your stories and hope that they reach others who are being controlled and want it to stop 🤓.
I like that even though the women were scared of (the monster's) they found true love and happiness. I didn't like that the President got away with killing his first wife and the treatment of his daughter plus his 2nd wife to be!!!? I would tell anyone what a great series this is. My rating is based on how the author keeps you interested in the story. I didn't want either book to end. Thank you
Matched To The Monster, TOO is book two in the series Sweet and Steamy Mail Order Brides/The Match Program by author Rena Marks. Brilliant this one has so much feeling and heart. It will take the breath from you- you’ll feel so many emotions from light to dark- love to disgust. I can’t wait for the next book in this series so forgive to short review- just know this book was brilliant! Enjoy!!
Wow! This was a wonderfully insightful alien romance. Abuse of any kind is horrible to read about and even worse to experience. I thought Ms. Marks handled the emotional aspects of an abuse survivor very well. Tessa deserved her happiness and Straitek had me hearing that What a Man song in my head because he truly was a mighty good man, proving that monsters like Eric can hide in plain sight. I really enjoyed both books but this was my favorite.
The hero looked and looked for her but couldn't find her. Because the evil President threw her in prison to punish her.
They fall in love and have steamy moments. She becomes friends (President's former fiance) with the President's daughter.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER S P O I L E R S.................The President raped her. The next night she voluntarily had sex with her alien mate. When she gets pregnant, she did not know who the father is. The hero (alien guy) is the father.
This is a great, well written, SciFi, Alien/Human romance. More information is given about the conditions of the women on Earth. Tessa was the fiancée of the President until she learns he is calling her by the name of his first wife who was found dead in the basement chained to a wall. She meets Stratex and although she believes the rumors, she likes him. There are many twists and turns in their story. Read and enjoy their love story.
Please, Rena, continue to write. I love this series. I love your style.
Considering that I have read to escape a life lived under crushing abuse created by men through religion, I can relate very much. I am now a life-ling reader, and see romance as a beautiful escape from our reality.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series so far. The (trigger warning) way the cruel President treats his daughter, 1st wife and betrothed, not gonna lie. I had to use my coping skills to work through it. But once the women out are away from him, I'm so glad they have the males they get matched to. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Matched to the Monster Too is a story you can really sink your teeth into. You're not going to want to stop reading, so plan on checking out while you are carried away to a better world. If you somehow missed reading Matched to the Monster, hop to it! Rena Marks has created the perfect getaway.
This was a spicy, loving, funny story with heartbreak and many misunderstandings. It was beautiful to watch the ml and fl's relationship unfold. Not as much suspense as the first one, but that's ok. The romance was extreme in this one and I positively adore the ml. I liked him in the first one and especially this one. Thank you for a wonderful tale.
This book was pretty confusing at the start.. once I got the gist of it, it wasn’t terrible. I did find she got over her fear of aliens super quick and it was very human oriented when it came to the spice. They mention tentacles but it just didn’t hit the same as the first book. There was a lot more like justice which was alright but it almost came across corny. Idk. It just wasn’t my fav.
